Police said the incident occurred at around 11 pm near Chandoora village, and the situation was quickly brought under control. Two suspects have been taken into custody, it said.
The kanwariyas, after offering water at the Prasanna Nath Mahadev Temple, were walking from Bhagauli Tirth towards the Lodheswar Mahadev temple in Ramnagar, which is a traditional pilgrimage route followed during the Hindu month of Shravan (Sawan), dedicated to Lord Shiva.
There was an altercation between the kanwariyas and a group of men near a shop. As the pilgrims moved ahead, about six men intercepted them near a petrol station between the villages of Raipur and Chandoora and attacked them.
The Mohammadpur Khala police station is located close to the scene, and personnel responded promptly.
'There was a confrontation that escalated into a minor clash," said Circle Officer (Fatehpur) Jagat Ram Kanaujia.
'Two people have been taken into custody, and the Kanwar Yatra is continuing peacefully. No injuries have been reported," he added.
One of the detained suspects, identified as Durgesh, was apparently intoxicated and is being questioned, he added.

Fake country, fake embassy: How Ghaziabad man posed as 'West Arctica' envoy
Heard of 'West Arctica', Saborga, Poulvia and Lodonia? Probably not, because they don't exist. But that didn't stop Harsh Vardhan Jain, a resident of Kavi Nagar in Ghaziabad, from allegedly setting up a so-called consulate and calling himself an ambassador of these fictitious nations, according to news agency PTI. The Uttar Pradesh Police's Special Task Force (STF) has now arrested him for operating a fake embassy out of a rented house in Ghaziabad. Fake embassies and forged passports According to STF officials from the Noida unit, Jain was using forged documents, morphed photos with top politicians, and diplomatic paraphernalia to pass off the operation as legitimate. He moved around in vehicles carrying fake diplomatic number plates and promised job placements abroad to individuals and companies. Amitabh Yash, Additional Director General of Police, told PTI, the accused had styled himself as a consul and was conducting activities from a residential address. 'Twelve fake diplomatic passports, forged Ministry of External Affairs documents, rubber stamps of different countries and companies, and fake press cards were found,' said Yash. The police also recovered ₹44.7 lakh in cash, foreign currency, and 18 fake diplomatic number plates. Four vehicles, two PAN cards, and several shell company documents were seized during the raid. Jain has also been linked in the past to controversial godman Chandraswami and international arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi. In 2011, he was booked in a case involving an illegal satellite phone. An FIR has been filed at Kavi Nagar police station and investigations are ongoing. What to watch for when dealing with 'embassies' or visa agents As more Indians seek study and work opportunities abroad, legal experts warn against trusting self-proclaimed visa agents or dubious 'embassies'. 'For students and professionals planning to go abroad, verifying the legitimacy of visa consultants, embassies, and government links is non-negotiable,' Jyoti Sharma, a Delhi-based lawyer told Business Standard. 'This is a serious and alarming incident. Such operations are not only illegal but dangerous for students and professionals looking to migrate or study abroad,' said Harsh Kumar, Advocate at Jotwani Associates, speaking to Business Standard. He advised that legitimate foreign missions are always registered with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and their credentials can be verified on the MEA's official website. Any consulate operating from an informal setting, demanding large sums, or offering unrealistic guarantees, should raise immediate suspicion. If someone suspects a fake embassy or migration racket, Kumar recommends the following legal steps: 1. File a police complaint (FIR): Under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, relevant sections include: Section 316 – Cheating Section 317(2) – Cheating by impersonation Section 334 – Forgery of documents Section 336 – Using forged documents as genuine Section 64 – Criminal conspiracy These are serious, often non-bailable offences. 2. Report to the MEA: Use the MEA's grievance portal or contact the local Passport Office or FRRO. They can confirm whether a mission is officially recognised and act accordingly. 3. Contact the Cyber Crime Cell: If the scam involved websites, emails or digital fraud, file a complaint through the national cybercrime portal: [ 4. Use the Consumer Protection Act: If a private consultancy was involved, victims can approach the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Kumar added that victims should preserve all receipts, emails and communication as evidence and consult a lawyer with expertise in immigration or cyber law before proceeding. 'The new criminal code gives individuals the power to act quickly and effectively. It's crucial to rely only on accredited consultants and verified government sources when pursuing international education or job opportunities,' he said.. With agency inputs

