Wife of MLB star Sean Hjelle DELETES 'abuse' and 'affairs' claims from social media as ugly breakup takes new twist

Daily Mail6 hours ago

The estranged wife of Giants pitcher Sean Hjelle has deleted a TikTok accusing the MLB player of 'abuse' and 'affairs' - but says she stands by the claims in the video.
On Friday, Caroline Hjelle posted a short clip of herself and her two sons on TikTok, alleging that Sean had 'abandoned' his family on Mother's Day 'once I finally found out about his affairs and stopped putting up with his abuse.'
She added that she was raising their two sons alone, while Hjelle later told reporters that the pair were involved in divorce proceedings and had been separated for over a year.
And amid those legal negotiations, Caroline has admitted to taking the video down after being asked by a commenter about the clip's whereabouts.
'I had to archive it for the time being for legal reasons,' Caroline said in the comment section of another one of her videos.
'I still stand by everything in that post and am incredibly grateful and extremely overwhelmed by the support. It means more than you'll ever probably know.'

Sean, meanwhile, broke his silence on Saturday night after San Francisco defeated the Red Sox.
'I don't have an official comment right now,' Hjelle said. 'I would like to talk to my agent, my lawyer. This has been something that has been going on for over a year now in terms of our relationship, our divorce, our separation and everything.
'I don't have any official comment right now, I just want to talk to the appropriate people to figure out what the steps are. I'm just taking it in stride right now. No official comment right now.
'I feel confident saying that I will have one eventually. I don't have an exact timeline on that, but I would like to actually get with the people that are handling the situation with me and for me before I actually make an official statement.'
It also emerged on Saturday night that MLB has launched an investigation into the allegations, and the Giants have confirmed they are 'aware of these serious allegations'.
Caroline did not immediately respond to Daily Mail's previous request for comment.
On TikTok, Caroline wrote on Friday: 'When my MLB husband abandons us on Mothers (sic) Day a week after this [video was taken] once I finally found out about his affairs and stopped putting up with his abuse so I've been raising two boys alone.'
Her TikTok post shows Caroline's two sons both wearing t-shirts emblazoned with a drawing of their family. A tall baseball player (Sean is 6-foot-11) is pictured holding hands with a blonde woman and two boys. His No. 64 is also visible on the t-shirts.

The couple was married in November of 2021 at a private ceremony in Richmond, Virginia , where their eldest son served as a ringbearer, according to Richmond.com.
Since then, Caroline has become popular on TikTok, where she gives her nearly 40,000 followers a behind-the-scenes look at the life of a Major League Baseball family.
Her posts have frequently focused on her husband's career and his extraordinary height.
In Hjelle's most recent appearance for the Giants on Friday, he allowed two hits (including a home run) in one inning against the Red Sox.

Florida AG wants to build new 'Alligator Alcatraz' to house 'criminal aliens' in predator-filled swamp

