One Of The Best Zombie Movies Ever Made Lands On Netflix Today
After years of The Walking Dead and countless zombie movies and TV shows, it can be tricky to find a truly gripping entry in the genre. But Netflix just released one of the best zombie movies ever made, and it's worth a watch even if you're burnt out on undead horror.
Train To Busan is a South Korean thriller that mixes terrifying zombies, cowardly betrayal and some genuinely great characters with something a lot of these types of movies are sorely lacking: A lot of heart.
The film first released back in 2016, but it remains one of my favorite zombie films of all time. Directed by Yeon Sang-ho, the film stars Gong Yoo as Seok-woo, a workaholic father and fund manager. His daughter, Su-an (Kim Su-an) wants to spend her birthday with her mother in Busan. Feeling guilty over missing his daughter's singing recital, Seok-woo grants her wish and they board a train at Seoul Station.
Things very rapidly start to spiral when a sick woman boards the train and attacks a train attendant. The woman was already infected and had turned into a zombie, and the train attendant turns as well. Soon, more passengers are turning and things are just as bad in the city.
Other passengers on the train include blue-collar worker Sang-hwa (Ma Dong-seok) and his pregnant wife Seong-kyeong (Jung Yu-mi), a high-school baseball team, and the conniving businessman, Yon-suk (Kim Eui-sung) whose selfishness leads to all sorts of terrible twists down the line.

Train To Busan follows these and other passengers as they hurtle through a rapidly devolving civilization overrun by the dead. Most of the action takes place aboard the train itself, leading to claustrophobic tension and mayhem, as passengers fight to survive, battling not only the zombies but other passengers to make their way to safety.
What really makes the film work, however, is the strength of these characters. Seok-woo, in particular, has a really fantastic arc, as he finally learns what's really important in life, even if that realization comes a little too late. The zombies are terrifying, and every situation our heroes find themselves in is a horrific, life-or-death struggle. Once this movie takes off, it never relents, but even with all the action, each character is so well-drawn that it's impossible not to care about their fates.
If you haven't seen this one yet, do yourself a favor and add it to your watchlist this weekend. South Koreans do zombies better than just about anybody.
Bonus: For perhaps the best zombie TV show I've ever seen, check out Kingdom on Netflix. It's another South Korean series, but this time set during 17th century three years after the end of the Imjin War. The show blends a zombie plague with feudal politics worthy of Game Of Thrones. It's harrowing and brilliant and filled with intense action and a phenomenal cast.

A masterclass in non-linear storytelling, 'Memento' offers two separate narrative strands that at first appear confusing and a little contradictory, but by the end join together in a satisfying full-circle moment. Pearce plays Leonard Shelby, a former insurance agent, suffering from amnesia, and on the hunt for the man he believed murdered his wife. To say any more would spoil some of the movie's surprises, but I'll just advise you to watch this one very closely. Martin Scorsese's 2013 crime comedy reveals in excess, not least of which via the chunky three-hour runtime. But that's sort of the whole point. This lampooning of the Wall Street lifestyle casts a condemning glance over a seedy world where 'enough is never enough.' Frankly, this movie sells itself based on the talent involved with Leonardo DiCaprio in the leading role, and Jonah Hill, Margot Robbie and Matthew McConaughey flanking him in support. With Scorsese behind the camera, no wonder it's considered a modern great. The subject matter is Jordan Belfort (DiCaprio), a real-life former stockbroker who eventually pleaded guilty to fraud and market manipulation after years of illegal activities. The movie follows Belfort from entry-level Wall Street grunt to the leader of his own firm. A trail of debauchery-fueled carnage follows in his wake, and while his rise is swift, his eventual fall comes equally as fast. 