He also led the team to victory in the Irani Cup 2024–25, overcoming the Rest of India (ROI) side. 'For me, it's all about focusing on the controllable things. Frankly, I tried to have conversations with the selectors, but (these) things as a player I cannot control. I got no response. As a player all I can do is keep playing cricket, keep enjoying the game, give my best each and every time. I love playing Test cricket, love playing red-ball, it's a passion. The love for the game keeps me going," he added. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. Mascha In Trouble: Inter Miami Head Coach Spotted Passing On Instructions Over Phone After Red Card

Last Updated: Mascherano was sent off ahead of the second period of play, and was caught talking on the phone in an attempt to pass on instruction, which is banned in the Leagues Cup. Inter Miami head coach Javier Mascherano courted controversy on Thursday as he was pictured making a phone call to pass on tactical information after being sent off during the Leagues Cup game between the Herons and Tigres at the Chase Stadium in Florida. Miami, who were devoid of the services of eight-time Ballon d'Or-winning Argentine icon Lionel Messi due to injury, posted a 2-1 win over the Mexican club thanks to a brace of penalties from Luis Suarez. However, the Herons had to endure head coach Mascherano being sent off from the touchline. Mascherano was sent off ahead of the commencement of the second period of play over an argument with the referee, but his situation worsened as he was caught talking on the phone in an attempt to pass on instruction, which is banned in the Leagues Cup. Miami, missing the services of eight-time Ballon d'Or-winning Argentine icon Lionel Messi due to injury, secured a 2-1 victory over the Mexican club, thanks to two penalty goals from Luis Suarez. However, the Herons faced a challenge when head coach Mascherano was sent off from the touchline. Mascherano was ejected just before the second half started following an argument with the referee. His situation deteriorated further when he was caught using his phone to provide instructions, which is prohibited in the Leagues Cup. Mascherano reportedly instructed assistant coach Lucas Rodriguez Pagano during the phone call while seated at the stadium. Additionally, Aquino had a moment to forget as the ball struck his arm again in the box, allowing Suarez to step up and score the winning goal in the 89th minute of the match. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. 'Can't Sail Today On Yesterday's Wind': Erik Ten Hag Urges Patience Amid Bayer Leverkusen Rebuild

Ten Hag called for time as he begins the rehabilitation process of the team that has been picked apart with the departures of big names including Florian Wirtz, and Jonathan Tah. Bayer Leverkusen manager Erik Ten Hag, who took over the reins of the Bundesliga side following the departure of former gaffer Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid, eyes a steady rebuild at the German outfit with long-term success the main agenda. Ten Hag, who was sacked from his previous role as the head coach of Premier League side Manchester United, called for time as he begins his rehabilitation process of the team that has been picked apart with the departures of star names including Florian Wirtz, Granit Xhaka, Jonathan Tah, Jeremie Frimpong and Lukas Hradecky over the summer. Leverkusen clinched the 2023/24 Bundesliga title unbeaten under the stewardship of Alonso, but Ten Hag, reiterated the fact that no side can afford to rest on its previous laurels. 'You can't sail today on the wind from yesterday," the 55-year-old said. 'No one is Harry Potter, building a team so quickly and being successful at the same time. That's not how top-level football works," he explained. Ten Hag opened his tenue at the head of the side with a 4-0 win over Grossaspach in the German Cup fixture between the sides despite some early jitters. 'You can see that not all the processes are working yet. It takes time," the Dutchman added. Leverkusen have managed to rope in the likes of Jarell Quansah, Malik Tillman and Ernest Poku in order to strengthen their side ahead of the season, with a few more incoming transfers lined up before the window slams shut. German icon Jurgen Klinsmann backed the Dutchman to deliver results at the helm of the club; however, he called for a more moderate expectation to start off with. 'Leverkusen have to redefine their goals, because you cannot expect them to win the championship now," the legendary striker added. 'The goal will be getting to a Champions League spot and maybe winning the German Cup, and doing well in Europe as well," he added. 'Erik absolutely has the knowledge, the charisma and the capabilities to do really well," Klinsmann said. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
