Devotional fervour marks Chamundeshwari Vardhanti celebrations

The Chamundeshwari Vardhanti celebration was held amidst devotional fervour with a large number of people taking part in the annual festival at Chamundi Hills on Thursday.
There were special rituals and ceremonies to mark the Vardhanti celebrations and the religious rites signalling the commencement of the celebrations, commened at 4 a.m.
The processional idol of the deity - Goddess Chamundeshwari – was given a ceremonial bath in the sacred waters followed by other rituals like Panchamrutha Abhisheka, etc. This was followed by Rudrabhisheka, Kumkumarchane or rituals with vermillion, and chanting of the Sahasranama or the 1,000 names of the goddess.
After the completion of the rituals, the processional idol was placed in the palanquin amidst religious paraphernalia and was brough out of the temple in a procession.
Members of the police band, accompanied by an ensemble of muscians playing 'mangala vadya', accompanied the procession while the presence of ceremonial umbrella and the chamara or the whisk, added to the religious spirit.
Mysuru MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, Chamundeshwari MLA G.T. Deve Gowda, Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, and others were present. The district administration had made elaborate arrangements in anticipation of large number of devotees while additional police forces were deployed for security.
In a bid to manage traffic and crowding, private vehicles were barred to enter Chamundi Hills and the public had to use the KSRTC buses specially deployed for the purpose. It was a free shuttle introduced by the authorities and transported the devotees from the Lalitha Mahal helipad grounds, to Chamundi Hills and back.
Pandals were erected in different parts of the city as special poojas were also organised and prasadam was distributed to the public as part of the Vardhanti celebrations.

KSRTC Managing Director Akram Pasha on Wednesday advised candidates aspiring to crack competitive examinations that their efforts have to be very strong and dedicated since they are in an era of competition and winning this marathon has to be focussed. Speaking after inaugurating a coaching camp for K-SET and UGC-NET exams organised by the KSOU Competitive Examination Centre here, he said success is not easy in the age of tough competition. 'You need to have a fear that will wake you and show you the way to success with hard work.' He said the UPSC, UGC-NET and KPSC exams are not easy to achieve. 'I have the experience. Therefore, do not waste your time and focus on preparing for the exam if you wish to achieve your goals,' the official told the candidates. Mr. Pasha added facilities for cracking the competitive exams are aplenty unlike the past. 'You have the technology on your side. You can make use of the various tech platforms available to achieve your dreams,' he advised. Vice-chancellor Sharanappa V. Halse said the 45-day training programme may help the candidates to realise their dreams. 'Your dedication and hard work will bring success. Keep an aim and work accordingly. Always value time.' S.K. Naveen Kumar, Registrar, C.S. Anand Kumar, Registrar Evaluation, Ramanathan and N.R. Chandre Gowda, Deans, S. Madikeri: The KSRTC bus services to Christ Colony in Kedamullur, which were stopped during Covid time five years ago, have now resumed. This brought joy, leading to celebrations in the village. As the bus arrived at Christ Colony, the residents offered puja to the bus and distributed sweets among the villagers. The bus departs from Madikeri at 7am. This bus service was stopped during Covid. After that, despite repeated requests to the officials concerned, it was of no use, which caused problems for those going to schools, colleges, and work in the urban areas. The panchayat members of Kedamullur and the villagers had raised the bus problem with MLA Ponnanna. Responding immediately, MLA Ponnanna discussed with Madikeri KSRTC manager Lingayya, depot manager Shanthakumar, and officer M Mahbub Ali and informed them about the resumption of bus services. Accordingly, the bus services were resumed, which was flagged off by the MLA. Village leader and gram panchayat member Maletira Prashanth Uthappa said that the residents here had a lot of problems without bus services. Although they took up the problem many times, it was of no use. Now, with the special efforts of the MLA, bus services have started, benefiting the villagers.
