Buy The Dip in Okta, There's Nothing Wrong With the Outlook
Cybersecurity stock OKTA fell more than 15% following its Q1 release, but investors should cheer while they back up the truck to load up on shares.

You would think that Okta's (NASDAQ: OKTA) FQ1 earnings release was weaker than expected and compounded by poor guidance, the way its stock price fell after its release. Down more than 15% for the week, the only thing wrong with the report is a hint of caution in the full-year guidance.
The full-year guidance was only reaffirmed, despite a solid Q1 performance and hot guidance for Q2.
The outlook assumes slowing growth, which is offset by outperformance in Q1, momentum in the underlying cybersecurity business, and a high likelihood of increasing as the year progresses.
There were some negative responses from analysts, but the takeaway from the activity is nothing but bullish. The negative revisions have reduced the high-end potential but are mainly to above-consensus price points and are offset by a higher number of price target increases. The net result is that the consensus price target is rising, up 5% in May and 16% year-over-year (YOY) at the start of June, a bullish trend compounded by increasing coverage and firming sentiment.
The consensus sentiment for this stock is a Moderate Buy, up from last year's Hold. The single post-release downgrade tracked by MarketBeat, from Moderate Buy to Hold, cites valuation concerns that are not reflected in the revision trend. The bulk of analysts expect this stock to rise at least 20% from the May close, leading to a high-end range of $130 to $140, a nearly 40% gain when reached.
Okta Growth Slows; Sustains a Double-Digit Pace in 2025 and Healthy Cash Flow
Okta had a solid quarter in Q1. Although top-line growth slowed to 11.5% from last year's nearly 20% pace, it was sufficient to outpace the consensus estimate by more than 100 basis points. The strength was driven by growth in the core subscription business, which grew by 12% year over year.
Margin news is also solid, with gross and operating margins widening compared to the prior year, driving a record profit. Critical details include the positive cash flow and $238.1 million in free cash flow, which accounts for approximately 34.6% of the revenue.
The guidance is good despite the cautiousness in the full-year forecasts. The Q2 guide assumes another 10% YOY gain in revenue and may also be cautious due to the 14% increase in current remaining performance obligation (CRPO) and the 21% increase in RPO. Regardless, the full-year outlook also forecasts a roughly 10% gain, sufficient to sustain the company's cash flow, business growth trajectory, and fortress balance sheet. Highlights at the end of Q1 include a 2.5% increase in shareholder equity and net debt equal to less than 0.2x equity.
Investors Should Expect Volatility for Okta Stock Price in June
[content-module:Forecast|NASDAQ:OKTA]
Analysts indicate Okta's stock price as higher, an outlook supported by institutional activity; however, short interest could be a problem. The short interest wasn't robust in the mid-May report, but it was elevated at nearly 5%, a long-term high, and had been rising over the preceding few months. With this in play, investors can expect to see short interest rise again in the following report and potentially remain elevated until later in the year.
The catalyst for short-covering will be upcoming earnings releases.
The price action in OKTA stock is ugly. The market's 15% decline confirms resistance at a critical level, but it may have already priced in the weakness. At $103, OKTA is still above the crucial support target near a cluster of moving averages that includes the 150-day EMA and the long-term 150-week EMA.
Assuming the market remains above that level, the rebound may begin quickly as the market reversal that began last year gains momentum. If not, this market could fall to $90 or lower before rebounding.

2 Reasons AMC Stock Is Soaring in June
Memorial Day weekend set moviegoing records, and a lot of the sales went to AMC as the largest theater chain. With many expected hit movies slated for release, management thinks it's turned a corner. AMC stock is still down year to date and the company has a lot to prove. 10 stocks we like better than AMC Entertainment › AMC (NYSE: AMC) is the largest movie theater operator in the world, but being the leader in a troubled industry hasn't done much for the company over the past few years. With the advent of streaming and residual fears from the pandemic, moviegoing just isn't what it once was and AMC continues to struggle. However, Memorial Day weekend was a boon for the company and AMC stock has been climbing. Let's see why and what it means for the future. Streaming from home has taken a toll on the box office, but there is still life left in theaters. Four of the top 10 highest-grossing films ever were released since the pandemic started, including Avatar: The Way of Water in the No. 3 spot and last year's Inside Out 2. People are still going to the movies. That fact was reinforced with a record Memorial Day weekend in May. Disney's live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch had the highest-ever four-day Memorial Day opening, and it was buttressed by a strong showing for Paramount's Mission: Impossible -- The Final Reckoning. Altogether, these two topped a blowout weekend with $326.7 million in domestic ticket sales, and Lilo & Stitch is already the second-highest-grossing domestic film of the year. Of course, that success trickled down to generate incredible financial results for AMC. Management said it set an all-time record for admissions revenue, food and beverage revenue, and total revenue for a weekend Memorial Day opening, and that the five-day stretch was the third-highest revenue for any five-day slot in more than 10 years. As for attendance, this was the highest-attended weekend and highest-attended five-day period of the year, both domestically and globally. Management didn't provide specific financial metrics for the weekend, so investors aren't likely to hear the nitty-gritty details until the second-quarter earnings release sometime in July or August. But management's update and optimism are boosting investor confidence. It's nice for the company to have a solid, record-breaking opening, but can it last? Management thinks so, and the market may be pricing that in. CEO Adam Aron said that after this weekend, AMC has turned a corner. "With many more potentially huge movies coming in June all the way through the end of 2025, and beyond that deeply into 2026 as well," he said, "we firmly expect to be enjoying a robust theatrical box office as we look ahead." Here's what to be excited about. Disney has a full slate of films coming out over the next few years, including the third film in the Avatar series. The first two are the highest-grossing and third-highest-grossing films ever, and the next film is slated for release this coming December. It also has the next Frozen film and other top franchises coming out soon. Warner Bros. has its own expected hits coming out, including a new Superman, and Comcast's Universal Studios has the next installment of Wicked and a new Shrek. Sequels to popular franchises can be big business. But the company is still reporting revenue declines and losses as of the 2025 first quarter. It will take some time to see if AMC has indeed turned a corner. As the price has increased in June, so has the short interest in AMC, hitting almost 15% of all outstanding shares. These investors are betting on this being a short-term boost and that the price will fall from this surge. Even though AMC stock is up 29% over the past month, it's still down 15% year-to-date. Unless the company releases incredibly strong earnings for the second quarter and keeps up its performance, the price jump may not last. Part of what's frustrating about that for investors is that many variables are beyond the company's control. It's up to film producers to create hit movies that bring viewers into theaters and to make the decision to keep them there long enough before they hit streaming services. That can be quite lumpy. You need to have real confidence in the future of the film industry and the resilience of theaters as a beckoning call for die-hard fans to want to invest in AMC's future, and for most investors, that time isn't now. Don't Count on a Sustained Fed-ECB Decoupling, Schnabel Says
It would be wrong to expect a persistent policy divergence between the US Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank, according to Executive Board member Isabel Schnabel. 'I expect this trade conflict to play out as a global shock that's working for both global demand and supply — we can discuss which of the two effects on inflation is larger because that that determines the net effect,' the German central banker said on Saturday.
