
Steelers' potential trade target WR Terry McLaurin speaks his mind on contract negotations
McLaurin spoke to reporters on Tuesday about his desire to feel valued amid extension talks — and the situation is one Pittsburgh should keep a close eye on.
"Yeah, I've been pretty frustrated, I'm not gonna lie," McLaurin said, via insider Jordan Schultz. "Everything that has transpired up to this point has been disappointing and frustrating. I've wanted to continue my career here, created my life here. My wife and I bought our first home here, so this is somewhere where I've always wanted to be. Just to see how things have played out is disappointing.
"I obviously understand everything is a business, but at the same time, I want to put myself in a position where I'm valued and I feel appreciated. Unfortunately, that hasn't transpired the way I wanted it to. So, I'm just trying to take things day by day."
Analysts have speculated McLaurin could be looking for anywhere from $31 to $34 million per year — around the same range that Steelers WR DK Metcalf and Jets WR Garrett Wilson signed on their new extensions this year.
If the Steelers are truly all-in on Aaron Rodgers' final season in 2025, pairing McLaurin up with Metcalf would give Pittsburgh one of the best wide receiver duos in the NFL — the perfect recipe for a deep postseason run.

Income Statement Highlights Second quarter 2025 compared with first quarter 2025 Total revenue of $5.7 billion increased $209 million, or 4%, driven by growth in both noninterest income and net interest income. Net interest income of $3.6 billion increased $79 million, or 2%, driven by loan growth, the continued benefit of fixed rate asset repricing and one additional day in the quarter. Net interest margin of 2.80% increased 2 basis points. Fee income of $1.9 billion increased $55 million, or 3%, primarily due to higher card and cash management revenue and an increase in capital markets and advisory fees. Other noninterest income of $212 million increased $75 million reflecting Visa related activity and other positive valuation adjustments, partially offset by lower private equity revenue. Noninterest expense of $3.4 billion was stable. Provision for credit losses was $254 million in the second quarter and reflected changes in macroeconomic scenarios, tariff related considerations and portfolio activity, including loan growth. Balance Sheet Highlights Second quarter 2025 compared with first quarter 2025 or June 30, 2025 compared with March 31, 2025 Average loans of $322.8 billion increased $6.1 billion, or 2%, driven by growth in the commercial and industrial portfolio of $7.4 billion, or 4%, reflecting strong new production and increased utilization of loan commitments, partially offset by a decline in commercial real estate loans of $1.2 billion, or 4%. Consumer loan balances were stable. Credit quality performance: Delinquencies of $1.3 billion decreased $128 million, or 9%, as a result of lower consumer and commercial loan delinquencies. Total nonperforming loans of $2.1 billion decreased $184 million, or 8%, driven by lower commercial nonperforming loans, including lower commercial real estate nonperforming loans. Retail Banking Highlights Second quarter 2025 compared with first quarter 2025 Earnings increased 21%, driven by higher revenue, a lower provision for credit losses and lower noninterest expense. Noninterest income increased 11%, primarily reflecting Visa related activity and seasonally higher card and cash management revenue. Noninterest expense decreased 1%. Provision for credit losses of $83 million in the second quarter of 2025 included the impact of changes in macroeconomic factors and portfolio activity. Average loans were stable. Asset Management Group Highlights Second quarter 2025 compared with first quarter 2025 Earnings increased 23%, due to a provision recapture, lower noninterest expense and higher net interest income. Noninterest income was stable. Noninterest expense decreased 4%, primarily driven by lower personnel expense, reflecting seasonally lower incentive compensation. Discretionary client assets under management increased 3% and included the impact from higher spot equity markets and positive net flows. Average loans increased 1%. Average deposits decreased 3%, driven by the timing of annual client income tax payments. The labor market has eased but job growth continues, and job and income gains have supported consumer spending growth in the first half of 2025. The longer trade disputes persist, the greater the likelihood of near-term recession. The baseline forecast is for one federal funds rate cut of 25 basis points this year, at the last Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting of 2025, with additional rate cuts of 25 basis points at each of the first two FOMC meetings of 2026. This would put the federal funds rate in a range of 3.50% to 3.75% by the spring of next year. High inflation could mean less monetary easing than in the forecast, but if the economy enters recession the Federal Reserve could cut the federal funds rate more aggressively this year. Iowa's Kirk Ferentz among upper echelon of ESPN's college football head coach rankings
College football coaches may be one of the most rapidly changing job descriptions in America lately. From the transfer portal, to NIL to court cases impacting the sport, their role has quickly gone from X's and O's to just as much, if not more time, spent dealing with off-the-field items. Amid that, winning games remains the common denominator for measuring success. The Iowa Hawkeyes, under the leadership of head coach Kirk Ferentz, have done a lot of winning. Ferentz's success at Iowa has him among the best active FBS head coaches in ESPN's rankings of the best college football coaches in America. Entering the 2025 season, ESPN has ranked Kirk Ferentz as the No. 17 head coach in America. He is also the longest-tenured coach in college football, which in itself should earn him a spot, as sticking around for so long only happens when success is achieved. As a head coach, which also includes a three-year stint at Maine in the early 1990s, Kirk Ferentz owns a 216-145 overall record. When looking at his time at Iowa, which began in 1999, Ferentz is 204-124 overall with a 128-88 record in Big Ten Play. He has taken Iowa to 22 postseason bowl games, while winning 10 of those contests. SEC host believes Texas A&M is being 'overlooked\
Before Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko and his three-player representatives, junior linebacker Taurean York, senior guard Ar'maj Reed-Adams, and senior cornerback Will Lee III, a host of SEC media members spoke to the TexAgs radio crew during the first two days of SEC media days this week to discuss the 2025 outlook for the Aggie football program. On Tuesday, Georgia, Texas, and Auburn took the stage, while SEC Network host Laura Rutledge spoke to TexAgs Live host David Nuño, and was one of the few media members this week who felt that Texas A&M is being highly undervalued this offseason, while cross-town rival Texas has received all the national praise. Nothing Rutledge said is new for those of you who have been paying attention, those of us who cover the program, knowing that starting quarterback Marcel Reed's improvement this offseason, paired with the returning veterans and 14 transfer portal additions, have the Aggies on the right track to compete for a College Football Playoff berth. "I don't thing enough people are talking about A&M" Rutledge stated. "I don't want to overdo this, because, I get superstitious about A&M, I have a couple best friends who are A&M fans, so, they get mad at me if I'm overhyping the team, but, I am an honorary A&M fan." Getting Rutlege's now confirmed A&M fandom out of the way, the SEC host expressed her belief in the Aggies' ability to get through what is widely seen as one of the toughest schedules in the country. "I think they're gonna be pretty good, Marcel Reed coming back, he's got way more experience under his belt, and getting thrown into the fire you saw some flashes, you saw some freshman moments, right, it's a moment of an experience, and now he's got time under his belt." Rutledge is even more confident in Texas A&M's defense improving with Mike Elko taking over as the play caller, which should help with early and late-game adjustments that were an issue last season. "I think Elko taking over the defensive play calling is big, that's hit background, his bread and butter" said Rutlege. "He is such a good coach and he has impressed me in so many ways, and I just think its, and I know A&M fans are like, "we've got to win" and this has been the story, right? There's been lot's of money spent, and how you see it actually translate, it will be better in my opinion, and there are key parts in the schedule that are really going to matter. I think they're a team that people are overlooking right now." Texas A&M will open the 2025 season against UTSA on Saturday, August 31, inside what should be a packed Kyle Field.
