Tirupati: Chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday underscored the need for a conciliatory approach and greater cooperation between the two Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on resolving water disputes.
Speaking at a public meeting near Malyala in Nandyal district, Naidu referred to his meeting with his Telangana counterpart Revanth Reddy in New Delhi for talks on issues concerning water sharing between the two states.
"There is no need for the two Telugu states to be at loggerheads with each other over water sharing as prosperity of both states is equally important for all of us. We have mutually agreed to establish the Godavari river management board at Hyderabad and the Krishna river management board in Vijayawada. Andhra Pradesh will take full responsibility for the funding and execution of Srisailam plunge pool works, a crucial component for the reservoir's stability and operational efficiency," the CM said.
Further demonstrating the spirit of cooperation, Naidu revealed that he has offered Telangana the option to utilise Godavari waters if necessary and said he has sought their active cooperation for river interlinking projects.

Pawan Kalyan's Hari Hara Veera Mallu posters torn by Kannada activists in Bengaluru. Video

A group of self-identified Kannada activists stormed into a Bengaluru theatre on the release day of Hari Hara Veera Mallu, tearing down posters of the Telugu film starring Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. Their primary objection is the absence of Kannada language on the promotional material displayed at the venue. Pawan Kalyan's poster torn in Bengaluru by Kannada activists. Also Read -'Is running a crime?': Bengaluru run club member shares video of alleged police threats Take a look at the video Several videos from the incident surfaced online, showing the activists ripping posters and banners amid fan celebrations outside the theatre. The confrontation reportedly occurred in a Bengaluru theatre where Pawan Kalyan fans had put up large displays to mark the movie's release. The activists argued that in Karnataka, especially Bengaluru, it is essential to include Kannada in all movie posters. 'If you want to put up posters in this city, Kannada must be included,' one of them is seen saying in a video. The scene led to a brief altercation between the fans and the activists, though it did not escalate further. The videos quickly spread across social media, igniting a debate over language, regional identity, and inclusivity. Some users online backed the activists, asserting that Kannada should be given prominence in Karnataka. 'Good job by the activists. Kannada posters must be put up in Karnataka. Telugu influence is growing in Bengaluru, and many from Andhra and Telangana don't even bother to learn Kannada,' one user commented. One person who claimed to be present at the theatre wrote, 'I'm a Kannadiga. I was there. Around 95% of the banners had Kannada text. Stop using sensitive issues like this for political attention. This only fuels resentment.' Another user added context, saying the activists were not objecting to the film itself, but to the absence of Kannada in certain posters and the disturbance caused by loud music and fireworks during such film releases.

CM Revanth Reddy urge Centre to appoint Dattatreya as next Vice-President of India

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday urged the NDA government to appoint former Haryana and Himachal Pradesh Governor Bandaru Dattatreya as the next Vice-President of India. Responding to questions about the resignation of Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Revanth said during a press conference in New Delhi: 'I do not know the reasons for his resignation. But it is unfortunate. The Vice-President post should now go to Telangana. Earlier, there were discussions that Venkaiah Naidu would be made the President after completing his term as Vice-President, but that did not happen. He was sent home. The NDA has made a 'ghar wapsi' of Telugu-speaking leaders. So now, Dattatreya from Telangana should be made Vice-President.' The CM also criticised the BJP for removing Dattatreya as Governor, replacing Bandi Sanjay as Telangana BJP president with G Kishan Reddy and now with N Ramchander Rao. 'The NDA is removing OBC leaders from all key positions,' he said. Revanth alleged that the BJP-led Union government is neglecting Telugu-speaking people, stating that after Hindi speakers, they form the largest linguistic group in the country.