Delhi: Inspired by crime shows, BSF constable robs jewellery store using toy gun
Last Updated: New Delhi, Jul 23 (PTI) A BSF constable, who joined the force a month ago, was arrested for robbing a Delhi jewellery store with a toy gun in broad daylight, after allegedly getting inspired by crime shows following losses in online gambling, an official said on Wednesday. The accused, identified as Gaurav Yadav (22), had completed his training in May 2025 after he enrolled in the Border Security Force (BSF) in 2023, the official added. 'Yadav was posted in the BSF in Fazilka, Punjab. On June 18, a day before the robbery, he took leave and travelled to Delhi, where he planned the heist while waiting to switch trains," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam said in a statement. The incident occurred on June 19 at a jewellery store in Farsh Bazar, when a man entered the store brandishing what appeared to be a pistol and stole four gold bracelets before fleeing on foot. A case under Section 309(4) (robbery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at the Farsh Bazar Police Station, and an investigation was launched, the DCP added. Police carried out technical surveillance, analysed multiple CCTV footage, call detail records (CDRs), and Internet Protocol Detail Record (IPDR) dump data, and raised several queries on the National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID). 'After sustained efforts and detailed analysis, the accused was identified as a BSF constable posted in Fazilka, Punjab. A raid was conducted at his native village in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, where he was apprehended. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime," DCP Gautam said. According to the police, Yadav allegedly developed a gambling addiction, incurred significant losses, and plotted the robbery after watching crime shows. 'He bought a toy pistol from a local shop and used it to commit the robbery. He later travelled to Meerut, then Lucknow, and finally reached his home in Shivpuri, where he sold two of the stolen bracelets and deposited Rs 2 lakh into a bank account," the DCP added. The police recovered two gold bracelets from his home and identified the account where the Rs 2 lakh had been deposited. Gaurav had no prior criminal record, the police noted, adding that further investigation is underway. Tanushree Dutta Alleges Threat To Her Life Like Sushant Singh Rajput: 'Maids Planted To Spy'
Last Updated: Tanushree Dutta claims her life is in danger like Sushant Singh Rajput's, alleges Bollywood mafia harassment. Tanushree Dutta has once again sparked concern online after an emotional video of her surfaced on social media. In the clip, the actress is seen breaking down in tears as she alleges that she is being 'harassed". The video, which quickly went viral, left many fans shocked and concerned for her well-being. And now, speaking to News18 exclusively, she made a series of serious allegations, claiming she is being harassed and is in danger. Drawing parallels with the late Sushant Singh Rajput, who was found dead in his Mumbai home in 2020, the actress alleged that there is a powerful force within Bollywood working against her. 'Like Sushant Singh Rajput, there is an attempt to kill me too," she said, referring to the actor's untimely death in 2020, which led to intense public outcry and theories linking it to the so-called 'Bollywood mafia'. In a new video message, Tanushree directly appealed to the authorities: 'I request the government to provide me with security." She said she believes there is a powerful nexus within the industry working against her. 'The Bollywood mafia gang is huge, and like Sushant, my life is also in danger." Tanushree, who was one of the first prominent names to speak up during India's MeToo movement in 2018, connected her current ordeal to that moment. 'Since I raised my voice against Nana Patekar for the incident that happened with me during the MeToo movement, suspicious activities have started around me." According to her, the harassment hasn't stopped. 'I am being followed constantly. I am being harassed." She also alleged that her home was not safe either. 'There was spying done in my house, and a house help was planted for that purpose. I will file a complaint at the police station tomorrow regarding these incidents." Tanushree also made it clear that this should be treated as a fresh case, not linked to her previous complaints. 'I hope and request the police to not judge this case by my previous ones, and look at it with a new perspective so I can get justice. I do not want to reopen my previous case." Late Tuesday night, Tanushree shared the video on her official Instagram account, claiming that the harassment was coming from her own family. In the visibly emotional footage, she appeared distressed and spoke about possibly taking legal steps against her relatives.
