Fox and IndyCar Put Faces to Indianapolis 500 With Help From Macy's and Letterman
In June 2024, IndyCar announced that it was shifting partners from NBCUniversal to Fox and putting all 17 of its races, plus two days of qualifying rounds for the Gainbridge-sponsored Indy 500, on live network broadcasts. The circuit saw immediate dividends during its opening race in St. Petersburg, when Fox drew an audience of 1.42 million—a viewership level IndyCar hadn't hit since the 2011 Indianapolis 500 and 45% higher than last year's opener on NBC, according to Sports Media Watch.
As Fox announced during its upfront earlier this month, IndyCar viewership is up 25% on Fox from the same time last year. That didn't happen in a vacuum, as Fox began marketing IndyCar in fall and early winter during its college football and National Football League broadcasts, using its other Fox Sports properties to boost awareness of IndyCar.
'We were able to use that platform to start advertising and talking about IndyCar and the drivers to a wide audience, and that was an important part of the liftoff of the new season and the new relationship with Indy continued that through the playoffs and the Super Bowl,' said Robert Gottlieb, president of marketing at Fox Sports. 'We've used our NASCAR broadcast, beginning with the Daytona 500, which has large amounts of motorsports fans, and we're able to talk to them a lot about IndyCar, and so that all led to a pretty virtuous circle that delivered us to our opener at St Petersburg.' Gottlieb considers the Indianapolis 500 broadcast an inflection point for Fox's IndyCar coverage, with much of it building to this stage. During the Super Bowl, Fox's IndyCar ads focused on 26-year-old Mexican driver Pato O'Ward, who dabbles in Formula 1 with McLaren and came in second at last year's Indy 500 after a raucous final lap. The campaign also featured reigning champion Josef Newgarden, who's going for his third-consecutive victory after winning the previous two races in Indianapolis on the last lap. businessmayor May 23, 2025

Cleveland Browns Training Camp Recap: Day 13 – No reps for Shedeur Sanders vs. Eagles
Day 13 of Cleveland Browns training camp took place Wednesday. Here is our recap of the session. Cleveland Browns Training Camp Report – Day 13 (8/13/25) 1. Practice With the Champs: It's a great opportunity for the Cleveland Browns to get a couple of joint practices in with the Philadelphia Eagles, the defending Super Bowl Champions. It's also great from a mental standpoint, because the coaches can point to the fact of how the Eagles really fell into a rut two years ago with their big losing streak, but they revamped and showed everyone what they were really capable of a year ago. As a reminder, during these joint practices, the media cannot film during team drills, so any highlights during those sessions would have to be provided by the teams themselves (and they are usually close-up shots, if they are provided). 2. Man of the People: A man of the people indeed — here is QB Joe Flacco using the restroom before practice started, a practice in which head coach Kevin Stefanski stated that the veteran quarterback would continue to take first-team reps in. Meanwhile, QB Kenny Pickett would remain limited to 7-on-7 drills against his former team, while QB Dillon Gabriel was expected to see some 11-on-11 work. 3. Re-United: The Browns shaved a tiny bit of salary cap this offseason by releasing veteran long snapper Charley Hughlett, who had been with the team since 2014. I'm sure it was fun for him to re-unite with his former teammates this week, as he is now a member of the Eagles. In a similar manner, the Browns surprisingly released defensive end Ogbo Okoronkwo this offseason. Likewise, he signed on with the Eagles, so Browns players were catching up with him before practice. 4. Sanders Exits Early: The biggest headline from the joint practices is no doubt the fact that QB Shedeur Sanders was limited and held out the remainder of practice after he suffered an oblique injury. I'm sure we'll have more updates as time goes on, but at this point, we don't know the severity of it. Like, is it another, 'his shoulder was sore so we held him out a day' type of deal, or did he tweak it, something that isn't necessarily super limiting, but requires a few weeks of rest to truly let it heal? Eagles QB Jalen Hurts had some words with Sanders after practice: 5. One-on-One Action: During 1-on-1 drills, CB Myles Harden's stock takes another boost, as he logged an interception. 6. Tame Action All Around: There wasn't a ton of team reps for all the quarterbacks, but with Sanders out, Tyler Huntley got some work in. Joe Flacco completed a few passes to WR Jerry Jeudy later in practice. One highlight was WR Gage Larvadain snagging a touchdown pass from QB Dillon Gabriel, who might be in line to start against the Eagles on Saturday. 7. Punt Return Reps: The punt return reps against Philly included WR DeAndre Carter, WR Diontae Johnson, and WR Gage Larvadain. 8. Brownies: Former Browns WR Kevin Johnson was at practice. … CB Greg Newsome remained limited as he tries to battle back from a shoulder injury. … Head coach Kevin Stefanski noted that he was extremely disappointed with DE Myles Garrett's speeding ticket. … 9. Next Up: The Browns will play have another joint practice with the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday (time to be determined).

New York Giants are NFL's third-most valuable franchise
The New York Giants have a long and storied history that only a few NFL franchises can claim. The Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears, and Green Bay Packers are the only three teams that have been active for longer than the Giants, but a team's longevity in the league doesn't have much bearing on what that organization is worth today. For example, the Dallas Cowboys joined the league in 1960, nearly 40 years after the Giants, yet they are the most valuable franchise in 2025. Sportico released its annual NFL valuations on Wednesday, and the Cowboys top the list. The Giants, though, finally broke the $10 billion mark and have become the third-most valuable team in the NFL. The Giants' valuation is up 34 percent from 2024. Below the team valuations listed on Sportico's site is an explanation of how they determined the values, what assets they counted, etc. Part of the explanation is as follows: 2025 Valuation: The sum of the enterprise value of an NFL franchise combined with the value of team-related businesses and real estate holdings. Team Value: NFL franchise valuation, derived from metrics by which football-team transactions occur, including aggregating local and national revenues and factoring in a team-specific multiplier. This represents the market value of the team itself, excluding related businesses held by its owners. It includes the value of each franchise's 3.13% interest in the league's properties, including NFL Films, NFL RedZone, 32 Equity (the private equity investment vehicle established by the NFL in 2013) and its digital platforms, which are acquired/dispossessed in tandem with the sale of a team. There is an additional category for Team-Related Businesses and Real Estate Holdings, which is broken down in a way that attempts to eliminate counting any money coming to the team that's not directly related to football operations. Of the top five teams with the highest valuation, only the Cowboys and Giants have missed the Super Bowl for the last 10 years, which proves that just because a franchise is worth more money, it doesn't mean they field a better football team. This year, the Giants have a chance to prove that they've located the train tracks and are getting back on board. Being one of the top-valued teams in the league, they need to start showing it on the field. They don't have to make the playoffs in 2025, although that is always the goal. If they can put together a winning season and pass the eye test, it will go a long way toward the team being worth what it's valued at.
