Konami is remaking the original Silent Hill
Get ready for more Silent Hill. As part of its Press Start online presentation on Thursday, Konami announced that it's remaking the original Silent Hill in partnership with Bloober Team, the studio that developed last year's well-received Silent Hill 2 remake. Konami didn't share any more details beyond that the game is in development; the presentation didn't include any footage, screenshots, or even an estimated release date. The presentation also included a segment about Silent Hill F, the new entry in the series that's launching on September 25th. Silent Hill F is the first title in the series set in Japan, and during the segment, the game's developers talked about how they designed the game and some of their inspirations. It all looks pretty frightening. Konami kicked off the show with a segment on Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the upcoming remake of Metal Gear Solid 3. Part of the segment included footage of the Ape Escape -themed 'Snake vs. Monkey' mode, available on PS5 and Steam, the Bomberman -themed 'Snake vs. Bomberman' mode that you can play on Xbox Series X / S, and a new 'Fox Hunt' online multiplayer mode. Meta Launches Lawsuit Against 'Nudify' AI Company Over Facebook, Instagram Ads
Meta on Thursday said it is taking legal action to a company using AI technology to create nonconsensual sexual images of people. Joy Timeline Limited, based in Hong Kong, has allegedly circumvented Meta's ad review process to advertise its "nudify" app CrushAI. A previous report from investigative tech outlet 404 Media estimated that 90% of CrushAI's traffic came from ads on Meta's services like Platforms (META) on Thursday announced a lawsuit against a Hong Kong-based company that has managed to work around the social media giant's advertising detection technology to promote AI-powered explicit apps. The Facebook and Instagram parent said it is suing Joy Timeline HK Limited, which owns a slate of apps called CrushAI, one of which allows users to take a picture of a person and use AI technology to make the image sexually explicit. The lawsuit was filed in Hong Kong, where Joy Timeline is based, Meta said. The company behind the so-called "nudify" app continued to circumvent Meta's ad review process after previous ads for the service had been removed from Meta's platforms, Meta said. Meta also said it was revamping its detection technology to catch more ads that may not feature explicit content like nudity in its ads but are still promoting a service that violates Meta's rules. The move comes after Meta received a letter from Illinois Senator Dick Durbin earlier this year, who asked Meta to answer for how it safeguards against these types of ads. The letter cited a report from the tech news outlet 404 Media, who found that an estimated 90% of traffic to CrushAI's apps were coming from ads it had placed on Meta's platforms. Joy Timeline did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The suit is the second against an AI company in as many days, coming a day after Disney (DIS) and Universal teamed up to sue AI image generation company Midjourney, alleging the company has made millions in revenue by violating the copyrights of their properties like "Star Wars" and Marvel Comics. Multiplayer returns to the Metal Gear franchise after twelve years
After an absence of 12 years, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is bringing back multiplayer, but Konami cautions fans to expect a completely different experience than the original Metal Gear Online. Announced at Konami's Press Start Live event, the new multiplayer mode titled Fox Hunt is something like hide-and-seek on steroids, with a dash of camouflage thrown in. According to Yu Sahara, director of the multiplayer aspect, 'Fox Hunt is a completely original online multiplayer mode. Although it shares the same world with Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the gameplay is completely different.' That said, he did acknowledge the nostalgia fans have for the original Metal Gear Online. 'When we say Metal Gear multiplayer, many fans will probably think of Metal Gear Online, but Fox Hunt will be its own new type of mode. We very much appreciate all the long-time fans of MGO who have always wanted to see it make a comeback, but the landscape of multiplayer games has changed a lot since MGO. It took a lot of careful consideration to think about what a new online mode should look like.'
