Bahrain Launches New Guide to Recover Crime-Linked Funds and Enforce Seizure Orders
Decision No. (47) of 2025 introduces a detailed guideline for handling requests to recover criminal proceeds and enforce court-ordered asset seizures. This guide was developed in line with international standards, including the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), and in close cooperation with key national entities such as the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Finance and National Economy, Ministry of Justice, Central Bank of Bahrain, and with approval from the Supreme Judicial Council.
The guideline outlines clear legal and procedural steps for reclaiming money and assets gained through criminal acts—whether at the request of Bahraini authorities or from international partners. It also explains how to implement confiscation rulings issued by both local and foreign courts. It highlights the roles of each government body involved in such procedures.
Improving Transparency and Cooperation
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Public Prosecutor Wael Rashid Buallay emphasized that the new guide is designed to standardize procedures, promote transparency, and ensure that recovered or seized funds are handled properly. It also aims to protect the rights of innocent third parties and ensures that all steps are taken under proper legal safeguards.
He noted that the initiative reflects Bahrain's strong commitment to fighting financial crimes, especially money laundering and terrorism financing, and its belief in the importance of robust international cooperation.
A Unified National Effort
Buallay praised the efforts of all agencies involved, including the National Policy Committee on Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing, for their role in crafting a practical and thorough document. The guide is seen as a key step in Bahrain's continuing efforts to track and recover illicit gains and prevent criminals from using cross-border tactics to hide or benefit from illegal wealth.

The site was reportedly used for storing, packaging, and distributing the banned medication. When police raided the location, the suspect violently resisted arrest, damaging several police vehicles in the process. A search of the facility uncovered significant quantities of Lyrica capsules, powdered Lyrica, and equipment used for repackaging the drug for distribution. Under interrogation, the imprisoned mastermind admitted to coordinating the shipment of narcotics from an undisclosed Asian country. The consignment was reportedly smuggled into Kuwait through air freight. Following this admission, authorities, in collaboration with the General Administration of Customs, inspected a cargo facility at the airport, where they discovered seven large boxes filled with hundreds of thousands of Lyrica capsules. 'This is a major blow to organised drug trafficking operations in Kuwait,' the Ministry of Interior said in a statement, stressing the government's ongoing efforts to dismantle smuggling networks and safeguard the public from the threat of drug abuse.

Veterinarian Arrested In Kuwait For Performing Cosmetic Surgeries In Illegal Beauty Clinic
Kuwaiti authorities have arrested an Egyptian veterinarian accused of impersonating a cosmetic surgeon and performing unauthorised medical procedures inside an illegally converted women's salon, according to the Ministry of Interior. The suspect, employed by an agricultural contracting firm, was apprehended during a raid on a women's salon in the Sabah Al Salem area, which had been covertly transformed into an improvised medical clinic, the ministry said in a statement quoted by Arabic-language daily Al Qabas. Investigations revealed that the individual had been injecting clients with cosmetic substances for fees of up to KD 50, despite holding no medical licence or official permission to practise. He reportedly confessed to conducting the procedures under the guise of a qualified aesthetic professional. During the operation, authorities seized a cache of medical and cosmetic equipment, including unlicensed substances, syringes, and a laser device typically used in clinical settings. Three additional individuals — a Kenyan woman and two Egyptian women — were also arrested on charges of performing unlicensed medical and cosmetic work. The salon's owner, whose nationality had recently been revoked, was found to be operating a wider network of six women's health and beauty centres, all functioning as unlicensed clinics. She admitted to converting her premises into treatment facilities and allowing staff to carry out unsupervised aesthetic procedures. She further revealed that an Egyptian associate had been collaborating with her, but is currently outside Kuwait. In a related development, the Interior Ministry announced the arrest of an Egyptian pharmacist employed at the North Sabah Al Salem Centre. He is accused of supplying imported cosmetic products and medical supplies to unlicensed salons. The pharmacist was reportedly distributing the items through a company registered in his name, in violation of Kuwait's laws governing the practice of medicine and the distribution of pharmaceutical products.

Manama The Bahrain Chamber, led by Chairman Sameer Nass, held a consultative meeting with strategic partners of this year's 'Experience It' programme. The meeting was attended by CEO of the Nasser Center for Science and Technology, Dr. Abdullah Al Noaimi, General Manager of Hope Ventures, Latifa Mohammed, and Director of Events and Programs at the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Abdulkarim Al Meer. The meeting was held at the Chamber's headquarters to finalize preparations ahead of the program's launch next week. The discussion centered on the program's mission to equip Bahraini youth with practical experience and in-demand skills, preparing them for the labor market and supporting Bahrain's sustainable development efforts. The initiative aligns with the Kingdom's national vision, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Chairman Nass expressed deep appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, for his continued support. The fourth edition of 'Experience It' will launch next week with an expanded scope, offering training across diverse fields such as stock market fundamentals, engineering and tech innovation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, leadership, entrepreneurship, photography, and video production. This expansion reflects the Chamber's commitment to equipping youth with modern, market-relevant skills and opening new career pathways. The program will be delivered in two phases. The first includes a series of expert-led workshops and theoretical sessions, while the second consists of a two-week internship at private sector organizations, allowing students to apply what they've learned in real-world settings. Nass reaffirmed the Chamber's commitment to building on the program's success. He noted that over the past three editions, the initiative has empowered young Bahrainis to render their training into meaningful career steps, enhancing their competitiveness and role as contributors to national development. He also stressed the value of strong collaboration between the Chamber and its partners in delivering impactful national programs that elevate youth potential and drive economic progress. Nass commended the contributions of the partner institutions. The Nasser Center will provide specialized training in mechanical and electrical engineering, AI, and cybersecurity. Hope Ventures, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs, will lead sessions on leadership and entrepreneurship under Youth City 2030. 'Experience It' is one of the Chamber's flagship youth initiatives, targeting high school students aged 15 to 18. By offering hands-on training in private sector companies, the program aims to spark creativity, foster innovation and entrepreneurial thinking, and guide participants toward career paths aligned with the needs of today's workforce.
