Lokesh Kanagaraj refused villain's role in Sivakarthikeyan's Parasakthi: ‘Dates clashed with Coolie'

Lokesh Kanagaraj, easily one of the most popular and most sought-after filmmakers in the country, is busy promoting his latest film Coolie. The director has been making his presence felt across YouTube channels and podcasts, promoting the Rajinikanth starrer that is already ready to hit the screens on August 14 this month. During one of these interactions, Lokesh Kanagaraj provided a piece of previously unknown movie casting offer, which he turned down. The filmmaker was offered the antagonist role in Sudha Kongara's upcoming political drama Parasakti, opposite Sivakarthikeyan playing the leading man.
The Coolie director expressed the fact that over the years, he has been approached by many filmmakers for acting in their films. Lokesh explains that he had a couple of sittings with director Sudha Kongara for the casting discussions and was interested in going ahead with the acting gig for some time. However, the director had to turn down being part of Parasakthi due to the conflicting timings of the film's shoot, which would interfere with his shooting schedule for Coolie.

The director also confirms that he was advised to take up the role, if possible by Sivakarthikeyan, but the pressure of completing Coolie as per plan convinced Lokesh that he would have to refuse the acting offer.

However, the young filmmaker is all set to make his acting debut as a hero with a gritty gangster drama helmed by Arun Matheswaran, which will go on floors in a few months. Parasakti is a political drama featuring Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Sreeleela, and Atharvaa in the lead roles. The film deals with the famous 'Anti-Hindi' agitation which took place in Tamil Nadu during the 1960's. The film will be released in the upcoming months.

Top 10 world's most influential pop stars: The only Indian artist ranks 22nd; see who made it to the list

Top 10 world's most influential pop stars: Even before a performer's name topped charts or dominated playlists, music has always been that indestructible link connecting people across nations and cultures. It fuels cultural shifts, stirs emotions, and turns fleeting moments into shared experiences. Today's pop singers are doing more than just releasing singles; they are influencing conversations, starting movements, and redefining power in the entertainment sector. The process behind the rankings was as competitive as the music industry itself. Bloomberg reported that nearly 1,20,000 people participated in what it called an 'international ranking experiment.' Fans worldwide voted via HYBE's fan engagement platform Weverse, deciding who advanced through each elimination round. It underscored a truth of modern pop culture: fan communities are not passive audiences, they are active power brokers shaping an artist's global stature. But fan votes were only part of the story. Bloomberg's methodology blended popularity with measurable performance, relying on seven distinct criteria. It factored in gross revenues from live shows over the past three months, ticket sales from the last 30 days, and both physical and digital music performance, tracking four-week album sales, digital song streams, and YouTube views. Social influence played a role too, with the rankings including data on how many followers each artist gained on Instagram and TikTok in the previous month. The result was a list that balanced artistic momentum with hard numbers, creating a snapshot of pop's most commanding figures right now. Beyond the top four, the rankings featured a star-studded mix: Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, J-Hope, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Bad Bunny, Lady Gaga, Katseye, and Shakira all secured places. Himesh Reshammiya, one of Bollywood's most prolific playback singers and music composers, appeared at the 22nd position. At 52, he has recorded over 1,300 songs for Hindi films, lending his voice to hits such as Jhalak Dikhlaja and Tera Surroor. Amitabh Bachchan's first love was a girl named Maya, before he married Jaya Bachchan, revealed celebrity biographer: 'She would scold him, he was advised to break up'

Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan have been married for more than five decades, but before meeting Jaya on the sets of Guddi in 1971, Bachchan had fallen in love with someone else. Big B and Jaya Bachchan tied the knot in 1973 and then had two children - Shweta Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan . But before he became an actor, Bachchan was in love with a girl named Maya. But those around the actor, advised him that she would not fit into the Bachchan family, considering how his parents Harivanshrai Bachchan, Teji Bachchan were. Author and journalist Hanif Zaveri, who is a celebrity biographer, revealed details about Amitabh Bachchan's first romance and how it eventually ended. Speaking to the YouTube channel Meri Saheli, Hanif said that Amitabh's relationship with a woman named Maya began during his time in Calcutta (now Kolkata), when he was earning around ₹250–300 a month. 'She was working at British Airways at the time. Amitabh Bachchan really loved her, and she did too,' he shared. After leaving his Kolkata job, Big B moved to Mumbai to pursue a film career and initially stayed at a Juhu bungalow owned by a friend of his mother, Teji Bachchan. Since Maya visited him frequently and the house owner lived there too, Amitabh worried his mother might find out. 'So he decided to move out of the house,' Hanif said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Use an AI Writing Tool That Actually Understands Your Voice Grammarly Install Now Undo Around this time, he was shooting for his debut film Saat Hindustani alongside Anwar Ali, the brother of Mehmood. Hanif recalled, 'He told Anwar about his worries and Anwar understood his concerns. So Anwar gave him a place to stay at his house,' adding that the apartment belonged to Mehmood and Amitabh stayed there for a while. The relationship with Maya continued, and marriage could have been on the cards, but his career was still uncertain. Hanif described him as 'a very shy man' in those days, while Maya was 'quite cunning.' He explained, 'Sometimes, she wouldn't even bother who was sitting with him and would speak with him as she wanted, she would scold him too.' According to Hanif, Anwar Ali and Amitabh's other friends didn't appreciate this behaviour, and it made Amitabh uneasy as well. Hanif recounted that during a shoot in Goa for Saat Hindustani, Anwar advised him to end the relationship, saying Maya might not fit into the Bachchan family and could create problems in his career. Amitabh, feeling something was missing, began distancing himself from Maya. Eventually, the two broke up and went their separate ways.

One Thousand Miles: Yo Yo Honey Singh drops music video; fans get nostalgic, ‘Bachpana ki yaadein'

Yo Yo Honey Singh has dropped a new music video, One Thousand Miles. This comes a day after the rapper getting into legal trouble over his song, Millionaire. Yo Yo Honey Singh posted the video link on Instagram in collaboration with T-Series. On YouTube, the music label posted, 'The Wait is Over! Presenting the Offical Video Song "One Thousand Miles" from the Album Desi Kalakaar by Yo Yo Honey Singh.' The new track stars Honey Singh and actress Mandy Takhar. Singh wrote the lyrics with Lil Golu and composed the music himself. The music video is directed by Mihir Gulati. The song originally came out in 2014. Fans waited 11 years for the video, which features Honey Singh driving a Lamborghini to meet his love interest, played by Mandy Takhar. The video has received a warm response for its nostalgic vibe and stylish visuals, quickly garnering nearly 2 million views within the first 5 hours of its release. A YouTube user said they had stopped listening to Yo Yo Honey Singh but couldn't resist this song as it was their college-time favourite. They recalled how it helped them through B Tech, especially during long bus rides with earphones in. 'Bro made me feel nostalgic. I remembered those days again when I used to plug in my earphones, get on the college bus, and during that 50km ride to and from college, I'd listen to the whole album,' the user wrote. 'This was my favourite from the album. We used to play it while driving cars in GTA San Andreas. What nostalgia,' exclaimed another user. Another commented, 'Bachpana ki yaadein thi kash jabhi video aata toh aaj tk dekhne m maza aata (It was a memory from childhood. Wish the video had come out back then, it would've been fun to watch even today).' The Punjab Women's Commission took action against Yo Yo Honey Singh and Karan Aujla for allegedly using disrespectful words in their songs Millionaire and MF Gabru. The commission said the lyrics were abusive towards women and gave a wrong message to society. 'Everyone has listened to the song and objected, but it still gets millions of views. It's not just the Women's Commission's responsibility to notice this; listeners and society also must reject such language,' ANI quoted PWC chairperson Raj Lali Gill as saying. 'In the songs, the singer neither controls their language nor considers respecting mothers. They do this to make money,' Gill added.
