Find out when Notre Dame football will start its fall camp for the 2025 season

USA Today4 days ago
As we are heading towards the end of July, we know Notre Dame football is right around the corner when fall camps starts.
Typically teams have about a month from when they report to begin really preparing for the season and when the opener is, which is exactly the case for the Irish. They'll start camp this coming Thursday, July 31st, with the first game being played against Miami on the road on Aug. 31st according to On3.
There is plenty of hype surrounding the Notre Dame program at the moment, fresh off an impressive run to the College Football Playoff championship game, followed up by arguably the best recruiting class ever in the 2026 cycle. Head coach Marcus Freeman is also getting plenty of national attention, and big things are expected from this team once again as the season rapidly approaches.
Notre Dame does have more than a few questions surrounding its team, but many of the other tops teams are also facing the same issue. The Irish should enjoy another successful regular season, one that propels them once against into the CFP.

Michigan State football center Matt Gulbin explains reason for transferring to MSU

It could be argued, and is probably true, that the biggest addition for Michigan State football this offseason was the addition of former Wake Forest offensive lineman Matt Gulbin. Gulbin was brought in to be the presumptive starting center, replacing Tanner Miller in that role, and on Thursday, he explained why he decided to come to MSU to finish his collegiate career. I was talking to a bunch of schools and I talked to Coach M and Coach Smith, and my old coach at Wake Forest knew Coach Smith from some sort of coaching clinic or something and he raved about him and everything he said, you know, has run true. And you know, I think I built a good connection with Coach M. You know, I visualize that this is a guy I want to play for... And also just the history of Michigan State is awesome... I've always been an admirer of this program and this university, so, it's really an honor to be a Spartan and to play for this program. Nebraska football tight end Mac Markway out for season with torn ACL

Nebraska football coach Matt Rhule gave a status update on tight end Mac Markway on Thursday. The coach officially confirmed that the tight end is out for a second season with a torn ACL. He came to Lincoln in 2024, but suffered a torn ACL injury before the start of the season. He entered the 2025 fall camp with a chance to work his way into the type end rotation. Now, it appears he has suffered another setback, as the ACL repair reportedly failed. He came to Lincoln by way of LSU, where he played limited action. He caught three passes for 16 yards in 2023. Rhule gave some information regarding the injury in his meeting with the media on Thursday. 'After the first practice, he came in and had some swelling in his knee, not until the next day,' he said. 'Unfortunately, the ACL repair failed for him. It's heartbreaking news. He's an unbelievable human. I felt terrible for him. It wasn't any one play, nothing that he even knows necessarily happened. Just some swelling. Got through the walk through that night, then came in the next morning. We got through day one, talked about him, we were really excited for what we knew he was about to do. I know the human he is and I'm excited for what he does next. I just wanted to make sure you guys heard that from me.' This is certainly unfortunate news for the program and the tight end position. Nebraska has the depth to withstand the injury, but this is the difficult part of preseason camp. Wisconsin offensive playmaker makes notable preseason watch list

Wisconsin wide receiver Vinny Anthony was named to the Paul Hornung Award watch list on Thursday. The award, given annually to the most versatile player in college football, spotlighted 46 athletes on its preseason watch list. Other Big Ten names listed are Rutgers wide receiver D.T. Sheffield, Illinois wide receiver Hank Beatty, Nebraska wide receiver Jacory Barney Jr., Minnesota safety Koi Perich, Indiana wide receiver Makai Jackson, Oregon running back Noah Whittington and Penn State wide receiver Trebor Pena. All of those players have a primary attribute in common: they also excel on special teams. Anthony, for example, complemented his 672 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 2024 with 390 kick return yards. He projects as one of the Big Ten's best kickoff returners entering the 2025 campaign. Previous winners of the Paul Hornung Award include two-way star Travis Hunter (2023 and 2024), Oregon State fullback/quarterback/receiver/linebacker/defensive back Jack Colletto (2022), Houston cornerback/return specialist Marcus Jones (2021) and Alabama star DeVonta Smith (2020). Big names including Saquon Barkley (2017), Jabrill Peppers (2016), Christian McCaffrey (2015), Odell Beckham Jr. (2013) and Tavon Austin (2012) are also past winners. Anthony is set to lead the Badgers' wide receiver room this season. After a breakout 2024 campaign as the team's top outside option, many expect a further breakthrough as one of the Big Ten's top playmakers in 2025.
