Guntur Division observes World Environment Day and International Level Crossing Awareness Day with vigour
To commemorate World Environment Day, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Sudeshna Sen led officers and staff in a pledge to adopt eco-friendly habits and actively reduce plastic usage. A vibrant rally and a street play (Nukkad Natak) was held on the platforms and in the concourse of Guntur Railway Station, highlighting the harmful effects of plastic pollution and encouraging sustainable practices.
In a parallel effort to enhance green cover, a tree plantation drive was conducted at the Nallapadu freight depot. DRM Sudeshna Sen, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM), and several branch officers participated in the initiative, planting saplings and encouraging similar efforts across the division.
Simultaneously, the division observed International Level Crossing Awareness Day by launching intensive safety campaigns at key manned level crossings. With increasing incidents at level crossings, officials from the Railways, Railway Protection Force (RPF), and Road Transport authorities conducted awareness drives to educate pedestrians and motorists on safe crossing practices.
The safety awareness campaigns were held at Level Crossing No. 3 between Guntur and Reddipalem (Inner Ring Road gate), Level Crossing No. 6 between Nallapadu and Bandarupalle (near Peddapalakaluru village), and Level Crossing No. 312 between Guntur and Nallapadu. Commuters were advised on crucial precautions such as obeying signals, understanding warning systems, and ensuring safe passage only after checking for clear exits.
