'After the Hunt,' a thriller directed by Luca Guadagnino and starring Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield and Ayo Edebiri, will land in theaters this fall.
Amazon MGM is granting the movie a prime awards season release date, with a limited rollout on October 10 before expanding on October 17.
'After the Hunt' will open nationwide on the same date as Blumhouse's thriller 'The Black Phone 2' with Ethan Hawke and Lionsgate's R-rated comedy 'Good Fortune,' starring Keanu Reeves, Aziz Ansari and Seth Rogen.
Described as a 'gripping psychological drama,' the film follows Roberts as a college professor who 'finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads when a star pupil (Edebiri) levels an accusation against one of her colleagues (Garfield),' according to the official logline. As she navigates the difficult situation, 'a dark secret from her own past threatens to come to light.'
Michael Stuhlbarg and Chloë Sevigny round out the cast.
'After the Hunt' reunites Guadagnino, the Oscar-nominated 'Call Me by Your Name' filmmaker, with the studio behind his sexy tennis drama 'Challengers,' cannibal love story 'Bones and All' and 'Suspiria' remake.
First-time screenwriter Nora Garrett wrote the script for 'After the Hunt' and will executive produce with Karen Lunder for Imagine Entertainment, as well as Justin Wilkes and Alice Dawson.
Imagine Entertainment executives Brian Grazer and Allan Mandelbaum are producing the movie with Jeb Brody and Guadagnino on behalf of his company Frenesy.
Besides 'After the Hunt,' Amazon MGM's 2025 theatrical slate includes Ben Affleck's 'The Accountant 2' and Jason Statham and David Ayer's 'A Working Man.'

Blumhouse in Talks to Buy "Saw" Franchise from Twisted Pictures
Yara Sameh Blumhouse is in talks to acquire part of the long-running horror franchise 'Saw'. Blumhouse is in the midst of a deal to take over the ownership stake of Saw from Twisted Pictures, the banner run by Oren Koules and Mark Burg. Twisted co-owns the rights with Lionsgate, which has distributed the films since releasing the first film in 2004. If a deal is made, it would bring the franchise back into the hands of James Wan, the filmmaker who directed that movie and created the franchise with co-writer Leigh Whannell. Blumhouse, run by Jason Blum, merged with Wan's production banner, Atomic Monster, in early January 2024. The talks between Blumhouse and Twisted began last year but broke down earlier this year. A sale price was one of the big sticking points. Made for only $1.2 million, Saw became one of the most profitable horror movies of all time when it opened to $18.2 million domestically and earned $104 million worldwide. Home entertainment was equally massive (this was the DVD era, after all) and a franchise, that encompassed 10 movies as well as merchandising, video games, and more, followed. The last entry in the franchise, 'Saw X' was released in 2023 and earned $112.2 million worldwide. An 11th movie was in the works but stalled out. While it is unclear what the plans for any new stories would entail — more movies? a series? — but the deal is the latest in a growing number that have creatives or filmmakers own, partially or entirely, their creations. Koules and Burg reportedly financed most of Saw's budget after first seeing Wan and Whannel's short film. Wan, off the success of Saw, went on to create or co-create the Insidious horror franchise and The Conjuring horror universe. "Ma" Sequel in Works with Octavia Spencer Returning
Yara Sameh A sequel to the 2019 revenge thriller "Ma" is in development at Blumhouse. Octavia Spencer is set to reprise her role as the eponymous killer, but plot details are still being kept under wraps. The project remains in early stages, with no director attached or release date set. The original film followed a group of high schoolers who find an unlikely, intergenerational friend in Sue Ann Ellington, a lonesome veterinarian and devoted party animal played by Spencer. The woman, affectionately called 'Ma,' allows the teens to party in her basement, but things get bloody once their relationship starts to sour. The first 'Ma' re-teamed Spencer with director Tate Taylor, who helmed the aactress'Oscar-winning performance in 'The Help.' Released by Universal in May 2019, the low-budget Blumhouse production was a box office winner, earning $61 million worldwide. But the film has grown an even stronger following in the years since, spawning various memes including parody posters and reaction images. Spencer even joined in on the fun in 2020, holding an online contest for the 'best Ma meme' and awarding numerous prizes. In 2024, she referenced the film in a short video posted by the Kamala Harris presidential campaign. In May, 'Ma' featured as one of the re-release selections for Blumhouse's Halfway to Halloween campaign. The pic, along with 'M3GAN' and 'Annabelle,' received a one-night-only engagement in theaters nationwide. The 'Ma' sequel was unveiled by Blumhouse at Atomic Monster and its first-ever Business of Horror event in Hollywood. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream

Cillian Murphy's Role in "28 Years Later" Franchise Has Been Clarified
Yara Sameh Cillian Murphy is coming back to the '28 Days Later' franchise — but fans will have to wait patiently. Director Danny Boyle revealed in interviews with Business Insider and IGN that Murphy, who starred in the original '28 Days Later' in 2002, will not star in the upcoming '28 Years Later," but will appear in the ending of its 2026 sequel, 'The Bone Temple.' 'He is in the second one,' Boyle told IGN . 'I shouldn't give away too much. I'll get killed.' Boyle and writer Alex Garland conceived '28 Years Later' as the start of a new trilogy. The franchise revival, which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes, was filmed back-to-back with its follow-up, '28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,' which is directed by Nia DaCosta. A trilogy-capper remains in development and could be greenlit if '28 Years Later' becomes a box office hit. Boyle hopes that incorporating Murphy, who is coming off of a best actor Oscar win for 'Oppenheimer,' could also help secure financing for the third film. 'All I can say is you have to wait for Cillian, but hopefully he will help us get the third film financed,' Boyle told Business Insider. To IGN, 'Although each story [in the trilogy] completes itself, there's a handover section to the next film as well. So it's very ambitious. We haven't got the money for the third one yet. It will depend how the first one does, I guess. But hopefully, if we do okay, they'll give us the go-ahead for the money and for the third one. Everybody's standing by for that, really. Including Cillian.' Boyle also shared with Business Insider that getting Murphy on board for the trilogy helped him get approval to film '28 Years Later' with iPhones: 'You promise them Cillian Murphy, that's quite a deflection of any technical concerns. They soon forget. We nakedly used that to get our own way. What better promise could you make?'. Boyle's original '28 Days Later' was one of the first blockbuster roles for Murphy. He led the thriller as Jim, a man who awakens in a hospital to discover the United Kingdom has collapsed amid an undead apocalypse. Fans have speculated that Murphy could return to the franchise, with some even believing that a zombie in the first trailer for '28 Years Later' was played by the actor. It's actually an art dealer and acting newcomer, Angus Neill. '28 Years Later' releases to theaters June 20 from Sony Pictures. The sequel, '28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,' is slated for January 16, 2026. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan
