Thousands of fans welcomed Stephen Curry after he landed in China for his 'Curry Con', the first overseas edition of the Curry Training Camp. As a part of his grand welcome to China, he was greeted with a massive drone show, a tour of the Chongqing region, and multiple recreational activities after the event, like checking out futuristic gadgets and meeting his doppelganger.
Following an adventure-filled Day 1 of his tour, the Warriors' superstar went on social media to pen a heartfelt note about his first day in China and how excited he is about the tour.
"Chongqing, you showed out," wrote a fired-up Curry on X.
"Day 1 of the Curry Brand China Tour was packed with Curry Camp, Curry Con, and so many moments in between. The fans brought incredible energy from the jump, and getting to connect with city executives gave us a deeper look at what makes this place so special."
"If this is how the trip starts, we're in for something unforgettable."
Following the drone show, Curry spoke to the media about his first day as well. He pointed out a few similarities between the Chongqing region and San Francisco.
"The Yangtze River and the bay area, it's always great to have a little bit of a different vibe, no matter where you go in the city. So there are a lot of similarities for sure and great food too, so I hope to experience that part."
"I mean that (show) was crazy, probably my favorite. I think right now we have our Camp and Curry Con going on right now, across the city, which is awesome. But I just appreciate the fans, the love, and the energy that's here."
"You can hear all the people down just celebrating and enjoying being part of my journey with me, so I'm excited to be back here."
Curry was joined by his brother, Seth Curry, and NCAA superstar Azzi Fudd on this tour. Curry Brand has organized the first-ever Curry Con, a basketball culture event in Chongqing, China.
Stephen Curry's 2025 Curry Brand World Tour includes stops in the United States and Asia, including this three-day event from August 18th-20th, 2025.
At the same time, Asia is hosting the first-ever international Curry Camp. With its interactive exhibitions, new products, athletic sports sessions, and an in-depth look at the brand's past, Curry Con acts as a center for innovation and fan interaction.
Curry is clearly looking forward to getting mesmerized by his experience in China. This story was originally reported by Fadeaway World on Aug 19, 2025, where it first appeared.

Controversial US-born Chinese Olympic skier Eileen Gu suffers 'terrible accident' in training: report

Eileen Gu, the American-born skier who chose to represent China in the 2022 Olympics, was reportedly involved in a training accident in New Zealand last week. Bystanders at the Cardrona Alpine Resort in Cardrona told the South China Morning Post that Gu appeared to suffer serious injuries and needed to be taken to the hospital on a stretcher. Gu reportedly gave a health update on her Weibo account. "Unfortunately, a very terrible accident occurred yesterday due to human error," she wrote. "Hopefully I'll be back on the snow soon, but I'm still waiting for final confirmation from the expert team. "I have to concentrate fully during training, especially when I am preparing to start, as it's very dangerous to be interrupted. I also have to focus on picturing and imagining the moves while on the cable car. In order to save time, I don't have lunch breaks and try to use the bathroom as little as possible. So please don't record or take photos while I'm training." Gu won two gold medals and a silver at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing. She sparked controversy on the Olympic stage as she decided to compete for China over Team USA. Her father is American but her mother is a first-generation Chinese immigrant. During the Games, she dodged questions about her citizenship after winning gold. Chinese state media has claimed that Gu became a Chinese national at the age of 15, according to Reuters. The government does not allow dual citizenship, meaning the California native would have had to give up her U.S. citizenship in order to do so. Gu estimated she's spent at least a quarter of her life in China. Her origin story, as she tells it, begins with the time she pitched the idea for China's first slopestyle ski event at age 9 — and won. She said in 2024 that she planned to represent China again in the 2026 Olympics.

Insider Drops Jarring Contract Update for Al Horford, Warriors

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The general consensus is that Al Horford will be signing with the Golden State Warriors some point in the near future and that both sides are waiting to see what happens with Jonathan Kuminga first before any decisions are made. However, NBA insider Jake Fischer has dropped a rather striking update on Horford's potential contract with the Warriors, revealing that it may be a more lucrative — and lengthier — deal than initially anticipated. More news: New Boston Celtics Owner Issues Tough Challenge to Joe Mazzulla "Al Horford's situation is a bit different, because depending on where the Warriors land in the cap tax situation, I believe he is slated to potentially make upward of the full taxpayer mid-level exception," Fischer said. "There has also been some discussion about whether or not he could potentially be receiving a two-year deal with a player option on his deal, as well." Photo byMost were surely expecting Horford to sign a one-year contract this offseason, so the fact that the 39-year-old — who considered retirement a couple of years ago — could potentially land a multi-year pact is certainly an interesting development. "So for Al Horford to potentially be getting a player option in all of this, and something north of the veteran's minimum, would certainly be a come-up for the near-40-year-old center," Fischer added. Horford spent the last four seasons with the Boston Celtics in what was his second stint with the team. He played in 60 games and made 42 starts last year, averaging nine points and 6.2 rebounds over 27.7 minutes per game on 42.3/36.3/89.5 splits. More news: Warriors Linked to Polarizing Move for 3-Time All-Star The wily veteran is surely not the same player he was during his prime years, but he remains a very valuable supplementary contributor and would represent a major pickup for a Warriors team that is knocking on the door in the Western Conference. It looks fairly inevitable that Horford will sign with Golden State at some point, but when that actually becomes official remains to be seen. BTS's TinyTAN Toys Coming To McDonald's Happy Meals This September

Ever since the global superstar group BTS collaborated with McDonald's in 2021, BTS fans – known as ARMY – have been requesting BTS-themed Happy Meal toys. There were numerous options that fans suggested, including BTS' mini-figures called TinyTAN, or their LINE FRIENDS characters, BT21. McDonald's had already created Happy Meal toys featuring BT21 in 2023, but they were only available in select Asian countries. Now, McDonald's has listened to all of ARMY's suggestions and is teaming up with BTS' character line, TinyTAN, to create lovable characters based on the seven members for their Happy Meal to be distributed GLOBALLY, starting on September 3, for a limited time only. For the first time, there will be two different sets of toys for the TinyTAN Happy Meal: The 'Throwback Edition' featuring each character rocking the 2021 BTS Meal promo outfits and the 'Encore Edition' featuring each character sporting outfits that nod to the second legendary collab with McDonald's, available Sept. 23. Even the boxes are different! Once you receive your Happy Meal, visit and scan the code on the Happy Meal box to play the TinyTAN Power Up game, which features the TinyTAN characters cheering you on while you sing your heart out to your favorite BTS tunes. The fun doesn't stop there! For those in the Los Angeles area, McDonald's is hosting a 'Magic Meetup' where fans can step into the rhythm of TinyTAN with an immersive, multisensory experience, filled with music and 'Happy Meal magic' on September 27-28 at nya West. Details of the event will be shared at a later date. With the release of a new Encore Edition, we can expect new commercials and promotional photos, as the group reunited in June of this year after completing their military service. Since then, BTS has announced their plans for new music and a World Tour in 2026, so fans have a lot more to look forward to. Who will they collaborate with next? Of course, everything is while supplies last. You can bet these will sell out quickly.
