‘New building bylaws to boost UP growth, ease urban dev'
Organised jointly by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) and the Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Associations of India (CREDAI) here, the workshop saw participation from architects, builders, and investors. The stakeholders welcomed the increased floor area ratio (FAR) and reduced building setbacks, which they said would simplify procedures and attract more development.
'The reform will write a new chapter in the economic development of the state,' Guruprasad said, adding that the new bylaws will enable planned and accelerated urbanisation.
Divisional commissioner Roshan Jacob stated that the amendments were made to address changing urban needs. 'This overhaul removes many complexities and brings clarity for common citizens,' she said.
A private agency presented the revised bylaws, explaining key provisions and practical implementation. A demonstration of the Fast Pass System, developed to ensure swift digital approvals of building maps, was also shown. The system aims to improve efficiency under the new framework, according to an LDA press release.
Architects said the revised rules would speed up development while promoting structured urban expansion. Developers and investors said the new norms were likely to improve the ease of doing business.
Officials, including director Awas Bandhu Ravi Jain, LDA vice chairman Prathamesh Kumar, secretary Vivek Srivastava, additional secretary Gyanendra Verma, and chief city planner KK Gautam, attended the session.

Govt aims 50% rise in milk procurement with White Revolution 2.0: Amit Shah
The government is working to increase milk procurement by 50 per cent over the next five years under the cooperative-led White Revolution 2.0, Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said on Tuesday. Chairing the second meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee, Shah outlined the government's ambitious plans for the cooperative sector, including the target of setting up 2 lakh multipurpose cooperative societies. So far, 35,395 new cooperative societies have been formed under this initiative. "The Ministry of Cooperation is committed to transforming cooperatives into vibrant and successful business units," Shah said, emphasising that the cooperative sector could pave the way to prosperity for landless and poor people. Under the White Revolution 2.0, significant progress has been made in strengthening the dairy sector. As many as 15,691 new Dairy Cooperative Societies have been registered while 11,871 existing ones have been strengthened, he said. The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and 25 Milk Unions across 15 states have signed MoUs to establish biogas plants in dairy cooperatives, according to a statement. The minister highlighted three national-level cooperative societies established for the sector's development. The National Cooperative Organic Limited (NCOL) handles certification, branding, packaging and marketing of farmers' organic products to ensure better prices. The National Cooperative Export Limited (NCEL) provides facilities for exporting farmers' products internationally, with full profits going to farmers. The Bharatiya Beej Sahkari Samiti Limited (BBSSL) focuses on conservation, storage and production of India's traditional seeds. Shah announced that the Modi government will enter into contracts with small farmers for traditional seeds to ensure they benefit from these initiatives. The ministry has undertaken over 100 initiatives in the past four years to strengthen Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), dairy, fisheries, cooperative banks, sugar cooperatives and governance systems. These include digital reforms, policy changes, financial support and institutional capacity building. The National Cooperative Policy-2025 provides a comprehensive roadmap for sustainable cooperative development, coordinating with government schemes like Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and National Dairy Development Program (NPDD) to strengthen the cooperative ecosystem at the grassroots level. During the meeting, the Ministry of Cooperation made a presentation to the committee on various initiatives taken in the last four years. The ministry informed that institutional mechanisms including Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC), National Level Coordination Committee (NLCC), State Cooperative Development Committees (SCDC), and District Cooperative Development Committees (DCDC) have been established for effective implementation and monitoring. A significant development is the establishment of Tribhuvan Sahkari University through a Parliamentary Act, declared an institution of national importance. The university will integrate and standardise cooperative education and training in India while providing skilled human resources for the sector. Shah urged committee members to strengthen the dairy sector in their respective states to boost cooperatives. The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to empower cooperatives as engines of growth, equality and self-reliance in rural India.

District Gears Up for Kharif-2025: Officials Directed to Ensure Equipment Readiness at Paddy Procurement Centers
Gadwal: In light of the upcoming Kharif-2025 season, District Additional Collector (Revenue) Lakshmi Narayana has directed officials to ensure that all essential equipment is readily available at the paddy procurement centers. On Tuesday, a review meeting was held in the chamber of the Collector's Office regarding the availability and requirements of equipment at paddy procurement centers for the Kharif-2025 season. The meeting was attended by officials from relevant departments and secretaries of market committees. During the meeting, the Additional Collector stated that equipment such as tarpaulins, moisture meters, electronic weighing scales, paddy cleaners, paddy dryers, automatic paddy cleaners, caliphers, and husk removers are currently available at the centers. However, he emphasized the need to make any additional equipment available promptly. He instructed the concerned officers to submit the list of required equipment to the District Marketing Department within two days. Agriculture officials were also directed to create awareness among farmers about the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) announced for the Kharif season through Agricultural Extension Officers (AEOs). Additionally, existing equipment at the procurement centers must be quickly returned to the respective market committees. Directions were given to the concerned departments, including the Co-operative and DRDO wings, to facilitate this process efficiently. The review meeting was attended by District Marketing Officer Pushpamma, District Civil Supplies Officer Swami Kumar, Civil Supplies District Manager Vimala, District Co-operative Officer Srinivas Rao, DRDO AO Siddayya, and other officials.

LDA plans raising devpt charges for properties near expressways
1 2 Lucknow: The Lucknow Development Authority plans to increase development charges for properties around corridors and expressways. A proposal to hire an agency for the Jayaprakash Narayan International Convention Centre and allocate budget for upcoming housing schemes, including the Anantnagar Housing Scheme, IT City, will be taken up in the Authority's meeting on Tuesday. The proposal for increasing the special amenity fee for properties located within 500 metres of Shaheed Path, Kisan Path, and the Green Corridor will also be discussed. The collected amount will be used for infrastructure and civic improvements in these areas. Moreover, the board will also consider approving an agency for managing JPNIC and transferring control to LDA. Furthermore, budget allocations for housing schemes, including Anantnagar, IT City, and Kamdhenu Nagar, will be reviewed. The board is expected to clear proposals for converting under-construction flats in Kabir Nagar Devpur Para Awas Yojna into 1BHK and 2BHK units. New group housing schemes in Aishbagh, Basant Kunj, Gomti Nagar (Viraj Khand), and Sector-4 of Gomti Nagar Extension are also likely to be approved. Changes in land use have been proposed for plots originally meant for telephone exchanges, post offices, and substations, to be used for residential development. Furthermore, land acquisition proposals include transferring 61 acres of Nehru Enclave land to the army, acquiring defence land from the Gomti river to Pipraghat for the Green Corridor dam, and taking over unused land from UP Sainik School. LDA will take up proposals for allocating land in Basant Kunj to Lucknow City Transport for an e-auto charging station. A bus terminal in Charbagh on UPSRTC land, to be built in PPP mode, is also under consideration. Proposals for borrowing from financial institutions for land acquisition near IIM Road and Agra Expressway, and for digitisation, ERP systems, and computerisation of records are also part of the meeting.