Florida 's attorney general unveiled controversial plans to build a new immigration detention center - nicknamed 'Alligator Alcatraz' - as part of President Trump's sweeping crackdown to deport so-called 'criminal aliens '. Attorney General James Uthmeier has loudly thrown his support behind the Trump Administration's mass deportation agenda, declaring that the Sunshine State has already been lending a leading hand - and has no plans to stop anytime soon. His loyalty to the cause was on full display this week, when the 37-year-old politician proposed building a massive 39-square-mile detention center deep in the Everglades - encircled by thousands of pythons and alligators. 'Alligator Alcatraz - this existing island in the middle of the swamp presents a great option for criminal detention and deportation,' Uthmeier wrote to X. 'The one-stop shop to carry out President Trump's mass deportation agenda,' he added. Uthmeier took to X on Thursday, sharing a one-minute, rock-and-roll-fueled video showcasing his vision for the controversial detention center - set at the Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport, a forgotten pilot training airstrip in the Everglades. He emphasized that 'Florida's been leading in immigration enforcement,' positioning the facility as the state's next big move in ICE's mission to round up what he referred to as 'criminal aliens'. In a span of just six days this past April, ICE agents in Florida arrested a staggering 1,120 people - underscoring the state's aggressive role in the nationwide crackdown, according to an ICE press release. In the video, Uthmeier emphasized the nationwide need for temporary detention centers, suggesting the 'virtually abandoned airstrip' could serve as an ideal makeshift facility. 'The government tasked state leaders to identify places for new temporary detention facilities,' he said. 'I think this is the best one. As I call it, Alligator Alcatraz.' He billed the plan as a budget-friendly, escape-proof solution - thanks to the alligator and python-infested Everglades surrounding the remote site like a natural fortress, a feature he claimed would slash security costs. 'Efficient. Low cost opportunity to build a temporary detention facility because you don't need to invest that much into the perimeter,' Uthmeier explained. 'People get out. There's not much waiting for them, other than alligators and pythons,' he added. 'Nowhere to go, nowhere to hide.' Pitching his plan to the White House, Uthmeier claimed 'Alligator Alcatraz' could be operational in just 30 to 60 days - and house up to 1,000 so-called 'criminal aliens'. Doubling down, the attorney general highlighted that the makeshift detention center would be surrounded by more than 200,000 alligators - adding a chilling layer of natural security Doubling down, the attorney general highlighted that the makeshift detention center would be surrounded by more than 200,000 alligators - adding a chilling layer of natural security. 'This presents a great opportunity for the state of Florida to work with Miami Dade and Collier counties,' Uthmeier stated. 'Alligator Alcatraz - we're ready to go.' According to Fox Business, which got an exclusive first look at the property, part of the appeal is the airstrip - allowing immigrants to be flown in directly, avoiding the process of relocating them multiple times. The proposal appeared to win backing from the Department of Homeland Security, who reposted Uthmeier's video on their own account - proudly hyping it with the bold caption, 'ALLIGATOR ALCATRAZ'. 'Under 287g authority, state and local law enforcement can now assist with immigration functions, including: arrests, transportation and detention,' the department wrote to X. '287g is a force multiplier in completing the President's mission and making America safe again.' But the idea has sparked fierce backlash, with critics condemning it over environmental risks and calling out the inhumane conditions of detaining people in such camps - especially ones with dangerous wildlife surrounding each side. Eve Samples, Executive Director of Friends of the Everglades, stood out as just one vocal critic, joining a chorus of voices rejecting the proposal. 'This site is really important to Friends of the Everglades,' Samples told CBS News. 'It's actually the reason Friends of the Everglades was founded by Marjory Stoneman Douglas in 1969, to stop what would have been the world's largest airport from being built right there,' she added. 'We call on the governor to put a stop to this proposal right now. It's a terribly bad idea.' Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava also voiced strong concerns about 'Alligator Alcatraz' in a letter to Kevin Guthrie, Executive Director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management. In her letter dated June 23, Cava outlined three key concerns: environmental impacts and mitigation, financial analysis, and public safety and security. 'I understand there is an intention to begin work on the site as early as Monday,' she wrote. 'There has not been sufficient time to fully discuss these matters, and I thank you for your attention to these concerns given the rapid pace of the state's effort,' she continued. 'I trust we will continue to work in partnership on initiatives that ensure the safety and wellbeing of all Floridians.' Florida Democrat Representative Maxwell Frost added his take on X, posting, 'Donald Trump and his Administration have turned our immigration system into a taxpayer-funded kidnapping operation.' California Democratic Senator Alex Padilla wrote on X: 'The numbers don't lie. Trump isn't focused on violent criminals - he's wasting money and resources going after children, families and taxpayers.' For now, it's still uncertain whether the controversial 'Alligator Alcatraz' project will move beyond the planning stages.

