TPCC to have a jumbo executive committee with over 100 office bearers; Revanth and Mahesh to meet high command on Cabinet expansion on May 30

The Hindu26-05-2025

The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) will soon have a jumbo executive committee with over 100 office bearers holding the positions of vice-presidents and general secretaries. However, the much-anticipated State Cabinet expansion has been pushed by at least a week as the deliberations on the induction of more Ministers could not be held on Monday as AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge was not present in New Delhi.
Highly placed sources in the Congress said TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, who met Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Monday, discussed the composition of the TPCC executive committee. If everything goes right, the executive will be announced in the next two days.
'There will be at between 30-40 vice-presidents and at least 75 general secretaries. The idea is to recognise all those, who have worked hard for the party and ensured it came to power,' a top source told The Hindu on Monday.
Other office bearers of the TPCC executive and the District Congress Committee chiefs will be announced after few more days, sources said adding that due care has been taken to include all sections of the society giving social engineering an important place.
Meanwhile, Telangana Congress leaders led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will meet the high command once again in Delhi on the May 30 to continue discussions on Cabinet expansion.
Since Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge was not available in New Delhi on Monday, the meeting scheduled for the discussion on the Cabinet expansion has been postponed. The high command has instructed Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud and senior leaders to visit Delhi again on the May 30.
Accompanied by Mr. Mahesh Kumar, the Chief Minister met with AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal in New Delhi on Sunday and deliberated upon the constitution of the new TPCC executive committee as well as Cabinet expansion.
Meanwhile, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar, who spoke to the media in New Delhi after meeting Mr. Rahul Gandhi, said that Mr. Gandhi had agreed to expand the State Cabinet at the earliest. He added that they had been urging the party high command to ensure representation for Backward Class (BC) leaders in the impending Cabinet expansion.
He said that he along with his family members paid a courtesy call on AICC leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. 'I apprised him of steps being taken to strengthen the party in Telangana and urged him to take steps for Cabinet expansion, for which he assured to do so,' Mr. Mahesh Kumar said, adding that he had explained the Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan programmes being held in the State. 'Mr. Rahul Gandhi appreciated our programmes,' he said.
In response to a query about the allotment of ministership to BC legislators, Mr. Mahesh Kumar Goud said that they had been requesting party leaders to accord priority to BC leaders in the Cabinet.
Mr. Revanth Reddy returned to Hyderabad later in the evening.

Mahesh Goud dares Harish Rao for open debate on Kaleshwaram

Hyderabad: TPCC Chief B Mahesh Kumar Goud dared BRS leader Harish Rao for open debate on BRS' misrule. He reiterated that Harish Rao and BJP MP Eatala Rajender held a meeting recently, claiming he has substantial evidence to prove that. Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Mahesh Goud held that Harish Rao, who was boastful of the Kaleshwaram project with a cost of Rs 1.2 lakh crore, should come for an open debate. 'Harish Rao is speaking as if all the projects in Telangana were constructed under the BRS regime. Kaleshwaram's funding has all gone down the drain and has failed even to irrigate an acre of land. With all the Rs 1.2 lakh crore, only poor quality projects were constructed, which could not withstand even three years after being built,' said Mahesh Goud. The PCC president urged Harish Rao to first clear the mess created by MLC K Kavitha before taking on the Congress government and its leaders. He ridiculed the browbeating of the former Irrigation Minister and wondered if BRS would survive to see the next Assembly polls. 'Harish Rao is claiming his party would win 100 seats. Given the scenario, it is doubtful if you can even get a B-form for yourself. You should first decide which group you will represent, as BRS is on the brink of collapse,' he wondered.

