Fantastic Four box office Day 2: Marvel film sees mild growth after slow start

India Today6 days ago
Marvel Studios' highly anticipated film 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' has finally hit theatres worldwide and is receiving a fantastic response from global audiences - a much-needed win for Marvel after a string of underwhelming releases. However, in India, the movie had a lukewarm start, earning below expectations despite the global buzz.According to estimates by Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 5.25 crore nett on its opening day in India and saw a slight improvement on day two with Rs 7.35 crore nett, taking its two-day total to Rs 12.60 crore. Industry analysts believe the slow start is due to limited screen count, tough competition from ongoing Bollywood releases, and a general sense of superhero fatigue among Indian audiences.advertisementGiven its current pace, 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' is expected to touch around Rs 20 crore by the weekend and may wrap up with a lifetime India collection of Rs 40 crore at best. Its performance could further dip in the coming weeks as new Bollywood films like 'Dhadak 2' and 'Son of Sardaar 2' are slated to release and take over valuable screens.
Internationally, though, the film is soaring. It earned USD 49.2 million from overseas markets, contributing to a strong global total of USD 106.2 million so far. In North America, it topped the box office with a stellar USD 57 million on Friday alone, making it the second-biggest U.S. opening day of 2025 - just behind 'Minecraft: The Movie (USD 57.1 million). Notably, the film earned USD 24.4 million from Thursday night previews, beating DC's 'Superman' ($ 22.5 million) for the highest preview figures of the year.Set in 1960 on Earth-828, 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' introduces the iconic Marvel superhero team in a fresh storyline. The cast includes Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn in lead roles, with Julia Garner, Sarah Niles, Mark Gatiss, Natasha Lyonne, Paul Walter Hauser, and Ralph Ineson in key supporting parts. While its Indian box office journey began on a slower note, 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' seems to have found firm footing worldwide, setting the stage for a promising run for Marvel's new phase.- Ends

Randeep Hooda on why every role feels like his first

Mumbai: Actor-filmmaker Randeep Hooda says acting is never easy as it always carries fear and uncertainty and added that each role is like starting from scratch. Talking about if acting is ever easy for him or does every role still bring a level of fear and uncertainty, Randeep told IANS: 'If you're not uncertain and you're not feeling like, oh my God, this time, I personally, this time they're going to discover that I don't know anything about acting. That is what keeps me on my toes and I really believe that. 'It's always as if I'm doing my first job.' Asked what he believes is more powerful – what the actor says or what the actor doesn't say, Randeep told IANS: 'Whatever you say are just your thoughts. And most of us try to hide our thoughts or don't completely say what we mean.' 'So it is the distance between those. I think speaking is the last form of any communication between two human beings.' On the big screen front, Randeep will next be seen in the epic war drama 'Operation Khukri' lined-up.
