Stating that what happened in Bihar reveals 'the Delhi regime' knows the same electorate that once voted for it would vote it out, the chief minister said,'That is why it is trying to stop them from voting altogether. If you cannot defeat us, you seek to delete us. Don't play with fire. Any threat to our democracy will be met with firm resistance,' Stalin warned.
The DMK president also said Tamil Nadu would raise its voice in full force and would fight this injustice with every democratic weapon at its disposal. Using the hashtags #BiharSIR and #QuitSIR, Stalin called upon every citizen who believes in the Constitution to rise against the SIR.

Let BJP provide evidence on diversion of funds meant for SCs, STs, says Kharge
Refuting the allegation that funds allocated for the welfare of Dalits under Scheduled Castes Sub-Plan (SCSP) and Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) have been diverted by the Congress government, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge has asked BJP leaders to provide records to prove their charge. 'Let the BJP leaders furnish detailed documents on the diversion of such funds, instead of making baseless accusation and misleading people,' Mr. Kharge told a press conference here on Monday. 'In fact, these funds were diverted for various department works during the then BJP government in the State. The former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who is now BJP MP, himself accepted it during Assembly session. But now the same BJP leaders are spreading false propaganda and attempting to criticize the Congress-led government in the State,' Mr. Kharge claimed. Mr. Kharge dared the BJP leaders to get more funds from the Central government for the welfare of Dalits and adivasis, if they are really concerned about them. He said that at least a State ruled by the BJP should receive additional funds from the Central government for the uplift of the marginalized communities. Reacting to the allegation made by the Opposition about discrimination in the allocation of development funds to constituencies represented by their MLAs, Mr. Kharge said, 'When the BJP was in power in the State, there was discrimination in releasing funds to constituencies represented by Congress MLAs.' 'They have not allocated equal grants and I have openly expressed this many times,' he claimed. Responding to a query on the shortage of urea in the State, Mr. Kharge said that Agriculture Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy met the Union Agriculture Minister urging him to supply urea to meet demand. This year, the State has not received the required quantity of fertilizer. In Kalaburagi district, farmers have achieved 100% of the sowing target and there is a demand for 500 tonnes of fertilizer. Of this demand, 200 tonnes have already been supplied from Bagalkot and the remaining (300 tonnes) will be supplied soon, he said. Mr. Kharge urged the BJP leaders to protest in Delhi and ensure that adequate fertilizer is supplied to the State. Reacting to BJP national general secretary (organization) B.L. Santhosh's objection over AICC general secretary in-charge of Karnataka Randeep Surjewala holding meeting with Ministers in the State, Mr. Kharge asked 'Whether the BJP leaders expect Mr. Santhosh or RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale to conduct such meetings.' Expressing displeasure over the recent developments at the Central University of Karnataka, the Minister accused Central Universities of functioning like RSS Shakhas. 'Earlier, we were denied permission for organising a programme on the university campus. The university was established with the efforts of All India Congress Committee president Mallikarjun Kharge to facilitate the educational development of the region but the campus is being used for RSS activities,' he claimed.

Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagenthran on Monday described Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to the state as a reaffirmation of Tamil Nadu's deep-rooted spiritual and cultural legacy. He said the visit demonstrated how the land continues to nurture spirituality despite persistent efforts by certain groups to promote atheistic narratives. Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister for his two-day tour and a series of major announcements, Nagenthran said, 'PM Modi, who proudly presents Tamil history on global platforms, continues to identify and elevate Tamil heritage internationally. What more proof is needed to show that he holds deep affection for the Tamil language, culture, and the glorious legacy of Tamil kings?' He termed the Prime Minister's visit 'historic,' highlighting his participation in the 1000th-year celebration of Emperor Rajendra Chola's reign and the launch of several key development initiatives. Among the major projects unveiled was the new terminal at Thoothukudi airport, constructed at a cost of Rs 452 crore. In total, projects worth Rs 4,900 crore were launched, including the Thanjavur–Sethiyathoppu highway project. Addressing a public gathering in Thoothukudi, PM Modi paid glowing tributes to legendary Tamil figures such as V.O. Chidambaram Pillai, Veerapandiya Kattabomman, and Subramania Bharathi, Nagenthran said. Nagenthran also praised the Prime Minister's recent gesture of gifting traditional Pandyan pearls to Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, calling it a symbolic tribute to Tamil Nadu's rich legacy. On the second day of his visit, PM Modi became the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the historic Brihadeeswarar temple in Gangaikonda Cholapuram, where he performed abhishekam with Ganga water. He also released a commemorative coin in honour of Rajendra Chola and a text of the Thiruvasakam. The event featured traditional Thevaram recitals and a Thiruvasakam symphony composed by music maestro Ilaiyaraaja. PM Modi also announced that grand statues of Emperor Rajaraja Chola and his son Rajendra Chola would be installed in Tamil Nadu as a mark of respect to their contributions to Indian history and culture. Outrage over nuns' arrests puts BJP's Christian outreach on backfoot
The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) sustained efforts to bridge the trust gap with Kerala's Christian community appear to have suffered a serious jolt following the arrest of two Keralite nuns in Chhattisgarh. The incident has sparked widespread condemnation across Church denominations, with both clergy and lay organisations voicing strong protests. The Catholic Church, through its official mouthpiece Deepika, denounced the arrests in unequivocal terms while the CSI and Orthodox Churches also registered their protest. In a rare public rebuke, Pala Bishop Mar Joseph Kallarangatt voiced his anguish during a message delivered at the Holy Mass at Bharananganam held in connection with the feast of Saint Alphonsa. 'The incident in Chhattisgarh is not just an attack on two women, but on entire religious communities and marginalised groups. It represents a clear violation of both fundamental and human rights. As Catholics, we are neither abductors nor traffickers. The only passage we offer is to heaven,' the Bishop said. The All Kerala Catholic Congress (AKCC), the official lay organisation of the Syro-Malabar Church, announced plans for large-scale public protests in the coming days. With local body elections round the corner, the issue is expected to dominate political discourse across Kerala, particularly in central Travancore and in the high ranges of Malabar, regions where Christians hold considerable electoral influence. Expectedly, political parties across the United Democratic Front and the Left Democratic Front too have voiced support for the Church's position. But for the BJP, the timing couldn't be worse as the episode threatens to undo years of patient outreach just as the Catholic community has begun showing signs of asserting greater political agency. 'This is a clear setback, and we now have no option but to rebuild trust over time,' admitted a senior BJP leader. In fact, the BJP-Church relationship has witnessed dramatic shifts in recent years. Ties grew warmer amid shared concerns about alleged jihadist threats had peaked with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting with top bishops in Kochi in 2023. However, the subsequent attacks on churches in Manipur strained the fragile bond. The BJP has since attempted to regain ground by aligning with the Church's criticism of pro-Palestinian stances of rival parties and supporting calls by the Kerala Catholic Bishops' Council encouraging greater political participation among Christians. Meanwhile, the BJP now maintains it is providing legal assistance to the arrested nuns. Sumit George, newly appointed president of the BJP's Minority Morcha in Kerala, criticised attempts to politicise the issue. 'This is an isolated incident being exaggerated for political gains in Kerala. It's unfortunate that members of the Christian community are being misled by such propaganda,' he said. Responding to a report by the United Christian Forum claiming over 4,300 attacks on Christians in India over the past decade, Mr. George cast doubts on the credibility of the figures: 'We need to verify how an agency without official standing is compiling such statistics,' he added.
