Nearly 900 contraband seizures recorded at Saudi Customs ports in a week
The seized contraband items included 49 types of narcotics, such as hashish, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, Captagon pills, and others, in addition to 452 other prohibited substances. Customs ports also seized 1,535 items of tobacco and its derivatives, 20 types of currency, and two categories of weapons and related accessories.
ZATCA reiterated its commitment to reinforcing customs control over the Kingdom's imports and exports to ensure the security and protection of society through ongoing cooperation and coordination with all relevant authorities.
It also urged the public to help combat smuggling to protect society and the national economy by reporting violations through the designated security hotline 1910, email 1910@zatca.gov.sa, or the international number 009661910.
The authority receives reports related to smuggling and violations of the Common Customs Law in strict confidentiality, offering a financial reward if the information proves accurate.

A truck carrying what seemed to be several sheep was stopped at Haditha port in Saudi Arabia, when authorities noticed something amiss. After the vehicle passed through detectors, and through manual inspection, authorities at the Zakat, Tax and Customs authority managed to thwart a smuggling attempt. Hidden in fake "sheep wool" were 406,395 pills of the narcotic "Amphetamine" known as Captagon. The arrests were carried out by Zatca, in coordination with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC). Saudi Arabia authorities often carry out large-scale drug busts to prevent narcotics entering the country and circulating in society, particularly in youth circles. Just last month, the Kingdom arrested eight for attempting to smuggle 300,000 captagon pills hidden in parts of a vehicle, through Jeddah Islamic Port.

Iraqi forces seize Captagon in Damascus drug raid
Iraqi counter-narcotics forces seized more than 1.35 million Captagon pills during a raid in Syria's capital, in a rare and significant cross-border operation, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said on Wednesday. The operation in Damascus was the first direct security engagement between Iraq and Syria and reflects both countries' commitment to tackle the drugs threat. An elite Iraqi unit launched the mission after gathering 'precise intelligence from sources embedded in regional drug trafficking networks', a ministry statement said. The raid was carried out "in close co-operation with the Syrian Directorate of Narcotics Control", it added. The operation led to the capture of a major international drug trafficking network and the confiscation of approximately 215kg of narcotics, it added. 'This achievement represents a significant milestone in the framework of international co-operation to combat cross-border threats,' the ministry said. It emphasised Iraq's 'commitment to tracking down drug traffickers wherever they may operate'. The statement did not reveal when the raid was carried out, how many people were arrested or their identities.

Saudi ZATCA seize over 69,000 Captagon pills in twin airport busts: Report
Saudi Arabia 's Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has intercepted two smuggling attempts involving 69,045 Captagon pills at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. The amphetamine-based pills were discovered concealed inside the clothing of two passengers who arrived on separate flights, according to a report by the Saudi Gazette. The first smuggling attempt involved 34,588 pills, whilst the second case saw authorities intercept 34,457 pills using the same concealment method. Saudi Arabia thwarts Captagon smuggling operations worth thousands of pills ZATCA stated that the operations demonstrate its commitment to strengthening customs control at all Saudi ports. The authority said it remains focused on combating smuggling as part of its mission to protect society from harmful substances and trade.
