I'm sleeping on Amazon's best-selling EGOHOME Memory Foam Mattress — here's what I think so far

Every time I scroll through Amazon looking for mattress deals, l always find plenty of low-cost memory foam beds from brands that I've never heard of at prices that seem too good to be true.
One budget-friendly mattress brand that has been on my radar recently is EGOHOME. Its memory foam mattresses are Amazon bestsellers, and you can now buy a queen-size EGOHOME Black 12" Mattress for $314.49 at Amazon.
Intrigued, I visited the brand's website, where you can now save up to 47% on the Black 12" Mattress with code HONOR10 at EGOHOME, thanks to an extended Memorial Day mattress sale.
After reading the description of the Back 12" Mattress's "plush, cradling comfort", I decided to try it out. So, does its comfort deserve a place in our best cheap mattress guide?

Look through this year's best mattress guide and you'll find plenty of top-quality memory foam mattresses, but not many are as affordable as EGOHOME's mattress line-up. The Black 12" Mattress is the brand's most popular model and typically costs under $500 for a queen.
While EGOHOME also makes some popular hybrid mattresses, I wanted to try the all-foam version of the Black 12" Mattress as A) it's designed to be softer than its hybrid counterpart, and I prefer plush beds; and B) I've never slept on a memory foam bed, just latex, hybrid, and classic innerspring mattresses.

The 12" Black Memory Foam Mattress is, you guessed it, 12" tall and made up of three foam layers. Covering the layers is a graphene-infused, antibacterial cover to prevent odors and keep the surface cool.
The top layer is memory foam infused with compressed anti-microbial copper and gel particles for a more hygienic sleep surface.
In the middle, you'll find a heat-dissipating foam layer for temperature regulation, while the bottom layer uses high-density foam for more support.
The EGOHOME mattress is fiberglass-free, too, using a safer flame retardant inner cover. Is it a contender for our best mattresses on Amazon guide? Here's what I think so far...
After a week of sleeping on a full EGOHOME Black 12" Mattress, I was impressed with some of its features, but I also have the odd complaint.
Here are five of the initial thoughts I have had about the budget all-foam bed:
As a lightweight side sleeper, I find a lot of mattresses to be much firmer than they claim to be. That's why I was looking forward to testing an all-foam bed, especially one that promises ultra-plushness.
I'm pleased to say that the EGOHOME Black 12" delivers on that promise.
My key side-sleeping pressure points (such as my shoulders and hips) have been cradled and hugged by the memory foam from night one, making the mattress a strong contender for a place in our best mattress for side sleepers guide.
As a mattress tester, I've unboxed a dozen hybrid mattresses — and they can be a mighty pain to unbox due to their bulkiness and weight.
However, a full-size EGOHOME Black 12" Mattress was surprisingly light, weighing in at 53lbs. (The previous mattress I tested weighed 103lbs.)
While I did need to recruit two people to carry the box upstairs (boxed-up mattresses are heavy, period, no matter their design), I unboxed the mattress by myself and it was incredibly easy.
EGOHOME advises customers to wait 12-48 hours for the mattress to expand on your bed frame, so I braced myself for two nights of sleeping on the floor.
However, the mattress was pretty quick to expand, reaching a height of 11" just 20 minutes after unboxing. After one night of sleeping on the floor, I found that the bed had reached its full 12" height, so I was sleeping on the mattress by night two.
While I've tried plenty of the best mattress toppers (all memory foam), nothing quite braced me for the feel of an all-foam mattress.
I will admit it did take me to get used to the "hug" of the memory foam — but not while sleeping. I only felt the slow-moving feel of the foam when I had to move around, such as when moving across the mattress to get out on the other side of bed.
A fellow mattress tester once called a memory foam mattress (from a well-known brand that shall remain nameless) that she was testing "claustrophobic" and couldn't wait to get rid.
While I'm used to it after a week, I know a lot of sleepers prefer a bouncy bed and find memory foam too restrictive.
Despite the mattress having a cover made from the brand's "Anti-heat Graphene" fabric, I do not find the bed to be cooling. In fact, on the first humid night of testing I woke up feeling warm. (For the record, I do not usually sleep hot).
While during milder weather I sleep fine, I will definitely be using my Brooklyn Bedding Luxury Cooling Mattress Protector once testing is over.
✅ It's cost-effective: A queen size EGOHOME is regularly priced under $500, with a twin under $300.
✅ It's easy to set up: Its manageable 53lbs weight means unboxing is pretty easy for one person.
✅ Its perfect for side sleepers: I need a lot of softness when side sleeping, and this is the first mattress I've tested that has provided me with the right amount of pressure relief.
❌ It sleeps a little warm: Despite an "anti-heat" cover, I did find the cover to retain a lot of warmth on humid nights. Once the testing period is over I'll add a cooling mattress protector or topper to offset this.
❌ It's not for those who prefer firmer beds: As a side sleeper under 130lbs, I love the cradling softness of this all-foam bed. But stomach sleepers and those who like a firmer, supportive mattress should avoid.