Emma Raducanu: Carlos Alcaraz pulls off crazy shots — he inspires me

They say the very best tennis players have the ability to give themselves that extra little bit of time, not to be hurried into any particular course of action. And while an invitation to play mixed doubles with Carlos Alcaraz might have prompted an immediate and ecstatic 'yes' from most people, Emma Raducanu was happy to make the Spaniard sweat a little before agreeing to join him in a pairing at this year's US Open. 'Got to keep them on their toes, huh?' Raducanu said, as she arrived in Eastbourne to continue her preparations for Wimbledon, having been troubled by a back injury in her quarter-final defeat by Zheng Qinwen at Queen's. 'Of course, I had to ask my team if they wanted me to play. For me, when he asked me, I was going to say yes. [But] I had to go through the formality of asking my coach, so I didn't just make the decision.' Raducanu, who is seeded No7 in Eastbourne, where she beat Sloane Stephens and Jessica Pegula last year, will face another American, Ann Li, in the first round of the Lexus Eastbourne Open on Tuesday. Her friendship with her fellow 22-year-old Alcaraz, she revealed, goes back to her first season on tour, when she reached the fourth round of Wimbledon and won the US Open in 2021. 'I remember he was always playing the day before me [at the US Open], and I was playing the second day of the round, and I would see him win and then have motivation to win and get myself into that position too,' she said of the five-times grand-slam singles champion. 'He beat Steph [Stefanos Tsitsipas] in the third round. It was his breakout win on a big stage and it was really cool to kind of go through that tournament together. We have a good relationship still. He's obviously overtaken me a lot, but it's nice that we have that from a while ago.' Raducanu watched Alcaraz's Queen's semi-final against Roberto Bautista Agut from the club's balcony, and said that his style of play and approach to the game resonated with her. 'I saw some really cool drop volleys and I was like, 'Yes, let's save some of that,' ' she said. 'But he's got plenty of magic to bring to New York. I think we're similar in that we both play our best when we're enjoying it, when you see us smile on the court and have fun and lean into those positive emotions. 'Whenever I have tried to channel any negativity or that kind of energy, I don't do so well. And I feel like that's why he's able to do such crazy shots and turn points around, because it's coming from a place of curiosity. It's amazing to have that on the men's side and take inspiration when I can.' Raducanu, who pulled out of last week's Berlin Open, said her back was 'OK' but that she was 'still managing it as best I can' and has 'good and bad days with it'. 'I'm doing everything,' she added. 'Needles, soft-tissue, some muscle-stimulation stuff, taping, everything. It's just ongoing, but it's OK.' Raducanu said the aim for the week is 'to put myself in the best possible position, level-wise' for Wimbledon, and to gain some potentially fortifying experience in the blustery conditions on the south coast. 'Playing clean, ball-strike tennis isn't necessarily going to always work here and [it's about] trying to find a way to make it difficult [and play with] variety,' she said. 'It's a challenge, but it is good practice, because sometimes in Indian Wells it can be very windy, and that's a Masters, so you don't want that to be your first time playing in those conditions.' There was success for the other British singles entrants at Eastbourne on Monday, as Dan Evans overcame a wobbly first set to upset Miomir Kecmanovic, the Serbian world No49, in a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory. Evans, who has been given a main-draw wild card for Wimbledon, will face the No2 seed, Tommy Paul, in the next round. 'In whatever time I have left, it is a work in progress,' Evans said of his recent performances. 'Sometimes it takes time. I have been battling away to get [to my best] levels on court, but this is the most confident I have been on grass for a long time.' Francesca Jones, the British women's No5, also advanced, seeing off Belgium's Greet Minnen 6-4, 7-5. Meanwhile, the 18-year-old Brazilian rising star João Fonseca, the youngest player in the top 100, claimed his first Tour-level win on grass, beating Belgium's Zizou Bergs 6-7, 6-0, 6-3. Rico Lewis has ban EXTENDED after red card in Man City's Club World Cup opener, despite Pep Guardiola insisting there was 'no intent to hurt anyone'

Rico Lewis has been slapped with a further two-match ban for his sending off in Manchester City 's opening game of the Club World Cup. Lewis saw red after clashing with Wydad AC's Samuel Obeng in the 88th minute of City's 2-0 victory in Philadelphia. The 20-year-old won the ball cleanly with a sliding tackle before accidentally catching Obeng in the chin with his boot. Pep Guardiola branded the red card as 'unnecessary' by Brazilian referee Ramon Abatti, whose 'ref cam' footage suggested he hadn't seen the whole incident. The decision was upheld after a VAR review and Lewis was handed a one-match suspension, served during the 6-0 win over Al Ain in Atlanta. But FIFA have deemed that the serious foul play is worthy of additional punishment and Lewis will now miss the crunch final group game against Juventus as well as City's last 16 clash. City were unsuccessful when appealing the extension of the suspension. 'The referee thought the leg was a little bit high, but he (Lewis) was on the grass, he touched the ball,' Guardiola said last week. 'For the speed they go to touch the ball. Rico had no intention, he is a person who never has an intention to hurt anyone. 'It was unnecessary, honestly, the red card, but the referee had a different opinion and he's the boss. They checked VAR, so we accept it.'
