Todd Davis returns to Broncos as a defensive quality control coach
One day after parting ways with a linebacker-turned-coach, the Denver Broncos are hiring another former linebacker as a coach.
The Broncos are hiring Todd Davis as a defensive quality control coach, Zac Stevens of DNVR Sports first reported on Thursday. Davis, who has worked for DNVR as a commentator since 2023, was one of Denver's coaching interns at training camp last summer.
Davis, 32, is now leaving DNVR for a full-time DQC position on Sean Payton's staff, working under defensive coordinator Vance Joseph. Davis spent time playing under Payton with the New Orleans Saints in 2014 before later landing with the Broncos.

Davis spent six years in Denver, totaling 467 tackles, 13 pass breakups, 11 quarterback hits, two sacks, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and one interception returned 20 yards for a touchdown. He was a special teams player and rotational linebacker when the team won Super Bowl 50 following the 2015 season.
Davis spent time with the Minnesota Vikings (2020) and New York Giants (2021) at the end of his career before hanging up his cleats. He now returns to the Broncos, this time as a coach.

Recently cut ex-Bengals linebacker would make sense for Broncos
The Cincinnati Bengals are releasing veteran linebacker Germaine Pratt, a move that could be of note to the Denver Broncos. Even after signing Dre Greenlaw in March, the Broncos could still use another starting-caliber inside linebacker. Alex Singleton is coming off a torn ACL, and he's set to turn 32 this season. Singleton was a starter in Denver before his injury, but it remains to be seen if he will return to his pre-injury form, and the Broncos would save $5.58 million if they release him. Advertisement There's not much proven depth behind Greenlaw and Singleton, either. Justin Strnad started eight games out of necessity last year, but Denver's not leaning on him to start in 2025. Drew Sanders could have a bigger role this season, but he only has four career starts on his resume. Levelle Bailey played primarily on special teams, and undrafted free agent signees JB Brown, Karene Reid and Jordan Turner are fighting for roster spots this summer. So the Broncos could certainly use a proven veteran like Pratt, a 29-year-old linebacker who started all 17 games for the Bengals last season. A former third-round pick out of NC State, Pratt has totaled 616 tackles, 23 pass breakups, seven interceptions, seven forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries and 3.5 sacks in 96 career games. If the price is right, Pratt would be a logical addition for Denver's defense that could still use an upgrade at linebacker. Related: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans. 5 undrafted free agents with best chances to make Broncos' 53-man roster
5 undrafted free agents with best chances to make Broncos' 53-man roster The Denver Broncos have a great history of undrafted free agents making the 53-man roster, with at least one UDFA earning a spot on the active roster in 21 of the last 22 seasons. So, who has the best chance this year? Follow the money. Money is obviously not the only factor -- players still have to perform during training camp and preseason to make the squad -- but it does give a hint at how the team ranks their top UDFA additions. The team's five highest-paid UDFAs this year probably have the best odds of making the 53-man roster. Missouri pass rusher Johnny Walker received the highest signing bonus ($20,000, tied) and the most guaranteed money ($254,000) among the team's UDFA signings this spring, according to KUSA-TV's Mike Klis. Denver is deep at outside linebacker, but Walker (6-3, 250 pounds) could be a sleeper after totaling 9.5 sacks last fall. Utah linebacker Karene Reid got a $15,000 signing bonus and $249,000 guaranteed (second most). Reid (6-0, 226 pounds) faces long odds to make the active roster, but the Broncos are not especially deep at inside linebacker, so he'll get an opportunity to impress. Jacksonville State guard/center Clay Webb received $15,000 as a bonus and $225,000 guaranteed (third most). A lingering lawsuit against Webb from high school has been dismissed, and some pundits had Webb (6-3, 312 pounds) projected as a late-round pick. He could be a top candidate for a backup job on the offensive line. Georgia guard/tackle Xavier Truss got a $20,000 signing bonus (tied for the most) and $170,000 guaranteed (fourth-most). Truss (6-7, 320 pounds) is a massive prospect who was a starter for the Bulldogs' College Football Playoff National Championship win in 2022. Kansas linebacker JB Brown received a $10,000 signing bonus and $160,000 guaranteed (fifth-most). Like Reid, Brown (6-2, 230 pounds) will get a chance to win a spot at a position that is not particularly deep. Broncos' 5 UDFAs with best chance to make 53-man roster OLB Johnny Walker ILB Karene Reid OL Clay Webb OL Xavier Truss ILB JB Brown After training camp and preseason, the Broncos will trim the 91-man offseason roster down to 53 players in August, then they will build a 16- or 17-player practice squad. Any UDFAs listed above who do not end up on the active roster would presumably be top candidates for the team's practice squad. Related: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans.
