‘Coolie' pay chart: Rajinikanth tops with Rs 200 crore; Aamir Khan waives off fee out of respect; Lokesh Kanagaraj bags Rs 50 crore
As the buzz around 'Coolie' reaches fever pitch ahead of its grand Independence Day release, details of the film's cast and crew remuneration have surfaced.
According to a report by Deccan Herald, Rajinikanth, who headlines the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial, has reportedly secured a staggering Rs 200 crore for his role.
Originally set to receive Rs 150 crore, the superstar's fee was revised upwards following the unprecedented surge in advance bookings.
Aamir Khan's gesture wins hearts
One of the most striking revelations is about Bollywood icon Aamir Khan, who makes a brief but significant appearance in 'Coolie'. While early reports suggested a Rs 20 crore fee, reports say that he charged nothing for the role. Aamir is said to have accepted the part purely out of affection and admiration for Rajinikanth.
Big cheques for key players
The rest of the ensemble has also been rewarded handsomely. Telugu star Nagarjuna Akkineni, portraying Simon, reportedly earned Rs 10 crore, while veteran actor Sathyaraj and Kannada icon Upendra each took home Rs 5 crore. Shruti Haasan, playing the female lead, received Rs 4 crore.

Music director Anirudh Ravichander, whose soundtrack is already topping charts, received Rs 15 crore for his work.
Meanwhile, 'Coolie' is surely the next big thing that is happening in the Tamil cinema, or indeed in Indian cinema. With good trailer and song like 'Monica', 'Coolie' has generated good amount of hype among the audiences. On the other hand, even though there are fans for the film, 'War 2' is comparatively generating low buzz among the south audiences, even with the inclusion of the 'RRR' actor Jr. NTR. But the overall buzz is high for both films.

War 2 Box Office Collection Day 1: Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR's starrer fails to create magic, earns less than Tiger 3
The much-anticipated action thriller War 2, featuring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, has finally hit theaters. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, this installment is part of Yash Raj Films' Spy Universe, following the success of films like Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and Tiger 3. Despite the star-studded cast and high expectations, early indicators suggest that War 2 may not replicate the box office success of its predecessors. How did War 2 fall short despite being grand release? One of the primary concerns is the film's advance booking performance. Compared to previous entries in the Spy Universe, War 2 has recorded lower pre-release ticket sales, especially in the Hindi-speaking regions. While the film has garnered attention in the Telugu-speaking states, thanks to Jr. NTR's massive fan base, the overall national response appears subdued. How War 2 became the weakest film of the YRF Spy Universe? When comparing the box office collections of War 2, War, and Tiger 3, there's a clear contrast in their opening day performances. The original War (2019), starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff, set a high benchmark by earning Rs 53.35 crore on its first day, becoming one of the highest Bollywood openers at that time. Tiger 3, released in 2023 with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, also delivered a powerful debut with Rs 44.5 crore on Day 1, fueled by the Diwali holiday and strong fan following. In comparison, War 2, despite its massive scale and addition of Jr. NTR to the cast, reportedly opened with a lower figure of around Rs 31 crore, making it the weakest first-day performer in YRF's Spy Universe. More about Tiger 3 Tiger 3, starring Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi, managed to captivate audiences with its gripping storyline and high-octane action sequences. The film delves into the lives of RAW agent Tiger and ISI agent Zoya, who, despite their tumultuous past, unite to thwart a looming threat. The storyline of Tiger 3 revolves around conspiracy that endangers both India and Pakistan. Tiger and Zoya, now parents, find themselves entangled in a web of deceit, with their loyalty and love tested at every turn. As they navigate this treacherous path, they confront old enemies and forge new alliances, culminating in climax that underscores the importance of unity and trust. More about War 2 War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan as Kabir and Jr NTR in a powerful new role, which has been helmed by Ayan Mukerji, continues the action-packed saga with intense stunts, high-stakes drama, and a face-off between two super-agents while introducing new allies and enemies.

Coolie North America Collections: Rajinikanth's movie SHATTERS RECORDS with USD 2.9 million gross from premieres alone
Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, and starring Rajinikanth is having a bumper first day at the box office worldwide. It has been Coolie-Mania all around. Kollywood records have been broken by a margin, despite the high-profile clash with War 2. While the numbers are excellent everywhere, they are best in North America. The film has amassed USD 2.9 million from premieres alone, and that is around USD 1 million higher than the previous record-holder, Rajinikanth's own Kabali. Coolie Smashes USD 2.9 Million In North America For Premieres; Day 1 Will Comfortably Be Around USD 4 Million The day 1 collections of Coolie look to be over USD 1 million, setting it up well for an opening day of USD 4 million. With good weekend advances, the movie has bright chances to end up as the highest grossing Tamil movie of all time in this region. The word of mouth of the movie is just about average but the huge opening and excellent advances should take it comfortably to the finish line. Coolie's Global Opening Is Pegged At Over Rs 150 Crore Gross; Sets All Time Kollywood Record The global day 1 estimation of Coolie is pegged at around Rs 160 crore gross. The final day 1 collections will be shared officially, tomorrow. A Rs 400 crore extended global weekend can't be discounted with the way things are going for the Rajinikanth movie. The actor has yet again proven his strong initial pull. Even after 50 years, he is able to get audiences to theatres, and not just the Tamil audiences but also the other language audiences. Lokesh Kanagaraj has also, yet again proven that the fanbase that he enjoys as a director is second to probably just SS Rajamouli. Lokesh's frequency of films, which is much better than Rajamouli, keeps him in contention to even claim the top spot. Yes, based on the feedback, there's a lot of scope for improvement. Coolie, despite the record opening, may find itself unable to reach the kind of number that it could and should have reached, in its lifetime. Coolie In Theatres
