Strictly winner's show axed by ITV after just one series on air in major blow to star

A STRICTLY Come Dancing winner's show has been shelved by ITV after one series on air.
Chris McCausland lifted the glitterball trophy last December with his pro partner Dianne Buswell in a historic win.

Since then, the 47-year-old has been inundated with TV work offers and even starred in his own Christmas movie with comedian Lee Mack.
However, in a blow to the blind comic, his ITV chat show has been pulled off air after one series.
The programme - titled The Chris McCausland Show - debuted last year on Saturday mornings on ITV1.
It was part of a schedule shakeup, which saw bosses axe Laura Whitmore and Oti Mabuse's similar shows.
A source said: "ITV appears to be moving away from studio-based chat shows in their weekend schedule.
"In the last number of years they've invested heavily in their daytime programmes and have given new faces an opportunity to shine.
"Chris was a breath of a fresh air, but ultimately there are no plans for his show to return."
All 11 episodes of Chris' first series are available now to stream on ITVX.
Chris has already landed another telly gig - on rival channel the BBC - with a one-off special documentary exploring the future of technology.
He'll explore how new tech will impact him personally as he lives with retinitis pigmentosa, a condition that took his eyesight when he was a child.
Meanwhile, Loose Women star Katie Piper has had her programme renewed for a third outing, but with a major shakeup.
The 41-year-old has ditched her studio in favour for a countryside backdrop, with ITV rebranding the show Katie Piper's Weekend Escape.
Oti Mabuse has addressed her ITV series being axed in a new interview.
Speaking to Prima, Oti said: 'When I look back on Strictly, I think the whole seven-year journey was amazing. I still work on the show. I still do choreography, I'm still talking to the producers.
"I say that the show brought me everything, like me sitting here today, and the relationship still very much continues.
"There were ups, there were downs; if you can imagine being the first Black anything, anywhere, there will always be ups and downs."

The Wanted star and former Strictly Come Dancing champion Jay McGuiness finds new career success away from boyband fame

