The rapid events of the last eight days are going to impact the entire spectrum of world politics significantly. These events were instrumental in showing the whole world the strength of new India.
Simultaneously, India also made it clear that henceforth international politics will not be played solely at the whims and fancies of the superpowers.
This incident has clearly shown that a country with a combination of a brave army and a strong leader, can easily overcome any crisis. Pakistan and even the superpowers had speculated that India would stop after destroying the terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir after Pahalgam attack.
But when Pakistan again attempted to strike 15 Indian cities with drones and missiles, India retaliated to protect its national security and proved this speculation wrong. The Indian Army with its powerful strike on Pakistan's airbases stunned their political and military rulers along with their close friend China.
BrahMos missiles launched a fierce attack on eleven Pakistani airbases. Six Pakistani airbases were targeted by air-to-surface BrahMos missiles. Pakistan's claim of no damage during the Indian attack has been refuted by a globally renowned newspaper like The Washington Post.
The Washington Post report has clearly mentioned that Indian aircrafts had penetrated more than 100 miles inside Pakistani territory. The Washington Post verified 27 satellite images. The Washington Post rejected Pakistan's claim based on these images. It has reported about the condition of three important airbases of Pakistan after the attack. Two Pakistani control centres have been destroyed at Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi.
The Washington Post stated that Nur Khan Airbase was also attacked massively. It has also reported that six airbases, three hangars, two runways and four mobile towers of the Air Force experienced significant damage, based on satellite images.
Earlier, The New York Times had also reported about the damage to Pakistani airbases in India's Operation Sindoor. The New York Times reported that the Nur Khan airbase, which was located about 15 miles from the Pakistani Army headquarters and the Prime Minister's office, was the most difficult military target attacked by India. It also reported that India has attacked locations like Rahim Yar Khan Airfield, Sargodha Airbase, Jagrur and Sialkot Airbase.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the airbase in Adampur Punjab on 13th May and interacted with army personnel. Pakistan had claimed to have destroyed this same base.
Prime Minister Modi completely exposed Pakistan's lies by visiting the same base and addressing army personnel. Prime Minister Modi while addressing on this occasion, gave a stern warning to Pakistan and all those forces which are backing Pakistan. 'India has only postponed its military action. But if Pakistan carries out any terrorist activity or military mischief, we will give a befitting reply. We will respond on our own terms and conditions, in our own way. We should constantly remind the enemy that this is a new India.
This India wants peace, but if humanity gets attacked, this India also knows very well how to destroy the enemy on the war front. You will be destroyed if you carry out another terrorist attack,' India has reprimanded Pakistan loud and clear with these stern words.
Whether Pakistan's political leadership learns something from this, only time will tell.
'Pakistan should not threaten us with nuclear weapons, we do not pay heed to it' this statement of Prime Minister Modi at Adampur says a lot. Congress supporters and Modi opponents cried foul that India had accepted America's alleged mediation by accepting a ceasefire.
But Donald Trump himself silenced them by saying that he was not instrumental for a ceasefire in India- Pakistan conflict. India has also made it crystal clear that no mercy will be shown to Pakistan by announcing that Indus Water Treaty will remain suspended. Along with this India has also played another diplomatic move.
The Modi government has decided to send MPs from various parties to different countries to brief them about Pakistan's role in sponsoring terrorism, Pahalgam Hindu massacre and the success of India's Operation Sindoor. Congress leader and former Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor and Asaduddin Owaisi along with a select group of opposition MPs will lead this campaign. Each team will be accompanied by a senior official from the External Affairs ministry and other colleagues.
This will give extensive support to India's foreign policy worldwide. A message will be given to the entire world that as far as national interest is concerned India is united keeping political differences aside. .
'वीरः सदा जयत्येव, नृपतिः शूर एव च' which means a king should stand firmly behind his army, such an army can defeat anyone on the battlefield.

Karur textile exporters face the risk of dip in production and job loss due to Trump tariffs

Textile exporters from Karur, who are hit by high tariffs imposed by the U.S., have sought the immediate intervention of the Union and State government to save the industry. According to industry sources, the U.S. remains one of the largest markets for Indian textiles. Home textile exports originate from the Karur cluster, which has earned a reputation for quality and reliability over decades of trade relationships, and constitute a significant share of the country's exports. The total annual manufacturing value of Karur cluster is pegged at ₹9,000 crore. Of this, exports constitute ₹6,000 crore, predominantly to the U.S. and European Union. The cluster employs about 2 lakh people in production of home textiles such as bed linen, table covers, kitchen cloths, mats, and sofa covers. With the U.S. imposing 50% higher tariffs on Indian goods, the exporters have started feeling the heat. The industry leaders say that the customers based in the U.S. have started demanding heavy discounts for existing orders. Several exporters have received intimation from the buyers to hold shipments. Orders placed recently have been cancelled. 'The recent developments are posing a big challenge to the textile exporters. Holding of shipments or cancelling orders will lead to restricted cash flow. It will eventually lead to a liquidity crisis. Forced discounts and delays have potential for operational losses, thereby leading to job loss for thousands of workers, many of whom are dependent on daily wages,' says P. Gopalakrishnan, president, Karur Textile Manufacturers Association. Highlighting the potential challenges, he said the association had sent a separate memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to take steps to save the industry. Association secretary S. Sukumar said the current situation had the potential to disrupt the supply chain management besides causing slump in production. It was not good for the exporters, who had built their customer base brick by brick over the decades. Mr. Gopalakrishnan said there was an urgent need for an invention by the government to sustain the operations, protect jobs, and maintain global competitiveness. List of demands An additional 24% enhancement in working capital limits without requiring additional collateral and ad-hoc loan facility up to 20% of the turnover of 2024-25 as an emergency loan to address liquidity crunch must be given. Similarly. Interest subvention scheme should be reintroduced to offset higher borrowing costs and maintain competitiveness. A special export incentive of up to 10% for textile exports to the US market to counterbalance the tariff disadvantage should also be given to the exporters.

BPCL buys 10 mn barrels of US crude oil through five-month tender

India's state-run Bharat Petroleum Corp has awarded a five-month tender for 10 million barrels of U.S. oil to European trader Glencore, two people with knowledge of the matter said, aiding India's efforts to deepen energy ties with Washington. India, the world's third-largest oil importer, is increasing imports from the United States as negotiations for a bilateral trade agreement continue. Under the deal, Glencore will deliver 2 million barrels of WTI Midland crude per month from November to March to the Indian refiner, the sources said, doubling the volume BPCL imported under its previous tender. Indian refiners and traders do not comment on oil trade issues citing confidentiality. The increased imports are expected to support India's efforts to narrow its trade surplus with the U.S., which stood at $45.7 billion last year. Trade tensions between India and the United States have escalated sharply in the last few weeks, with U.S. President Donald Trump imposing a 25% tariff on Indian goods starting August 7 and threatening similar measures over the Asian country's continued purchases of Russian oil. During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Washington in February, India pledged to raise U.S. energy purchases from $10 billion to $25 billion, with both nations targeting $500 billion in bilateral trade by 2030. Indian refiners have already increased imports of U.S. oil from the spot markets on improved arbitrage economics of sending Atlantic Basin grades to Asia. Refiners also plan to raise imports of cooking gas from the U.S. from 2026, while the federal government is looking at eliminating import tax on propane and liquefied natural gas purchases from the U.S. (Reporting by Nidhi Verma; Editing by Tomasz Janowski and Rachna Uppal)
