The Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad is with the
Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee
and the priests on this issue and strongly condemns this act of Akhilesh Yadav, he said.
Instead of replicating Kedarnath, the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister should build another temple dedicated to lord Shiva, he said.

Mahamandaleshwar Swami Lalitananda Giri also said that the construction of
Kedareshwar temple
in Etawah is wrong.
A temple of Lord Shiva under any other name can be built anywhere but building a temple anywhere else in the name of the 12th Jyotirlinga is wrong, Giri said.
Earlier, an attempt was made to build a temple on the lines of Kedarnath in Delhi but the idea was dropped after vehement protests from the priests of Kedarnath.

Government blocks 25 OTT platforms for obscenity
This is a representational AI image (Pic credit: Lexica) NEW DELHI: In a sweeping crackdown on digital obscenity, the ministry of information and broadcasting has directed internet service providers to block public access to 25 OTT platforms, including Ullu, ALTT and Desiflix, for hosting sexually explicit, obscene, and, in some cases, pornographic content. The directive, issued on July 23, also covers 26 websites and 14 mobile applications associated with these platforms. The action follows repeated warnings to these platforms and comes after consultations with the ministries of home affairs, electronics and IT, the department of legal affairs, industry bodies like FICCI and CII, and experts on women and child rights. Sources said the decision was triggered by growing public grievances and the platforms' persistent violation of IT Rules, 2021, and Indian obscenity laws. Platforms like Ullu and ALTT had been flagged by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) in 2024 for content containing sexual innuendo and nudity with little or no narrative context. Ullu had to remove its series House Arrest in May 2025 after govt intervention. A similar crackdown took place in 2024 when 18 OTT platforms, such as Dreams Films, Rabbit, Hunters, and Prime Play, were blocked. In many cases, government officials said, the content violated sections 67 and 67A of the IT Act, Section 292 of IPC, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Learn More - How Watching Videos Can Boost Your Income TheDaddest Undo Former Central Information Commissioner Uday Mahurkar, who heads the 'Save Culture Save Bharat Foundation', lauded the govt for banning the applications and websites, calling it a "digital surgical strike". "We congratulate the Centre for its courageous first step in this dharma yuddha (righteous war) to protect the soul of our nation. This ban is a victory for every Indian family," he said. Mahurkar added in a statement, "However, this is only the first battle. A one-time ban is not enough. We need systemic legal and technological reforms to permanently safeguard our cultural values and make Digital India a truly value-based and safe space for our children."

No funds from muzrai temples diverted: DGR
Mangaluru: Minister for health and family welfare, Dinesh Gundu Rao, expressed concern over the spread of false information accusing the govt of diverting revenue from endowment temples for other purposes. Stating that the govt utilises the revenue from muzrai temples exclusively for the development of religious shrines under the department, the minister said that a few organisations have been spreading malicious campaigns against the govt with a political agenda. Rao was speaking at a consultation meeting with the management committee members of temples under the Hindu religious institutions and charitable endowments department on Friday. The Congress govt under chief minister Siddaramaiah increased 'tasdik' (remuneration for archaks) from Rs 24,000 to Rs 36,000 per year, and later to Rs 48,000 during his previous term. "The govt has further increased the tasdik to Rs 72,000. There is a political conspiracy to portray the Congress govt as anti-Hindu," Rao alleged. The state govt passed the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments (Amendment) Bill to make provisions to utilise a portion of revenue from rich temples for the development of Hindu shrines with lower income. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo "While the BJP opposed the bill, the governor has referred it to the President of India for approval," he said, and called upon endowment temple management committees to submit a memorandum to the governor and the President, seeking approval for the bill. MLC Manjunath Bhandary said that to prevent this malicious campaign, all endowment temples should put up notice boards clarifying that 'no funds from Hindu temples are diverted for other purposes.' He demanded that members of all B and C Grade endowment temples should be given ID cards from the department. Shwetha Palli, executive officer of Bappanadu Durgaparameshwari Temple, noted that 493 temples in Dakshina Kannada come under the muzrai department, of which 10 generate the highest income. MLC Ivan D'Souza, deputy commissioner Darshan HV and zilla panchayat CEO Narwade Vinayak Karbhari were present.

Jharkhand eyes second Sainik School
1 2 Ranchi: The state govt is planning to establish another Sainik School in the state to expand opportunities for students aspiring to join the armed forces. Chief secretary Alka Tiwari on Friday directed the state education department to initiate groundwork for the proposed institution. The department has been asked to identify potential locations and prepare necessary documentation so that a formal proposal can soon be submitted to the Union govt for approval. Currently, the state has only one Sainik School at Tilaiya in Koderma district which was established in 1963. "With 875 enrolled students, Tilaiya's Sainik School has the highest number of students enrolled among all the Sainik Schools across the country. To expand opportunities for the students of the state aspiring to join the armed forces, there is a need of another Sainik School in the state," the chief secretary said, directing the secretary of school education department to initiate groundwork for the proposed institution. Tiwari assured representatives of the existing Sainik School that all basic needs of the school will be met without any negligence, while chairing a meeting on Friday regarding various proposals and issues related to the school. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Learn More - How Watching Videos Can Boost Your Income TheDaddest Undo During the meeting, a decision was taken to roll out new water supply project worth Rs 9.49 crore at the school. "The technical approval for this has been received from the department of drinking water and sanitation. Instructions were given to propose the construction of a sewage treatment plant at the school. Additionally, the building construction department was directed to maintain the staff quarters at the school," chief secretary Tiwari said. Meanwhile, the school authority appealed to the state govt to bear the costs of pensions, family pensions, NPS, and other benefits for the school staff, which is estimated to be around Rs 7 crore. In light of this, the chief secretary instructed the school education department to examine the models of Sainik Schools in other states and proceed accordingly. Tiwari directed to conduct annual health check-ups for students in Koderma, which was previously conducted in Hazaribag. Union minister of state for defence, Sanjay Seth in April said 100 additional Sainik Schools will be established across the country in public-private-partnership (PPP) mode.