Modi bowed to Trump, but Indira made Pak bow by confronting US: Jagga Reddy

Hyderabad: Telangana PCC working president T Jagga Reddy claimed here on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi bowed to US President Donald Trump. This was in contrast to ex-prime minister Indira Gandhi, who made Pakistan bow by confronting the US, he said at a press conference in Gandhi Bhavan. Reddy pointed out that terrorists infiltrated from Pakistan into Kashmir and killed 26 people, yet the BJP government showed no response. 'You made mistakes; why blame Rahul Gandhi? Kishan Reddy and Sanjay must answer for their failures, otherwise, we will retaliate', he warned. According to Reddy, Rahul Gandhi, as the Opposition leader, demanded a parliamentary session and answers for people. 'Was that a crime? You compromised because of Trump, but you blame Rahul Gandhi's family? You are the ones doing politics using Pakistan, it was Modi who secretly visited the Pakistani PM's house. BJP ministers answer this. Rahul Gandhi never visited Pakistan. Modi, however, skipped Atal Bihari Vajpayee's birthday, went to Pakistan, fed cake to Nawaz Sharif, and gave clothes to his mother,' the Congress leader said. The TPCC leader wanted the BJP to apologise for spreading false propaganda against Rahul Gandhi as baseless allegations were being made against him. He claimed that the BJP government was in shock. 'Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay are attacking Rahul Gandhi. Instead of answering Rahul Gandhi's questions, Modi is criticising him. The Intelligence department must answer how terrorists entered Kashmir and killed 26 people in a park. Kishan Reddy and Sanjay must answer why has Modi still not addressed the nation? While in a state of slumber, you're criticising Rahul Gandhi and diverting politics. You made mistakes—why blame the opposition leader? You speak ignorantly despite having knowledge,' he said. Reddy said while a war seemed imminent, people believed Modi would defeat Pakistan; suddenly news broke that the war was stopped. Everyone expected a statement from Modi, but instead, Trump made the announcement. 'Rahul Gandhi said, 'Go ahead with the war, we will stand behind you'. But it was Trump who announced that he stopped the India-Pakistan war. Isn't it shameful that Trump announced the ceasefire instead of Modi? You compromised, and yet you blame our leader,' he thundered. 'As soon as Trump made that announcement, Indira Gandhi's legacy started trending on social media. People opposed Modi bowing to Trump's words. During Indira Gandhi's time, even when America tried to interfere, she boldly stated that no interference was needed,' he said. He claimed that Modi skipped Vajpayee's birthday to go to Pakistan. 'Didn't he go to Nawaz Sharif's house and touch his mother's feet? You must answer this. Is it appropriate to go to Pakistan secretly on Vajpayee's birthday? Kishan Reddy and Sanjay must answer, then talk about Rahul Gandhi. Where do you hide your face for Modi's mistakes? Indira Gandhi was compared to Goddess Durga in Parliament. Modi abrogated Article 370… then why is terrorism back? A PM who cursed Pakistan three times, yet didn't even identify the person who killed 26 people. Don't you feel ashamed, Kishan Reddy', he asked. Jagga Reddy asserted that BJP leaders in Telangana have heads but no brains, and that they are full of conspiracies and deceit.

After All-Party Op Sindoor Teams Return, Will It Be Congress Vs Congress In Parliament?

Last Updated: The bonhomie among members of the all-party teams and support for Operation Sindoor have raised the question if the Congress-led opposition will be effective in the next session The Congress and other opposition parties like the Trinamool Congress are gearing up for the big fight as soon as Parliament is in session. But, there is a catch. The bonhomie among members of the all-party teams that the central government sent abroad and their strong words of support for Operation Sindoor has raised a question: Will this camaraderie be a hurdle in the opposition's fight to make things tough for the Prime Minister and government in Parliament? The PM plans to meet the delegation members once they are back from their trips. Their diplomatic efforts will be appreciated while the camaraderie shown outside India could spill over once the session begins. The Congress, for example, is certainly geared up to ask the PM some questions, led by leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge. They want to know if the US mediated a ceasefire between India and Pakistan; what the progress is so far in the investigation into the Pahalgam terror attack; and if India suffered any casualties during the military standoff? Significantly, some Congress leaders representing the delegations – Salman Khurshid, Manish Tewari, and Shashi Tharoor – have completely rejected the possibility of a US mediation. In this situation, with these leaders clearly taking a stand different from the party's, the Centre will certainly use them to counter-question the Congress. What has become even more embarrassing for the Congress is that Khurshid, who has a better standing in the party than Tharoor has now, has also wondered insinuations are being made about their stand for the nation. For these leaders, having stood by the government over allegations made by the Congress, it will be difficult for them to agree with what Gandhi has to say about Operation Sindoor. Many see the idea of sending out the delegations as an ace move from the government, which has been repeatedly asked to hold a special session on Pahalgam attack as well as India's subsequent action against Pakistan. These multi-party teams have come as a massive boost for the government, especially as it wants to counter the Congress narrative that is trying to project Narendra Modi as a weak PM. The confusion within the Congress, however, will not only weaken its battle in Parliament but also shows how weak its top leadership is with multiple voices contradicting the official party stand. Not just this, it also shows the iron grip that the Gandhis once had may be loosening.
