Amidst fervent anticipation for Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, rumours of Bobby Deol portraying Kumbhakarna have been quashed by sources close to the production. While Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash are confirmed as Lord Ram, Sita, and Raavana respectively, the film, slated for a Diwali 2026 release, will not feature Deol. As Nitesh Tiwari 's Ramayana continues to dominate headlines with its star-studded cast and grand vision, fresh speculation about Bobby Deol joining the mythological epic as Kumbhakarna has fans buzzing. But is there any truth to it? Here's what we know so far about the casting rumours, the confirmed lineup, and Bobby Deol's packed film slate. The teaser confirmed Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, with Sai Pallavi portraying Sita and Yash stepping into the role of the formidable Raavana. The ensemble cast also features Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, completing a powerful lineup of characters central to the epic saga. Amid the growing buzz around Ramayana, rumours began circulating that Bobby Deol had been cast as Kumbhakarna, Raavana's towering, sleep-loving brother. However, a source close to the production clarified to Bollywood Hungama that the Animal star is not involved in the project, dismissing the speculation as baseless. Highlighting the importance of separating fact from fiction, a source close to the project told Bollywood Hungama that while Ramayana is undoubtedly one of the most awaited films of 2026, the buzz around Bobby Deol's casting as Kumbhakarna is unfounded. With casting rumours running wild, the insider urged fans to wait for official confirmations and let go of the Bobby Deol speculation once and for all. Mounted on an epic scale, Ramayana will be released in two parts, with the first installment slated for Diwali 2026 and the second following a year later on Diwali 2027. Promising a rich blend of mythology, grandeur, and a stellar cast, the film aims to deliver a landmark cinematic experience.
