India: 8 people killed, 26 injured after explosion at chemical factory in Telangana's Sangareddy
V Satyanaryana, Inspector General, Multi Zone II, said, "There was a blast at Sigachi Pharma, a chemical production factory in Pasamailaram. The incident occurred around 8:15-9:35 am, and the police were informed within 10 minutes. We reached the spot within 20 minutes. NDRF, SDF, and other rescue teams, along with 10 fire engines, arrived at the scene. So far, six dead bodies have been found, and two people died while undergoing treatment at Chanda Nagar. A total of 8 deaths, 26 injuries, and 2 or 3 in serious condition. Government officials are providing all necessary medical facilities to them. There were 150 members in the shift, with 90 working in the blast area. Eight people have died, and 26 are injured. Firefighting efforts are still ongoing, and the rescue operation is in progress. We will provide further details later."
Earlier, BJP MLA Payal Shankar demanded an investigation into the incident.
Payal Shankar said, "The state government should provide good treatment to the injured. How did it happen? Who is accountable for it? Were the safety protocols followed? If such a blast occurs in a crowded place, then there are chances of more losses. There should be an investigation of the incident."
Minister Damodar Raja Narsimha also visited the spot.
Over a dozen workers sustained injuries in an explosion at a chemical factory in the Pasamailaram Phase 1 area, said officials.
Soon after receiving the information about the incident, 11 fire tenders rushed to the spot and are engaged in firefighting operations.
"The incident took place at Sigachi Pharma Company, Pasamailaram Phase 1. Eleven fire tenders have reached the site. Nearly 15-20 people have been injured. Further details awaited," said Telangana Fire Officials.
Meanwhile, the administration is carrying out a rescue operation, and till now, they have not recovered any bodies from the site.
Speaking to ANI, the Superintendent of Police of Sangareddy, Paritosh Pankaj, said, "Till now we haven't recovered any bodies, rescue operation is going on, we will update in some time."

He said, "How many people are unskilled and skilled labour? Have you segregated the number of skilled and unskilled workers who died after the blast?" Revanth Reddy emphasised that such incidents should serve as a learning point for both the government and industry stakeholders. "We need to focus on what instructions we must give to avoid similar problems in other industries like this. There are two things we need from this: first, a detailed report, and second, accountability," he further said. He directed the officials not to rely on earlier inspections or reports and insisted on fresh evaluations by new experts. The Chief Minister also referred to possible compliance lapses by the industry and called for a review of past notices and penalties. So far, 34 people have lost their lives in the explosion and rescue operations continued at the site of the blast. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in the explosion. An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakhs for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured has been announced from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.

India: 3 dead due to suffocation, at least 6 injured during Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri
Puri: Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan on Sunday said that three people died and at least six people sustained injuries near the Gundicha Temple during the ongoing Lord Jagannath Rath Yathra in Puri. Speaking to ANI over the phone, Odisha Minister Harichandan said, "It is an unfortunate incident. We are taking note of that. I spoke with the CM this morning. We are taking stringent action. DGP has been sent to the spot. "Three people have passed away because of suffocation in the huge gathering. Six to seven people are injured. I am moving to Puri. I am monitoring the situation over the phone. We are trying our best to manage the crowd. Additional police have been deployed. The reasons for the incident are being investigated," Harichandan said. "The situation is now under control and the people are having darshan...", he said adding that the State DGP has been sent to the site. The mishap took place early this morning. The chariots had arrived at Saradha Bali from the Jagannath Temple on Saturday, a day after the Rath Yatra commenced. "The situation is being monitored," the minister said adding that he is rushing to Puri himself and that stringent action will be taken against those responsible. "Around 6-7 people were injuired and they are alright now," Harichandan further said. Meanwhile, BJD chief and former Chief Minister Naveen Naveen Patnaik has extended condolences to the families of the three devotees who have lost their lives in the tragic stampede at Saradhabali "I pray to Mahaprabhu Jagannatha for the swift recovery of the devotees injured in this devastating incident, he posted on X. The former Chief Minsiter said, "Eyewitnesses report that the initial response to this horrific tragedy came from the devotees' relatives, with no government machinery present to manage the surging crowds, highlighting a shocking lapse in duty. The inordinate delay in pulling the Nandighosha chariot on Rath Yatra day was conveniently attributed to "Mahaprabhu's wish", a shocking excuse that masks the administration's complete abdication of responsibility. While I refrain from accusing the government of criminal negligence, their blatant callousness has undeniably contributed to this tragedy. I urge the government to implement urgent corrective measures to ensure the smooth conduct of Adapa Bije, Bahuda, Suna Besha, and other key RathYatra rituals."
