Wife shocked after learning policeman husband was stabbed during patrol
Norfazliana Osman, 35, said she was at their home in the Pudu police quarters when Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, contacted her around 1 pm on Thursday.
'They said they needed to operate immediately and asked for consent as part of his intestines might need to be removed due to the stab wound,' she told reporters at the hospital today.
Her husband, Corporal Mohd Nadzri Sudiman, remains in stable condition but is still weak and requires pain management, she said.
'I understand the risks of his job as a policeman, but as a wife, the fear is always there,' said Norfazliana, who has two children aged 11 and seven.
She said it is uncertain how long her husband will remain hospitalised, but confirmed their children have been informed of his condition.
Earlier, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay visited Mohd Nadzri at the hospital.
Also present were Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad, Bukit Aman Management (Administration) deputy director Datuk Azizee Ismail, Wangsa Maju district police chief ACP Mohd Lazim Ismail and Cheras district police chief ACP Aidil Bolhassan.
Mohd Nadzri was seriously injured after being stabbed in the abdomen by a 56-year-old local man while patrolling with four other officers in Pudu Market, Jalan Yew.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and has been remanded until next Thursday. The case is being investigated under Section 307 and Section 186 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and obstructing a public servant, as well as Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. — Bernama

Last year Chinese authorities vowed to crack down on school bullying after a high-profile murder case. In December, a court sentenced a teenage boy to life in prison for murdering his classmate. The suspects, all aged under 14 at the time of the murder, were accused of bullying a 13-year-old classmate over a long period before killing him in an abandoned greenhouse. Zayn Rayyan's mother closes defence after expert says messages showed no malice, verdict of neglect trial due Oct 31
PETALING JAYA, Aug 5 — The defence team for the mother of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matin, charged with neglect resulting in physical harm to her six-year-old autistic son, closed its case today after calling five witnesses. Defence counsel Haresh Mahadevan, representing Ismanira Abdul Manaf, 30, informed the court that the defence was closing its case following the testimony of child psychologist Dr Noor Aishah Rosli, 49, who took the stand today. 'The defence has no further witnesses, and we close our case today,' he said. Judge Dr Syahliza Warnoh then fixed Sept 8 for written submissions from both parties, Sept 22 for oral replies and Oct 31 for the verdict on whether to convict or acquit Ismanira. On July 21, the court ordered Ismanira to enter her defence after the prosecution established a prima facie case against her at the close of its case. She testified in her own defence over three days, beginning July 21. Earlier, Dr Noor Aishah testified that the following WhatsApp messages were normal expressions from a mother caring for an autistic child: 'haishhh stress nak mati' ( I'm so stressed I could die) 'budak ni elok je takde pun aku pukul… sebenarnya aku tepuk punggung masing-masing je tapi aku cakap perkataan berlasah sebab aku tengah geram dan marah sangat-sangat' (The kid's fine, I didn't actually hit him… I just smacked his bottom, but I said 'beat up' because I was feeling really annoyed and angry). 'From a psychological perspective, these should not be viewed as an intention to commit a crime. If you ask anyone, it's common for messages to a spouse to contain harsh words, but without any intent behind them,' she said. She described the messages as Ismanira's way of expressing affection for her son while venting to her husband, who was at work at the time. Dr Noor Aishah said the texts were emotional outbursts, light-hearted remarks, and not to be taken seriously, with no indication of malicious intent. Hong Kong police investigate mangled body found on street, search for missing body parts
HONG KONG, Aug 5 — Hong Kong police launched an investigation today after what appeared to be a headless body was found on the street during a heavy rainstorm. A 54-year-old foreign male living on Kennedy Road, an affluent part of the Wan Chai neighbourhood, was found dead under a tree outside his home just after 7am today, according to police. The case was reported by a cleaner at the same address. 'Following preliminary investigation, it is believed that the subject fell from a flat at the address,' police said, adding a note written by the deceased had been recovered. The cause of death remains to be determined by autopsy. Uniformed officers were spotted combing the street during a torrential downpour to search for the man's head and left leg, local media earlier reported. The leg was later found across the road in front of a high school, while the man's head was suspected to be pushed into his body, newspaper Sing Tao Daily reported, citing sources at the scene. — AFP
