Govt. to train, issue licenses to 5,000 surveyors soon to implement new land records law properly

The Hindu09-05-2025

HYDERABAD
The Telangana government has decided to strengthen the Survey, Settlement and Land Records department by making available about 5,000 licensed surveyors soon as part of its plans to settle the land disputes pending for long and offer improved services to people, particularly the landholding farmers.
According to Minister for Revenue, Housing and Public Relations Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, those interested in land surveying and planning to get a licence from the government would be required to apply for training by May 17 so that the department could provide them training. The present availability of 402 surveyors would not be sufficient to realise the objectives of the new Land Administration Act.
He stated that the role of the survey wing would be crucial in the implementation of Bhu Bharati Act brought in by the government since it had been mandatory to attach the land map along with the registration documents as part of the land registration process. The government was also planning to fill the vacancies of surveyors within the department along with issuing licences to private surveyors after proper training.
The government was also planning to procure and bring into use modern land survey tools — equipment used for surveying lands, the Minister said at a review meeting of the Survey, Settlement and Land Records departments held here on Friday.
The applicants for the land surveyors' training and licence would be required to have at least Intermediate qualification with 60% marks and mathematics as one of the subjects or those who have completed Draftsman (Civil) from the ITIs (Industrial Training Institutes), Diploma (Civil), B. Tech (Civil) or any other equivalent qualification.
The training fee for unreserved categories' candidates would be ₹10,000 followed by ₹5,000 for backward classes' candidates and ₹2,500 for those for SC and ST categories. Those selected for the training would be given training in all district headquarters for 50 working days by the Telangana Academy for Land Information and Management.
Principal Secretary (Revenue) Navin Mittal, Commissioner of Survey, Settlement and Land Records Jyoti Buddha Prakash, CCLA Project Director M. Makarandu and others attended the meeting.

Indiramma houses for urban poor with G+3 model: Ponguleti

Hyderabad: Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Friday said that the government would take up construction of Indiramma Houses in the urban areas of the state with G+3 floors without affecting their livelihood. The Housing Minister had a review meeting with the officials on Friday. The Minister said that with the aim of fulfilling the dream of the poor to have their own house, the state government has launched the construction of Indiramma Houses which has almost ended in the rural areas. He said that the focus now has been shifted on the construction of Indiramma Houses in urban areas as well. The Minister said that he poor living in the slums of the cities prefer to stay there, as they were not interested in houses, especially if they are built far from Hyderabad, as it would affect their livelihood. In the past, 42,000 houses were built far from Hyderabad, but only about 19,000 people moved there. He said that a recent field survey revealed that only 13,000 people were living in those houses. Taking all these factors into consideration, it has been decided to construct Indiramma Indlu in urban areas, mainly in the slums of Hyderabad city, where the poor are present, using the G+3 method. As part of this, 16 slums were identified in Hyderabad in the first phase. He said that work was being done to implement the same system in other cities like Warangal, Nizamabad, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda and Karimnagar. Srinivasa Reddy said that for the tribals who have been without shelter for years, 13,266 Indiramma houses were sanctioned to Chenchu, Kolam, Thoti and Kondared in the four ITDA areas of Bhadrachalam, Utnoor, Eturunagaram and Munnanur. He also said that 8,750 houses were already sanctioned to the 16 ST constituencies in the state. With this, 22,016 Indiramma houses were sanctioned to the tribals so far. The Minister directed the officials to take steps to immediately identify the beneficiaries of these houses and start the construction. He asked the officials to continuously monitor the construction of houses in line with the government's goal of being more proactive in sanctioning and constructing Indiramma houses. He said that no state government in the country has spent Rs 5 lakh for the houses of the poor, and that the goal of this government was to construct and provide Indiramma houses to every eligible person in the state as promised in the elections, and the authorities should work accordingly.

Govt staff JAC defers strike plan after cabinet accepts key demands

Hyderabad: The govt employees joint action committee (JAC) has indefinitely postponed their strike scheduled to be launched from June 9 following the state cabinet's decision to release two DAs and accept some of their main demands such as health cards and transfers. The JAC will meet again by the end of the month after the cabinet decisions are formally documented to decide their future course of action. JAC secretary general Eluri Sreenivasa Rao told TOI that the announcement of two DAs, govt agreeing to clear Rs 700 crore per month in pending bills of employees, constitution of a medical invalidation committee, health cards, a departmental promotion committee for transfers and recognition of employees' unions were some of the main demands of the JAC that have been agreed to by the govt. "As a result, the JAC has decided to indefinitely postpone its strike call. However, the govt did not announce anything about our other main demands such as 51% fitment (Pay Revision Commission) and reverting to the old pension system. There were a total of 57 demands, and the JAC is expecting to meet again with the IAS officers' committee led by Navin Mittal and cabinet sub-committee led by deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka to seek a commitment from the govt on the remaining demands," Sreenivasa Rao said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Esta nueva alarma con cámara es casi regalada en San Rafael (ver precio) Verisure Undo Sources in the govt said that although the cabinet discussed the 51% fitment (PRC) demand, it was of the view that more time was needed to announce a consensual fitment, if not 51%, as the govt has decided to clear pending bills of employees every month and has also announced two DAs, both of which are financially intensive demands. "A decision on increasing the retirement age of govt employees was kept pending, anticipating severe backlash from the students and unemployed youth. The govt is of the opinion that no step should be taken at this juncture which may antagonise the youth, who are happy with the incumbent govt giving nearly 60,000 jobs in its first year of office. A decision on the age of superannuation may be taken after panchayat and municipal polls, but only after giving job notifications for at least another 30,000 govt posts," said the source. Regarding the employees' demand for reverting to the old pension system, an election promise of the Congress, sources said the govt may make an announcement about it only in the last year of its present term or a few months before the next assembly elections.
