My schooling was in BJP, college in TDP, working for Rahul Gandhi: T'gana CM

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said on Sunday that he completed his schooling in BJP, college in Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and now he is working for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The Chief Minister recalled his recent conversation with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during NITI Ayog meeting in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President, N. Chandrababu Naidu. "The Prime Minister, while pointing towards Chandrababu Naidu, said that your friend is here. I told him, I studied in your school and his college and now working for Rahul Gandhi," he said. The Chief Minister was speaking at an event where Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya's autobiography "Prajala Kathe Naa Aatmakatha" (The People's Story is My Autobiography) was released. Revanth Reddy was with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in his student days. He was an MLA from the TDP before joining the Congress in 2017. Stating that Governor Dattatreya is a person who has no enemies, the Telangana Chief Minister called him a role model for future leaders. The Chief minister extolled Dattatreya rising to the rank of Governor from Gowliguda galli (narrow street in Gowliguda area). He said that Governor Dattatreya maintained core values and never distanced himself from people despite adorning top positions during his entire political stint. The Chief Minister recollected his personal relations with the Haryana Governor and his close observation of the senior leader's political journey. He believes Governor Dattatreya at the state level enjoys the same stature which the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had at the national level. Revanth Reddy said that every political leader admired Governor Dattatreya with the same respect even if he is not in power. The popular 'Alai Bhalai' programme organised by Governor Dattatreya every year has been receiving overwhelming response from all party leaders and it is a testament to the leader's statesmanship. Former President Ram Nath Kovind, former Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, Ministers from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, among others, addressed the event. Chandrababu Naidu called Governor Dattatreya a 'true gentleman' and said that people affectionately call him 'Dattanna'. CM Naidu added that Governor Dattatreya made a humble beginning as an ordinary BJP activist and went on to emerge as a national leader. He said Governor Dattatreya participated in several movements and has risen up in public life facing all odds. The TDP President was all praise for the Haryana Governor for upholding secularism and for bringing all sections of the society together with his annual programme 'Alai Bhalai'.

A historic shift towards continuity, change

The Telugu Desam Party's (TDP) annual Mahanadu, held recently in Pabbapuram on the outskirts of Kadapa, was more than just a celebration of the late NTR's birth anniversary. It served as a crucial platform for both cadre and leaders to express their views, adopting resolutions that carry socio-political, economic, and cultural significance for Telugus worldwide. These resolutions will guide the party's direction for the foreseeable future. The Kadapa Mahanadu marked a historic turning point for the TDP, signaling a clear intent for change with continuity in adapting to contemporary times. By choosing Kadapa as the venue, the party leadership sent a strong message of its renewed focus on the Rayalaseema vote bank. Previously, Mahanadu was primarily held in Tirupati within the Rayalaseema region, with numerous events in coastal Andhra. The decision to hold it in Kadapa has instilled confidence among the party cadre and leadership that Rayalaseema will receive significant attention in the coming days, underscoring the importance of the 'Mission Rayalaseema' resolution adopted at the event. A strong signal regarding leadership change was also evident. The Mahanadu-2025 flags themselves appeared to embody this transition, featuring the late NTR at the centre, flanked by Nara Chandrababu Naidu on one side and Nara Lokesh on the other. Despite Lokesh playing down the speculation, it seems the stage is set for a leadership transition within the TDP. This timing aligns with the demographic advantage of youth, as a majority of voters now fall into the younger age category. The party leadership, aiming to capture the youth vote, is steadily promoting Nara Lokesh as a youth icon. Lokesh has already proven his mettle through the 'Yuvagalam' walkathon, silencing critics both within and outside the party. He is poised to become the new-generation leader for the TDP, steering the party with renewed vigor to meet changing times while upholding its fundamental principles. To ensure a seamless transition of change with continuity, the TDP has adopted six guiding principles for the coming decades: Jaathi-Viswakhyathi (Global Eminence for Telugus), 2. Stree Sakthi (Women Empowerment), 3. Social Reengineering, 4. Yuvagalam (Voice of Youth), 5. Annadaataku Andaga (Support to Farmers), 6. Karyakarthe Adhinetha (Cadre is Supreme). While some of these principles are not entirely new to the TDP, their reiteration and prominent celebration at Mahanadu are noteworthy. For instance, the TDP government was the first in the country to genuinely provide property rights to women. Similarly, the TDP initiated social reengineering through housing programs, providing rice at Rs 2 per kilo to the poor, and uplifting socially vulnerable and weaker sections. Historically, the TDP has been perceived as a rural party with a strong farmer base, a perception that has only recently begun to shift. The new principle of 'cadre is supreme' appears to be a reiteration of a unique concept, reminiscent of Alexandre Auguste Ledru-Rollin's 1848 French Revolution slogan, "There go the people. I must follow them, for I am their leader." The adoption of this principle by the TDP underscores the deepening roots of democracy within our society, signifying that leadership can no longer ignore its foot soldiers. Another principle, 'global eminence for the Telugu community,' acknowledges the growing influence of Telugus worldwide in their respective fields. Tapping into the Telugu Diaspora can provide long-term benefits for the TDP, leveraging both investments and contributing to the development and welfare of people in both Telugu states. The emphasis on 'Yuvagalam' (Voice of Youth) is particularly timely, given the demographic advantage of young voters and the efforts of all political parties to engage them. The TDP is positioning itself at the forefront of politically engaging youth, aiming at securing their long-term support.

