Essential road closures for the Cape Town International Jazz Festival 2025

While the streets of Cape Town will be coming alive with the music from this year's Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF), the City has announced a number of road closures for motorists to note, ensuring that festivities can be held safely.
Scheduled for Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26, at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), this year's festival promises to be an enthralling tapestry of sound, bringing together both beloved legends and fresh newcomers.
For music enthusiasts, this is an unmissable opportunity to experience the magic of 'Africa's Grandest Gathering' live.
This year's lineup takes the theme to the next level, honouring the past legends and welcoming the future with artists such as: Grammy Award winner DJ and producer Black Coffee in collaboration with Nduduzo Makhathini. DJ Black Coffee is a global icon who has electrified audiences across the world, performing in countries like the United States, Spain, Australia, Indonesia, Colombia, Brazil, and Qatar.
The other amazing artists who will grace the stages are: Thandiswa Mazwai, Ari Lennox, Lira, Benjamin Jeptha ft kujenga, Linda Sikhakhane, Malcolm Jiyane, Bongeziwe Mabandla, iphumho L'ka Biko, Masego, Incongito, Kelvin Momo, Igor Butman, Kandace Springs and TKZee performing on historic stages called Kippies, Manenberg, Rosies and Moses Molelekwa.
The City of Cape Town said that to facilitate the event, temporary road closures will be implemented in the city centre.
Motorists and residents have been advised to plan and make use of alternative routes.
With over 30 artists performing across multiple stages, the 21st edition of the CTIJF will deliver a vibrant celebration of global jazz, soul, and Afro-fusion.
Closures will be in effect around the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) for the main CTIJF event on 25 and 26 April: Walter Sisulu Avenue (East Bound) between Lower Long and Heerengracht Streets - Closed from 16:00 on Friday, 25 April to 17:00 on Sunday, 27 April

Mayco Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, said that CTIJF is one the Mother City's signature events and a mainstay in the City's events calendar for over 20 years.
'It is not just an event… It is a platform where people from all corners of the globe can come together in one space to celebrate their love of jazz, music and comradery.
'Over the years, the event has been able to attract thousands of visitors from outside the city to enjoy a few days of smooth jazz, music and overall Cape Town experience,' Smith said.
'Cape Town is once again looking forward to not only hosting Africa's Grandest Gathering but welcoming the thousands of revellers who will be coming from all over the world.'

‘A declaration of my love for my wife': Una Rams on release of debut album

He has worked with the likes of Burna Boy and recent Standard Bank Young Artist Award recipient Muneyi. The song with Muneyi, titled Ndi a Mufuna, was released earlier this year. The song is an ode to Ntando and their love. Una Rams said Meet Me At The Altar is a labour of love. 'It's arguably my best work yet, it's finally done and ready to be yours, so on Friday we'll take the next step with 'priceless possession' until you can finally… meet me at the altar.' 'Having to go back to work on some of these records, over and over again… something that reflected the life-long decision I was taking… if I could continue to refine and work on this, to me that meant I had what it took to work on myself and our relationship and really do forever.' We are pleased with how swiftly our team, along with the international engineers, addressed the challenges, ultimately ensuring the sound met the high expectations of the audience.' Security and entry problems add to the frustration Aside from the sound glitches, logistics at the Wanderers Stadium were lacking. Security appeared disorganised, ticket scanners malfunctioned, and entry tags ran out, creating bottlenecks at the gates. In the end, the professionalism of Anthony Hamilton, Joe Thomas, Zonke, and Sjava salvaged the event. Each gave their best, proving why they are icons in R&B and soul music. Hopefully, future Women's Day concerts will match this talent with flawless event execution.

Ed Sheeran and Rupert Grint's 'A Little More': a musical reunion worth celebrating

Grammy Award-winning artist Ed Sheeran has released his brand-new single "A Little More" alongside its official video. The new song is a part of his upcoming album "Play", set to be released next month. Underpinned by the blues, "A Little More" holds sharp lyrics and carries a message of self-preservation and moral courage. Sheeran wrote the song alongside Blake Slatkin, Cirkut, Johnny McDaid and DAVE, whom he worked with on "Nothing On You'. This track is the follow-up to Sheeran's single "Sapphire", which he worked on with Indian singer Arijit Singh. The pair released a special version of the track last month, with Sheeran singing a chorus in Hindi and Punjabi and Arijit singing a verse in Hindi and Punjabi and a chorus in English. The result was a blissful cross-cultural fusion of languages and cultures, adorning the song's celebration of love. Meanwhile, the official video for "A Little More" features "Harry Potter" star Rupert Grint.
