'Leaving Unhappy Memories': Prince William, Kate Move To New Home After ‘Brutal' Years
Prince William and Kate Middleton will relocate later this year to Forest Lodge, an eight-bedroom Grade II-listed home in Windsor Great Park, marking what they hope will be a permanent fresh start after several personally challenging years.
Just a short drive from their current residence, Adelaide Cottage, the three-storey red-brick property is intended to be the couple's 'forever home." Telegraph reported, citing sources in the know, that the move follows a difficult period since they settled at Adelaide Cottage in 2022, including the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the cancer diagnoses of both Kate Middleton and King Charles III.
In November last year, Prince William described the previous months as 'probably the hardest year in my life" and 'brutal" from a personal and family perspective. The passing of his grandmother was followed by highly public revelations in Prince Harry's memoir Spare and the Harry & Meghan Netflix series, straining the brothers' relationship further.
Kate Middleton underwent major abdominal surgery in January 2024 and announced a cancer diagnosis two months later, beginning chemotherapy. While she was able to confirm in January this year that she is in remission, King Charles continues to undergo treatment.
A source told Telegraph that the move offers 'an opportunity for a fresh start and a new chapter; an opportunity to leave some of the more unhappy memories behind." The couple, along with their children- Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10 and Prince Louis, 7- are expected to move in before Christmas.
The family has been settled in Windsor since moving from Kensington Palace in 2022, with all three children attending nearby Lambrook School. Prince William and Kate Middleton have maintained a private family environment without live-in staff and plan to continue that arrangement at Forest Lodge, located just four miles from their current home.
The property is undergoing modest renovations- including new doors, windows, and interior updates- funded by the couple themselves. Owned by The Crown Estate, it will be rented at market value. The last major refurbishment was completed in 2001 at a cost of £1.5 million. Prince William and Kate Middleton will retain Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace, refurbished in 2013, and Anmer Hall in Norfolk, which they use during school holidays and weekends.

‘Zombie Squirrels' Spotted In US Gardens, Experts Explain What's Behind It
Last Updated: In the US, zombie squirrels with sores and bald patches have been seen due to squirrel fibromatosis, a virus causing tumors. Experts advise not to touch them; they usually recover. In the US, people claim to have seen 'zombie squirrels" in their gardens — normally cute rodents now appearing with sores and bald patches. It can't be any fun for the poor little critters to be infected with such a visible disease, and according to the Daily Mail, people were spotting them roaming around in wildlife as far back as 2023. No matter how bad it looks to us, it's far worse for a squirrel suffering from what experts believe is a case of squirrel fibromatosis. It's a virus which can be found among grey squirrels in the US and causes large visible tumours which look like warts to grow on the animal's skin, giving them the distinctive 'zombie' appearance people have noticed, LADBible reported. The virus means these warts can ooze pus, and while the squirrel normally recovers, in some cases, the disease will reach the internal organs and result in death for the little fuzzy creatures. According to wildlife experts, part of the reason for the more noticeable spread of the disease is people leaving bird feeders out in their gardens. Since it's a place for squirrels to congregate, it may be a spot where the disease is spread from animal to animal. Fortunately, the virus doesn't affect humans, but experts caution against touching or trying to help infected squirrels. In most cases, the animals recover on their own, and there's little humans can do to intervene. Wildlife biologist Shevenell Webb told the Bangor Daily News that, despite their alarming appearance, she 'would not recommend attempting to capture a squirrel infected with the virus." They explained: 'It's like when you get a large concentration of people, if someone is sick and it's something that spreads easily, others are going to catch it." The expert pointed out that people putting up bird feeders could actually be contributing to the spread of the virus. She said: 'You have one squirrel eating at the feeder that has the virus, and its saliva gets on the feeder of the other seeds, then another squirrel comes along and comes in contact with that saliva – it's the perfect place to spread squirrel pox." 'Like a lot of people, I love watching birds. Unfortunately, you can attract multiple squirrels to that feeder and risk exposure if one has the virus." BJD chief Naveen Patnaik stable, releases video message to people
Bhubaneswar, Aug 18 (PTI) BJD chief Naveen Patnaik, who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital here for dehydration, is now stable and has been shifted from the observation room to a cabin, according to a hospital bulletin. Patnaik, who was admitted to SUM Ultimate Medicare on Sunday due to dehydration, in a video message thanked people for their good wishes. 'The doctors and staff in the Sum Ultimate Medicare are taking wonderful care of me. If u want to see me, you are more than welcome to come Naveen Niwas here at Bhubaneswar. Thank You," the Leader of the Opposition in Odisha Assembly said in the message. In a post on X, Patnaik said, 'Thank the people of #Odisha for the good wishes. I would like to thank the doctors and medical staff for taking wonderful care of me. I am recovering well and will meet the people soon." Patnaik issued the message to people as a large number of his supporters and well-wishers from different parts of the state gathered outside the hospital and wanted to meet him. The hospital in a bulletin at 6 PM said, 'Naveen Patnaik is recovering: Moved to cabin. Shri Naveen Patnaik was shifted to a cabin from the observation room of Sam Ultimate Medicare on Monday afternoon. His health is improving and his condition remains stable. Mr. Patnaik is feeling fresh and his treatment is continuing". BJD vice-president Sanjay Das Burma said, 'Patnaik is now stable and has recovered from the dehydration problem." Meanwhile, BJD workers offered 'diya' (lamps) at the Shree Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, praying for Patnaik's speedy recovery. Leaders across political lines also wished him well.