Despite '400 paar' setback in 2024, how Modi 3.0 at 11 is looking stronger than ever

Despite initial doubts after the 2024 elections, Narendra Modi's third term as Prime Minister appears stable, with strong support from allies. The BJP has rebounded with state election wins, while the Congress struggles to maintain momentum. Experts suggest Modi's leadership remains dominant, with no clear alternative in sight, as his government confidently advances its agenda. Tired of too many ads? When Narendra Modi took oath as Prime Minister for the third time on June 9, 2024, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was quick to declare the beginning of the end for the BJP . He claimed Modi had been 'finished psychologically' after the party fell short of the majority mark in the Lok Sabha elections, despite its 'Abki Baar 400 Paar' believed the BJP-led NDA government was on shaky ground, relying heavily on allies like Chandrababu Naidu's TDP and Nitish Kumar's JD(U), both known for switching sides. But a year later, those fears seem reported by PTI, the Modi government now looks confident and stable. Rather than acting as unreliable supporters, TDP and JD(U) have praised Modi's leadership and stood firmly behind him on major BJP, after a dip in the national elections, bounced back strongly. It bagged wins in state elections in Maharashtra, Haryana, and even made a historic return in Delhi after 26 years, dealing a blow to AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on his home Congress, on the other hand, failed to maintain its momentum. Once upbeat after the Lok Sabha results, the party is now struggling again. It hasn't managed a major state poll win, and other opposition parties like the TMC and AAP have drifted away from the INDIA to PTI, Manoj Kumar, a Political Science professor at Delhi University, said Modi remains the dominant political figure in India. 'As long as Modi is around, there's no serious alternative to him,' Kumar added that while issues like the caste census and Constitution fears gave the opposition a temporary boost, Modi's image as a decisive leader, especially after Operation Sindoor , remains also noted that the BJP's decision to include caste enumeration in the census shows the party's ability to absorb important issues without becoming fully caste-based in its not having a full majority, Modi's government has confidently pushed ahead with its agenda. The Waqf (Amendment) Bill was passed with the help of allies, even though some had initial concerns. The 'One Nation One Election' idea has also moved forward, with a Joint Parliamentary Committee reviewing the governance style, built around schemes like 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas', continues to pay off. According to Kumar, Modi joins leaders like Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Vajpayee in having deep public trust and wide assembly elections coming up in states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, Assam, and Bihar, the BJP will be tested again. But after the first year of Modi's third term, the party looks Congress, meanwhile, continues to search for direction and unity among its inputs from PTI
