
Ahmedabad municipal corp van driver booked after one dead in collision; police say did not have driver's license
The incident took place on Thursday morning in the crowded Jamalpur area of the city. Rahul Haresh Parmar, who allegedly did not have a driver's license, allegedly drove the AMC's door-to-door waste collection van 'negligently' at high speed', hitting several vehicles.
Yasin Yusuf Barafwala was grievously injured and died on the spot, while others were injured.
The 'E' Division Traffic police booked Parmar on the basis of complaint filed by the deceased's son Faizan and booked Parmar under BNS sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 125(a) (endangering human life or personal safety), 125(b) (rash or negligent act), 281 (rash driving), 324(2) (mischief), as well as sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.

8-year-old girl raped and murdered at Assam tea garden, 1 arrested
An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed at a tea garden in Assam's Dibrugarh district, police said on Sunday. Locals caught the accused when he tried to flee from the scene and handed him over to the police.(HT Photo) The incident happened at a small tea garden in Kachari Pathar in Namrup police station area on Saturday when the girl was out to collect firewood, they said. "The accused was fishing nearby when he saw the girl alone. He allegedly raped and killed her, most likely by smothering," an officer said. The accused then concealed the body in a drain, covering it with hay and grass, he said. "When the girl did not return home, her parents along with neighbours began searching for her. They also informed the police. The body was found around 8.40 pm," he added. Locals caught the accused when he tried to flee from the scene and handed him over to the police. The accused had killed his mother and served 14 years in jail for it before being released three years ago, police said. "He is in our custody. A case has been registered under the POCSO Act and other relevant sections of BNS," Namrup's DSP Prasenjit Das said.

Minor kept four sharp weapons at home with mother's consent, both held by police
A minor along with his 20-year-old accomplice have been nabbed by the Pune city police for the alleged illegal possession of four sharp weapons at his residence in Gondhale Nagar, with the consent of his mother. As per officials the minor has been detained and his mother(35) along with the accomplice who has been identified as Vishwajeet alias Yash Ramchandra More have been arrested. The arrests followed a combing operation carried out in Hadapsar area between 11 pm of August 8 and 2 am of August 9 where police teams checked multiple history sheeters and suspicious persons during the operations. Cops nabbed the minor and his aide More as they were found moving suspiciously. A first information report (FIR) was lodged against the three accused persons at the Hadapsar police station under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) section 3(5) and sections of the Indian Arms Act on Saturday. During the investigation four sharp weapons were recovered from the minor's house. Senior police inspector Sanjay Mogale said, 'The minor had kept the weapons at his residence with the consent of his mother. So the mother has been made an accused in this case.' However, police confirmed that there was no previous criminal record of the minor and his accomplice. A probe is on to know why the accused persons were in possession of the weapons.

After Embassy scam, a fake ‘International Police' station busted in Noida; Here's how six men used fake seals, IDs to collect donations

TIL Creatives Six men from West Bengal were arrested in Noida on Sunday for allegedly running a fake office and posing as members of the international police and other organisations, officials said. According to police, the accused also pretended to be government officials and used an office logo to influence locals. They had recently rented premises in Sector 70, Central Noida, to operate their racket. The fraud came to light following a police investigation, leading to the arrest of all six suspects, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) Shakti Mohan Awasthy said."They used to extort money from people by showing fake documents and logos. They also pretended as government officials to impress people," the officer added. "The arrested accused made a rent agreement on June 4 and were operating the office for the last 15 days. They also had a website -- -- and took donations. Further investigation is on," he said. The accused have been identified as Vibhash Chandra Adhikari (27), an arts graduate, Aragya Adhikari (26), a law graduate, Pintu Pal (27), Samapdal (25), Babul Chandra Mandal (27), Ashish Kumar (57) -- all Class-12 pass. While the first four are residents of West Bengal's Birbhum district, Mandal and Kumar are residents of 24 Parganas and Kolkata respectively, police said. Police have seized nine mobile phones, 17 stamp seals, six cheque books, nine identity cards, a PAN card, a voter card, six ATM cards, three types of visiting cards, certificates recognised by ministries and a CPU. Four boards of the "International Police and Crime Investigation Bureau", Rs 42,300 in cash and other documents were also seized from the possession of the accused. A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Information Technology Act and Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act at the Phase 3 police station in Central Noida.
