Jets' Breece Hall Ready To Cash In On 'Potential' After Taking 'Blame' originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
New York Jets running back Breece Hall is one of the most talented backs in football, but he doesn't have the stats to back it up in his first three NFL seasons.

Breece has yet to hit 1,000 yards or have more than five rushing touchdowns in a season, which, for any great back, are two statistics that are usually far higher.
But after a season where he, along with most of the offense under Aaron Rodgers, failed miserably, Hall is ready to put that behind him as he copped a fair share of the blame for the offense's inconsistent form.
'It's always frustrating when you're not as a team and then individually when you're not winning games and playing as well as you expect,' Hall said. 'Then after that, there's always somebody to blame or somebody that blame gets puts on, and a lot of it just so happened to be on me.
"So it was like okay, just get back to the drawing board, get back to working hard. I know what I can do, the potential I have, but potential only goes so far. I want to be a [finished] product, to be able to say that I've done everything I wanted to do.'

Set to be part of a three-back system under Engstrand with Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis, Breece won't be the No. 1 bellcow he has been for his first three seasons.

That isn't ideal when you're fighting for a new contract, and to show the new regime you deserve to be the top dog.
But Hall is putting his head down and getting to work as he looks to put a poor 2024 season (876 yards, five touchdowns) behind him, and hit the ground running under Engstrand.
There is no denying Breece's potential as an NFL running back, but is 2025 when that potential manifests itself into something tangible?
His Jets future might depend on it.

The Russell Wilson trait that can transform the Giants offense

Darius Slayton's comments were telling. He did not mention Daniel Jones by name when describing Russell Wilson's deep-ball ability. But as the longest-tenured Giant (tied with Dexter Lawrence), having played pretty much his whole career with Jones as his quarterback, there's really nobody else with whom he has significant experience in the NFL. And he already notices an important difference with Wilson.

WATCH: Is Josh Allen the NFL's best quarterback entering 2025?

WATCH: Is Josh Allen the NFL's best quarterback entering 2025? Ranking the quarterbacks across the NFL is always a popular offseason debate because it brings on arguments of people standing up for their favorite team's signal caller. As for who the best quarterback in the NFL is, well there hasn't been much of a debate in recent years. With the success of the Kansas City Chiefs under head coach Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes has been undeniable as the league's top dog. But, that has changed over the last year. It's not like Mahomes has fallen off a cliff, but his performance over the last couple years hasn't been up to par with the electric start to his NFL career. And so, guys like Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Joe Burrow have caught up to him in terms of individual performance, and they have probably surpassed him at this point. Allen makes the best argument for the new ringleader among NFL QBs. He hasn't gotten past Mahomes' Chiefs in the postseason yet (0-4 in his career), but his individual play has surpassed Mahomes. Allen took home the league's MVP in 2024 after leading the Buffalo Bills to a 13-4 record in a season which many thought they would be going through a slight rebuild. Instead, he led the team to the AFC title game after posting his fifth-straight 40-touchdown season (no NFL QB has accomplished this feat in more than three straight seasons). For a few years, the only knock on Allen was that he committed too many turnovers. Not only did he clean that up in 2024 (only six on the year), but he kept his high-level of playmaking and still made everyone around him better. This is why declaring Allen as the NFL's best QB is picking up steam. Pro Football Focus' Sam Monson is the latest to say Allen is the best in the land right now, saying, "I think Allen's the guy right now." Watch the clip from Monson below:
