Tyson Fury and Wayne Rooney went head-to-head in a thrilling grip test ahead of this weekend's Soccer Aid - and the results will shock you.
This year's Soccer Aid will return to Old Trafford, home of Premier league giants Manchester United, this Sunday. Celebrities and footballing will battle it out on the pitch as England take on the Soccer Aid World XI FC in the world 's biggest charity football match.
England took the crown last year after defeating the World XI 6-3 at Stamford Bridge. Once again, many big names are set to feature, including Jill Scott, Tom Grennan, Sir Mo Farah, Fury, Joe Hart, Steph Houghton and former Italy defender Leonardo Bonucci.
With just days to go until the highly-anticipated charity match, several stars went hand-to-hand in a battle to determine who has the strongest grip. A grip test measure the maximum force you can exert when squeezing a hand dynamometer. This test is often used to assess overall upper body strength and can be a unique way of assessing health and predicting future health outcomes.
First up was the 'Gypsy King' - who may be displeased with the result. He jokingly claimed he scored 700, before showing his actual score of 69.3kg to the camera. Up next was Manchester United legend Rooney - who was not far off of Fury's tally as the ex-England international scored 61.2kg.
Bonucci picked up a underwhelming score by his high standards. After picking up 29kg on his first effort, the Italian pressed on and eventually scored a grand total of 37.7kg. Finally, UNICEF UK Ambassador and famous TV presenter Dermot O'Leary tried his luck and scored a fairly respectable 32.5kg. "Is that good?" O'Leary said before the cameraman replied: "Oh, we won't tell you what Tyson (Fury) got!" A stunned O'Leary passionately responded: "Won't tell me what Tyson Fury got! I am not exactly expecting... oh no I did not beat Tyson Fury did I? Oh, what a shame!"
Fury will be co-managing the team alongside Rooney this weekend. Prior to the announcement, the 'Gypsy King' uploaded a video to his Instagram page walking through the Old Trafford tunnel with an England flag and captioning the post: "Did you miss me?" The footage went viral on social media - with many believing he was set to announce his return to boxing.
An avid Red Devils fans, Fury was clearly excited following the announcement. 'ENGLAND MANAGER! Who would ever have thought it!? I have had some big fights in my career and the prospect of leading my England team to victory this June fills me with just as much excitement as any heavyweight fight," he said.
"Everyone knows that I am a huge Manchester United fan too, so it's even more special for me that the game is at Old Trafford this year – and I get to manage one of my heroes, Wayne Rooney! How can we lose!? The work UNICEF does all around the world is so special and so important. I really hope that you can come along and support us this summer.'

He joined the Edinburgh to Paris cycle in 2023 which raised almost £1 million. He said: 'We've lost a few to injury, and it just shows how demanding this is going to be. I've had my own aches and pains. No major injuries thankfully but I've definitely been reminded why I probably shouldn't be moving this much at my age. 'I'm most nervous about the hills. I convinced myself Ireland was flat – it's definitely not. But nerves are good. I've always had them before a big challenge. 'The support's been incredible. We've still got time to push, and every penny counts. 'Since Doddie died, awareness has grown massively – but we still need to fund research. The foundation has committed nearly £20 million already, which is phenomenal, but it's only the beginning. 'Doddie would be proud – but he'd be telling us to go further and faster. That's why we're doing this.' He joked that McCoist needed some help with bike maintenance. Logan said: 'Ally's been out and about, but his bike broke down the other day. I told him not to trust himself to check the batteries on his fancy gears – someone else needs to do that for him.' Weir set up the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation in 2017, the year after he was diagnosed with MND. Manchester United have posted interest in Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike after being made aware Viktor Gyokeres would prefer to join Arsenal. Ekitike is valued at £80million and Chelsea and Liverpool are also among the 22-year-old's admirers, although his price tag is prohibitive. He scored 22 goals in 45 games for Frankfurt last season and was previously on the books at Paris Saint-Germain, who sold him for close to £14m in 2024. The France U-21 international finished the campaign as Frankfurt's top scorer in the Bundesliga, tied with Omar Marmoush, who left for Manchester City in January. United head coach Ruben Amorim had targeted a reunion with Gyokeres after his side finished a lowly 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final. But the Red Devils' hopes of signing the in-demand Swede look to have faded and as a result, they could turn their attention to Ekitike, despite his hefty valuation. In a potential boost for United, Ekitike was asked which club was his 'favourite' as a child and he quickly responded: 'Manchester United'. Arsenal are understood to be maintaining dialogue with Sporting over Gyokeres although RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko remains their No 1 target. But only a few dare take on the task of managing the national team, given its storied history and reputation in the game with four World Cups and two European Championships. That challenge now falls on former Gers star Gennaro Gattuso, who has been appointed as the new manager of Italy. Gattuso, 47, takes over from Luciano Spalletti who just a few days ago announced his OWN sacking. Spalletti's time was up after a 3-0 defeat to Norway but he still took charge of the national side's next game against Moldova. Those results leave the Azzurri sitting third of the five teams in their World Cup qualifying group. Gattuso, who recently left Hajduk Split after narrowly missing out on the Croatian title, is understood to have accepted the role as first reported by Fabrizio Romano. Gattuso started his managerial career at Swiss club Sion but was sacked after 12 games.