He shot to fame as a member of boyband The Wanted in 2009. But since the group went on hiatus a decade ago, Jay McGuiness has found success in a whole new career industry, a world away from his pop star days. The singer, 34, was part of the band alongside Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Tom Parker, and Nathan Sykes, which produced number one hits like Glad You Came and All Time Low. After they disbanded in 2014, he went on to appear on Strictly Come Dancing the following year and was crowned the champion with professional dance partner Aliona Vilani. Jay's incredible dancing talent soon opened new doors, with the musician going on to forge a career in musical theatre. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. He made his West End debut in Big The Musical, based on the 1988 film Big, and played the lead character made famous by Tom Hanks. He then treaded the boards in Rip It Up opposite fellow boyband and Strictly stars, McFly's Harry Judd and JLS' Aston Merrygold, as well as starring in musical stage versions of Sleepless in Seatle and White Christmas. Jay also was one of the famous faces to take a turn at starring in 2:22 A Ghost Story, while he has been starring as William Shakespeare in the UK tour of & Juliet. He has admitted that Strictly was a 'boomerang' for him to pursue his passion for musical theatre, crediting the show for allowing him the opportunity to get on producers' radar. He previously gushed: 'I'm so thankful I did Strictly. It's the scary things that end up being rewarding. 'Whenever I feel pretty low after a long period of time it is because I have cocooned myself away from the things that are scaring me. Then you end up feeling stagnant. Every time I have pushed myself, I have felt happy I did.' He added: 'I loved the nine hour rehearsals with Strictly and my partner was a legend. I was lucky as a lot of people were still in soaps or had kids to go home to. But I was free as a bird and could train for as long as I wanted. 'The adrenaline you get from going on live television on Saturday it really knackers you. And the day after your exhausted. You get Sunday off to decompress then go again.' But Jay has also begun a whole new career far away from the world of music and stage, having become a published author. He wrote his debut fantasy novel, Blood Flowers, in February 2024, with a sequel, Poison Tides, set to be released next month. According to Waterstones, the young adult series is 'a story of love, witchcraft, betrayal and murder', which focuses on themes of poverty, class divide and addiction. Opening up on he came to write the book, Jay appeared on Westlife star Nicky Byrne's podcast in February, where he explained he had always loved the fantasy genre. He said: 'They asked if I would be interested in writing an autobiography and I was like, "heck no". But fantasy was something I knew - I'd been around it for so long, I knew what I wanted to write. 'And so I guess, it was a year of me on my laptop going for it. And then we shipped it to a few different places and Scholastic is my publisher. And that is the OG publishers. They liked my draft and away they went.' Jay explained that he had wanted to write a 'fantasy book that I would've liked to have read when I was a kid' and admitted that the story was partly inspired by his own sudden rise to stardom in The Wanted. He said: 'It's like some kid that's in a small town, where everyone's sort of on top of you and on top of each other and they you find out you've got this magical power. 'And away you go into a world where all that stuff that used to scare you isn't scary anymore and now you meet the real big bad wolves. 'And it is parallel to me being whisked off into a boyband and meeting those music execs. I felt like a fish out of water when I was back home and now that I've seen the rest of the world, I am a fish so strongly from the water that I'm from. But with magic!' And with his huge success in theatre and publishing, it seems that Jay has also decided to draw a line under his time in The Wanted, following the tragic death of his bandmate Tom. The father-of-two passed away from brain cancer at the age of 33 in March 2022, after he was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma in October 2020, The Wanted released a greatest hits album in 2021 and performed a one-off show that same year, before they went on tour in early 2022, which ended just two weeks before Tom's death. And while members Max and Siva are touring together as The Wanted 2.0, Nathan has said that he and Jay would struggle to perform without Tom. He previously told The Sun in March: 'I'm really happy for them. They get a lot of enjoyment in performing the music and they see it as a tribute to Tom. 'I think it's really difficult imagining The Wanted as a four-piece because The Wanted has been and will only ever be a five-piece, it's difficult imagining not performing with Tom.'

Love Island 'signs gym enthusiast' who's undergone major transformation

With the 2025 season of Love Island now just days away, increasing reports are emerging to suggest exactly who will be entering the villa - with a football fan the latest to be linked to the show Love Island casting agents have enlisted a "cheeky chappy" to take part as a contestant in the upcoming 2025 season of the long-running ITV reality dating show. A gym enthusiast named Tommy Bradley has been reported as cast in the upcoming new season, which will be the 12th to air over the past decade. The Londoner, who appears to be an avid fan of Tottenham Hotspur, is said to have undergone a dramatic body transformation in preparation for his time in the villa. He will be flown to the Mediterranean, where he stands to find love with any number of beautiful women enlisted to join the contestants in the main house - or those who plan to wreck romances in the inevitable Casa Amor phase of the show. ‌ It is reported that show bosses hope Tommy can bring some humour to the series as he is being described as a "cheeky" contestant. While ITV is yet to unveil the cast of the upcoming new season of their reality show, which airs on June 9, reports of potential contestants have become rife in recent days. ‌ A source told The Sun:"Tommy seems to tick all the Love Island boxes as the cheeky chappy of this summer's series. He looks to enjoy a night out with the lads and out on the boxing scene with his brother. "But he's also packed on serious muscle over the last year, ready for telly's famous villa and is no longer just a personality hire. Execs are finalising who will be in the OG line-up and who will be a bombshell." ‌ The Mirror has contacted ITV for comment. While photos shared by Tommy via Instagram paint him as a classic tanned, toned and smily potential Islander. Love Island is just over a week away from returning to screens, with an official synopsis reading: "A fresh batch of singles prepare for the summer of a lifetime in the ultimate search for love, with host Maya Jama overseeing proceedings at the villa in Majorca." Maya Jama has been teasing the upcoming new season - which marks 10 full years since the series first returned in 2015 with the late Caroline Flack as the host. The new season is set to kick off on Monday 9 June - and it could be the most dramatic season of all time. ‌ An advert for the returning show has been unleashed showing Maya sat in a brain storming session trying to think up new ways to keep viewers engaged on the show. The clip was shared via Instagram with a caption stating: "To the hottie this may concern, as per the last 11 Series, we're staying loyal to the entertainment. "Moving forward, we'll be levelling up on the twists. The stakeholders are aligned, the Islanders will be laying it on Factor 50, and we're on track to hit our KPI on drama. It's time to crack on and deliver serious results. Let's circle back soon. Warmest wishes x." ‌ The footage showed Maya saying to the team: "This year Love Island needs something bigger, something bolder. I want ideas." One of the team suggests: "Move it to the Isle of Wight?" But this prompted an unimpressed expression from Maya. Another suggested: "What if we turned it into a musical?" Only for Maya to ask: "Why?" Another suggested: "Love Island, on ice?" But Maya hit back, saying: "Never." And when the suggestion of including robots is made, she yells: "No!" Addressing the camera, and seemingly anyone who does want to take part in the show, she says: "This year I want more drama, more bombshells, more break-ups, more make-ups. I want more twists. I want more twists than ever." The series is set to return on ITV2 on Monday 9 June at 9pm - with footage then airing on ITV1 from 10:45pm following the conclusion of the 2025 launch episode.

