Myanmar national found dead after fight with roommate
Kuala Muda police chief ACP Hanyan Ramlan said police received a call at 11.40pm on Sunday regarding the incident.
"Preliminary investigations found that a fight broke out between the victim, who was in his 30s, believed to be a Myanmar national and his roommate, also a Myanmar national.
"The suspect, who is in his 50s, fled into nearby bushes after the incident," Hanyan said in a statement today.
He said police detained 22 individuals to assist in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
"All the workers at the housing construction site were found to be without proper documentation," he added. - BERNAMA

Mazli added that he was initially sceptical about the offer, but the man, who is in his 40s, later brought him to meet a Tabung Haji officer at Menara Tabung Haji in the city centre. He claimed that both men mostly discussed the cattle-rearing project, which convinced him that it was a legitimate business opportunity. 'Earlier this month, I handed the businessman more than RM100,000. Soon after that, he kept asking me for more money, which made me suspect that he just wanted my money. 'Everything was done verbally, with no black-and-white agreement between us. However, he did provide me with a receipt after I gave him the money to invest,' he said. Mazli added that he continued calling the businessman for updates on the investment, but his calls and WhatsApp messages went unanswered. 'I then went to his restaurant in Bandar Dato Onn and saw him sitting a few tables away. I called his mobile phone, which he glanced at but ignored. 'When I approached him, he saw me and immediately left the restaurant,' he said, adding that he has since lodged a police report. It is learnt that the businessman was fined RM200,000 by the Sessions Court here last year for using a fake 'Datuk' title from Pahang. He had admitted to fraudulently using a letter of endorsement for recipients of a degree, medal or award from Pahang Darul Makmur, believed to be a fake document. The businessman also pleaded guilty to an alternative charge of displaying the Darjah Indera Mahkota Negeri Pahang emblem on his vehicle at the same time and place, which was also believed to be fake. When contacted, Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat confirmed that a police report had been lodged and said investigations were ongoing. He added that the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.

Two brothers plead not guilty to kidnapping and assault in Puchong
SHAH ALAM: Two brothers pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate's Court today to charges of kidnapping and voluntarily causing hurt to a man in Puchong last week. V. Kirtik Ram, 19, a lorry attendant, and his brother V. Theshvinram, 18, a despatch rider, were jointly accused of abducting a 21-year-old local man with intent to wrongfully confine him. The charge under Section 365 of the Penal Code carries a maximum penalty of seven years' imprisonment and a fine. A second charge under Section 323 for voluntarily causing hurt could result in a one-year jail term, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both. The alleged offences occurred at Jalan Persiaran Permai, Bukit Puchong, at 6.38 pm on July 22. The court granted bail at RM5,000 each for the kidnapping charge and RM2,000 each for causing hurt. Bangkok shooting claims six lives near Chatuchak Market

The attack occurred around 12.30 pm local time at the popular Or Tor Kor fresh food market. The assailant, wearing a black T-shirt and military-style shorts and carrying a backpack, was believed to have used a handgun to open fire on others. Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, Pol Gen Kitrat Phanphet, confirmed the case and said the assailant was male and had used the handgun to take his own life at the scene. "Police officers are currently working to identify the individual and determine the motive behind the attack," he said in a brief statement on Monday. Kitrat also instructed the Metropolitan Police Bureau to urgently carry out a comprehensive investigation, gather as much evidence as possible, and examine CCTV footage to uncover the facts and swiftly solve the case. The Bangkok Emergency Medical Centre, commonly known as the Erawan Centre, confirmed that the casualties comprised four security personnel, one woman, and the assailant himself.
