Rose, who will make his seventh appearance for Europe, posted a picture on Instagram of him celebrating holing a putt from a previous Ryder Cup with the caption: 'Reporting for duty Captain!'

Russell Henley, Bryson DeChambeau and Harris English are currently in the USA's final three automatic spots, with their qualification ending after Sunday's BMW Championship.

Schauffele, who has made 70 consecutive cuts on the PGA Tour, finished T22 on Sunay to mathematically clinch his spot. Scheffler finished T3 on Sunday but has long been a lock for the squad with wins at the PGA Championship and the Open Championship this year, along with victories at the Memorial and the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Russell Henley has 11,904.82 Ryder Cup rankings points, followed by DeChambeau (10,774.98), English (10,439.55) and Justin Thomas (10,347.59).