Chris Hughes kisses JoJo Siwa in very loved-up snap after 'confirming romance'

Celebrity Big Brother stars Chris Hughes and JoJo Siwa have their fans gripped by their budding romance as they shared a very cosy snap from the bedroom before removing it Chris Hughes posted and swiftly deleted a steamy bedroom snap with JoJo Siwa as fans are convinced it is proof of their romance. The Love Island star, 32, has been getting cosy with JoJo, 22, as she spends time in the UK for her tour. They have enjoyed meals out, bowling, time with family and have made sure to get plenty of moments alone. Chris and JoJo's bond has had fans hooked as they are yet to fully confirm the status of their relationship. ‌ Since leaving Celebrity Big Brother, fans have looked for any clues they can to prove the pair are more than friends. It seems the duo are enjoying the attention around their relationship, as they have continued to post some very intimate photos from the bedroom. ‌ In his latest post, Chris took a selfie as he kissed JoJo's forehead while tucked up in bed together. Dance Moms star JoJo snuggled into Chris' chest with her eyes closed as the reality star gushed: "Sleeping beauty." The photo wasn't up on Chris' page for long as it was soon deleted. However, it was too late to hide any evidence as many fans were able to screenshot the photo and share it amongst each other. ‌ Chris and JoJo still haven't commented on reports about their relationship turning up a notch, having previously said they were just platonic soulmates. Fans are convinced that they have been dropping major hints that they are an item, with JoJo admitting she has 'never felt so special and so loved'. Before JoJo returned to the UK, Chris flew out to Mexico to support the dancer at her show. He met her mum and manager Jessalynn and was even snapped sharing a kiss with JoJo while in a pool. ‌ They have previously shared other snaps from the bedroom, as earlier in the week, Chris took to Snapchat to reveal that they were watching Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? together. Just hours before the post, Chris had teased that he was cooking a meal for JoJo. He later shared a photo of a table with their meals, with a vase full of roses visible on the side of their bowls and a lit candle nearby. This weekend, JoJo appeared on Channel 4 's Sunday Brunch where she revealed how Chris has slotted right into her family. JoJo said: 'She (Siwa's mother) does love him. My parents think the absolute world of him and him and my dad are like best friends. ‌ 'Chris was actually telling me that yesterday they went to the spa together. They're literally best friends. Mum, she absolutely adores him. I love watching her watch us because I've never seen my mum so happy." She added: "It feels like we're a family. It feels like he's been in my family for however many years. It feels like they just all get along as well as I do." Addressing how they plan to see each other despite the distance, JoJo said: 'I think there will definitely be a lot more time spent here, and I think from him as well, a lot more time spent over there, but we both have families, you know, on either end.'
