Undemocratic, Anarchic: Jagan Mohan Reddy Slams Chandrababu Naidu Over ZPTC By-Elections
Reddy accused Naidu of resorting to conspiracies, attacks, atrocities, lies, cheating, and backstabbing to cling to power instead of winning public support through genuine work.
Reddy also accused Naidu of misusing his authority to manipulate the electoral process and prevent free and fair polling in the Pulivendula and Ontimitta ZPTC by-elections
'Chandrababu Naidu is an undemocratic and anarchic figure who, instead of winning people's affection through genuine work, resorts to conspiracies, attacks, atrocities, lies, cheating, and backstabbing to seize power. This is once again being proven before our eyes. In the Pulivendula and Ontimitta ZPTC by-elections, he is undermining democracy through shameless politics, misusing his authority to prevent free and fair polls,' Jagan Mohan Reddy said in a post on X.
TDP and YSRCP are locked in a bitter fight in the ZPTC by-election in Pulivendula, the Assembly constituency represented by Jagan Mohan Reddy.
YSR Jagan alleged that from the moment the by-election notification was issued, police atrocities began. Hundreds of YSRCP leaders and workers were bound over, including people with no previous police cases, solely to intimidate them.
He said that on August 5, TDP gangs attacked YSRCP leaders attending a wedding in Pulivendula. Amaresh Reddy and Saidapuram Suresh Reddy were severely injured. Others were also attacked as a warning against supporting YSRCP.
On August 6, TDP gangs attempted to murder YSRCP MLC Ramesh Yadav and YSRCP leader Velpula Ramalinga Reddy near Nallagondavaripalle. Their car was smashed with sticks, stones, and rods, and petrol was poured in an attempt to set it on fire. Police stood by as silent spectators, alleged Jagan.
The former CM said that instead of arresting the attackers, police filed a false SC/ST case on August 6 against Velpula Ramu and about 50 others, making several arrests and planning more on polling day.
On August 8, after threatening and luring a YSRCP leader to switch sides, the ruling party obtained a false complaint and police issued notices to Raghavareddy, Gangadharareddy, Y.S. Bhaskar Reddy, and Devireddy Shivashankar Reddy.
The same day, officials shifted polling booths from villages to far-off locations, forcing around 4,000 YSRCP-supporting voters in Pulivendula ZPTC to travel 2 to 4 km, facing threats and attacks on the way. This creates scope for booth capturing and rigging, the YSRCP chief said.
On the night of August 8, in the false case against Velpula Ramalinga Reddy, 12 people were arrested. Some were at the police station during the alleged incident, yet were still charged. After evidence was shown, four were released but eight were remanded.
'On polling day, TDP plans to suppress voter turnout and hide its attacks, atrocities, and booth capturing by controlling media coverage. Gangs are prepared to destroy live broadcast vehicles and equipment to stop the truth from reaching the public,' Jagan Mohan Reddy said.
'In truth, one should feel ashamed to even call these democratic elections. Still, I have faith in God and in the people. Ultimately, dharma will prevail,' he added.

Vijayawada: An intense legal battle was fought before the high court by the ruling and opposition parties over the Pulivendula ZPTC by-election on Monday, a day ahead of actual polling. The court disposed of multiple petitions filed by the YSRCP candidate without much of the reliefs sought. The advocates representing YSRCP and the state govt submitted fierce arguments in the petition filed challenging the change of polling stations. Tummala Hemant Reddy, along with others from YSRCP, contended the change of Erraballi and Nalugonduvaripalli polling stations to Nallapureddypalli. The counsels for the petitioners argued that the election commission did not inform voters through paper publication about the change, and many voters did not know where to cast their votes. They sought directions to continue the polling stations where the election was held in 2019. Dismissing the arguments, advocate general Dammalapati Srinivas stated that 97% of voters were given voter slips on which the name of the polling station was printed. He said the claims of the petitioners that voters were not aware of polling stations is far from the truth. A division bench of the high court, comprising Justices Ravinath Tilhari and K Maheswara Rao, upheld the single judge order passed in the petition filed by YSRCP functionaries. While the single judge disposed of the petition with an observation that the state election commission and the police should ensure a free and fair election, an appeal was filed for specific orders for installation of CC cameras, allowing polling agents to strong rooms, and appointment of neutral observers. The division bench observed that the orders of the single judge were enough, and there was no need to add anything to the same. In the petitions filed for relief from arrest, the high court granted interim relief to YSRCP functionaries, directing the police not to take coercive steps till Aug 13. Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy, Satish Reddy, and others moved the high court seeking to quash the case registered against them for holding a rally without permission. Another petition was filed by YSRCP functionary Lingala Ramalingareddy and others, challenging the FIR under attempt to murder and SC/ST Act. In both petitions, Justice Venkata Jyothirmai Pratapa directed the police not to take coercive steps against the petitioners. The Pulivendula ZPTC bypoll will be held on Tuesday. As many as 10,600 voters will exercise their franchise. While ruling TDP has fielded Mareddy Lata Reddy, YSRCP has picked Hemanth Reddy as its candidate. Man kills mother over family property dispute in Andhra

Former Andhra CM Jagan's maternal uncle booked for political comments at Tirumala temple
Tirumala police, on Monday, registered a case against YSR Congress Party leader P. Ravindranath Reddy, the maternal uncle of party President and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, for allegedly making political comments in Tirumala temple premises. On a complaint by the Vigilance officials of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the police registered a case against Ravindranath Reddy, a former MLA and former Mayor of Kadapa. The YSRCP leader allegedly violated the TTD rules by making political comments on Sunday after offering prayers. He made the comments while talking to media persons in front of the temple. Ravindranath Reddy criticised the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led coalition government and commented on political developments, including the Pulivendula Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency by-election. He alleged that the TDP-led alliance was indulging in irregularities and attempting to intimidate YSRCP workers and Pulivendula residents. He also claimed that crop yields had declined under the present government and accused it of betraying the people of Andhra Pradesh in the name of Super Six scheme. The TTD Board, which looks after the affairs of Sri Venkateswara temple, had issued a directive in November last year, banning political and hate speeches at the Tirumala temple premises. The Board had emphasised the need to preserve the spiritual sanctity of the holy site. The TTD Board noted that the incidents of political leaders making controversial statements to media personnel immediately after temple darshan have disrupted the spiritual atmosphere traditionally characterised by divine chants of "Govinda". The Board had warned that any person violating the directive will face legal consequences. Political leaders have been explicitly requested to refrain from making political statements or engaging in hate speech within the temple precincts. The TTD officials are keeping a close watch on the media interactions of the political leaders after darshan. It's common for leaders of all the parties to speak to media after coming out of the temple. However, political leaders have been exercising caution since the TTD issued the order in November last year.
