Power utilities prepared to meet any demand for energy this Kharif season: Principal Secretary (Energy) Navin Mittal

HYDERABAD The power utilities of the State are all prepared to handle the growing demand for energy this Kharif season and the peak demand in July has registered over 14% increase this year compared to last year, Principal Secretary (Energy) Navin Mittal said. Speaking during a virtual meet with authorities of the Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd (TGSPDCL) led by its Chairman and Managing Director Md. Musharraf Farooqui on Monday, Mr. Mittal asked the authorities, engineers and field staff of the power utilities to remain alert to ensure uninterrupted power supply to all sectors. Mr. Mittal stated that the peak demand in July last year was recorded at 13,541 megawatt on July 31. This year it was 15,443 MW on July 16 with an increase of 14.05%. The farming community was using pump-sets widely with the availability of round-the-clock free power to irrigate the crops, leading to high energy demand even during the monsoon season. The SPDCL officials explained to the Principal Secretary that energy demand was also increasing heavily in the Greater Hyderabad limits with industrial, commercial and domestic consumption going up. They stated that there was a growth of nearly 31% peak demand in Greater Hyderabad on July 21 compared to the same day last. Similarly, the energy consumption too was up by over 35% on the same this year, compared to last year. Availability of groundwater due to good rains and paddy transplantation gaining pace over the next 2-3 weeks was expected to push up the energy demand further, Mr. Mittal said. The intra-day peak demand was over 15,000 MW on three days, over 14,000 MW on one day and over 13,000 MW on seven days as on July 27 this year.

Major shake-up in T babudom, Harichandana named Hyd collector, Lokesh new CCLA

1 2 3 4 Hyderabad: Telangana govt on Thursday transferred 36 IAS officers, including top bureaucrats and several district collectors, in a major reshuffle—the largest bureaucratic overhaul in the past one year since the Congress assumed power in Dec 2023. Posts in revenue, energy, Hyderabad collectorate, and Delhi coordination saw high-profile changes, hinting at an administrative reset designed to bolster CM Revanth Reddy's social justice, land reform, and national coordination agenda. Significantly, Navin Mittal, principal secretary of the revenue department for the last two years, has been shifted to the energy department. His replacement, DS Lokesh Kumar (from panchayat raj and rural development), has been given full additional charge as revenue secretary and chief commissioner of land administration (CCLA)—a sensitive post linked to the contentious land records and Bhu Bharati issues. In a high-visibility swap, Hyderabad district collector Anudeep Durishetty was moved to Khammam, while Dasari Harichandana, currently special secretary in roads and buildings, was named as the new Hyderabad collector—administratively crucial post. District collectors of Medchal Malkajgiri, Siddipet, Nizamabad, Sangareddy, and others were also changed. Senior bureaucrat Shashank Goel was appointed resident commissioner in Telangana Bhavan, Delhi. The incumbent, Gaurav Uppal, will now handle coordination with the govt of India on central projects and schemes. Other transfers include: N Sridhar (SC development) moved to panchayat raj; he retains charge of mines and geology, Jyothi Budha Prakash takes over SC development and planning, while Hanmanthu, former Nizamabad district collector, now heads stamps and registrations. Sangareddy distirct collector Valluru Kranthi was made MD of Telangana Tourism Development Corporation, replacing IPS officer Prakash Reddy. Information and public relations department saw a shuffle too. Commissioner S Harish, recently posted to TG Genco, was relieved of I&PR and revenue (disaster management) duties. Chekka Priyanka is the new I&PR commissioner. The other notable changes were: E Naveen Nicolas, secretary of Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC), now heads the school education department, as Priyanka Ala replaces him as secretary, TGPSC. GHMC additional commissioners Killu Sivakumar Naidu and Sneha Shabarish were shifted. Sivakumar, facing cadre issues, goes to irrigation; Sneha becomes Hanumakonda district collector, while P Praveenya (Hanumakonda) moves to Sangareddy as collector. Medchal district collector Gowtham Potru is now director (projects and personnel), SCCL; replaced by Mikkilineni Manu Choudary. T Vinay Krishna Reddy (Nizamabad) and K Hymavathi (Siddipet) round out the new collector postings. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . Govt staff JAC defers strike plan after cabinet accepts key demands

Hyderabad: The govt employees joint action committee (JAC) has indefinitely postponed their strike scheduled to be launched from June 9 following the state cabinet's decision to release two DAs and accept some of their main demands such as health cards and transfers. The JAC will meet again by the end of the month after the cabinet decisions are formally documented to decide their future course of action. JAC secretary general Eluri Sreenivasa Rao told TOI that the announcement of two DAs, govt agreeing to clear Rs 700 crore per month in pending bills of employees, constitution of a medical invalidation committee, health cards, a departmental promotion committee for transfers and recognition of employees' unions were some of the main demands of the JAC that have been agreed to by the govt. "As a result, the JAC has decided to indefinitely postpone its strike call. However, the govt did not announce anything about our other main demands such as 51% fitment (Pay Revision Commission) and reverting to the old pension system. There were a total of 57 demands, and the JAC is expecting to meet again with the IAS officers' committee led by Navin Mittal and cabinet sub-committee led by deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka to seek a commitment from the govt on the remaining demands," Sreenivasa Rao said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Esta nueva alarma con cámara es casi regalada en San Rafael (ver precio) Verisure Undo Sources in the govt said that although the cabinet discussed the 51% fitment (PRC) demand, it was of the view that more time was needed to announce a consensual fitment, if not 51%, as the govt has decided to clear pending bills of employees every month and has also announced two DAs, both of which are financially intensive demands. "A decision on increasing the retirement age of govt employees was kept pending, anticipating severe backlash from the students and unemployed youth. The govt is of the opinion that no step should be taken at this juncture which may antagonise the youth, who are happy with the incumbent govt giving nearly 60,000 jobs in its first year of office. A decision on the age of superannuation may be taken after panchayat and municipal polls, but only after giving job notifications for at least another 30,000 govt posts," said the source. Regarding the employees' demand for reverting to the old pension system, an election promise of the Congress, sources said the govt may make an announcement about it only in the last year of its present term or a few months before the next assembly elections.