'The Wolf of Wall Street' is funny, smart and most of all, supremely entertaining from beginning to end. Steven Spielberg's 1998 epic is judged by many to be his magnum opus, which, when you consider his filmography bursting with classics, is extremely high praise indeed. It sets the tone with its devastating opening set on Omaha Beach during the Normandy invasion of June 1944, and from there, it's an often-bleak exploration of the horrors of World War II. But what makes 'Saving Private Ryan' so impressive is that while it showcases the brutality of war, it doesn't forget to give viewers glimpses of hope and humanity. It sees Captain John Miller (Tom Hanks) tasked with leading a squad of men behind enemy lines to locate the eponymous Private James Ryan (Matt Damon). Ryan's three brothers have been killed in combat, and the U.S. military determines that, for moral purposes, Ryan must be found and brought home to save his family from more heartbreak. While attempting to find Ryan, the group faces overwhelming odds and huge hardship, but they approach each obstacle with honor and unrelenting courage. This twisty movie will really stay with you, and you'll probably want to watch it more than once just to unravel its many layers. It presents a simple story on the surface, but there's plenty to dig into beyond the basic setup. Plus, the leading performance from Andrea Riseborough is really quite special. 'Possessor' is set in the near future and sees an elite assassin, Tasya Vos (Riseborough), complete various hits for a corporation. The intrigue comes in her method, which involves taking control of other people's bodies to complete the job, but things get complicated when a host fights back against Tasya's invasion of their mind. If you need further convincing, "Possessor" holds a 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Watch "Possessor" on Tubi now If I were judging movies based solely on the quality of their screenplay, then '12 Angry Men' would be almost unrivalled. It packs some of the greatest writing in Hollywood history, and the fact that everything else about it is seriously fantastic is just a very appreciated bonus. Directed by Sidney Lumet, written by Reginald Rose, and starring the legendary Henry Fonda, it's a legal drama so riveting that it challenges even the best thrillers and has more than stood the test of time. Even its themes of societal prejudice and the true nature of justice remain as timely today as they were back in the 1950s. The 12 men in question are the members of a jury in a New York County Courthouse. Their job is to decide the fate of a young 18-year-old boy accused of murdering his father. Convening in the jury chamber, initially, all but one juror (Fonda) is convinced of the boy's guilt, but as they begin to discuss the facts and their theories, each is forced to consider their morals and values, and reasonable doubt begins to creep in. Oh, and I can't talk about '12 Angry Men' without tipping my cap to Lee J. Cobb for his role as Juror No. 13, a man who is the most convinced of the dozen of the boy's guilt. Calvin Klein is going all in on K-pop hot boy summer with Seventeen member Mingyu
Seventeen's Mingyu is the face of Calvin Klein's Fall 2025 collection. He turned up the heat with promo videos wearing denim fits and repping the brand's iconic waistband. International sales matter to the brand. In 2024, they accounted for about 70% of its total sales. Calvin Klein is doubling down on K-pop, with a campaign starring K-pop star Mingyu of boy band Seventeen. The 28-year-old South Korean rapper and singer is the face of Calvin Klein's Fall 2025 collection. He was spotted modeling several denim outfits in the brand's promotional videos, which were released on Tuesday. In the videos, Mingyu, surrounded by large black speakers and dramatic lighting, showed off Calvin Klein's new pieces, such as its 90s Straight Jeans, and a monogrammed denim top and pants combo. Of course, like most Calvin Klein advertisements, there were shots dedicated to the star shirtless, showing off the iconic waistband of the brand's underwear. It previously hired stars like BTS's Jungkook, Blackpink's Jennie, and several members of NewJeans. Mingyu, too, has been a Calvin Klein mainstay. He appeared in two of the brand's previous campaigns — Fall 2024 and Spring 2025. Calvin Klein is crucial to keeping international customers happy. According to an earnings report by its parent company, PVH Corp, about 69% of its total sales in 2024, or about $2.48 billion, came from its international business. Calvin Klein's North America sales in 2024 totaled $1.12 billion. The brand's partnership with Puerto Rican rapper and singer Bad Bunny was another international collaboration that paid off hugely. Calvin Klein's video of Bad Bunny's, in which he wears the brand's cotton stretch underwear and dances to the tune of his song EoO, has been viewed 32.6 million times as of press time.
