She added: "You don't need a king or a queen as parents, or a beautiful white horse, or even a fancy castle to live in. To be a powerful princess you just need to be wonderful, brilliant you!"

Teletubbies' Tinky Winky star's tragic death after being found in unusual circumstances

The actor who played Tinky Winky in the beloved children's TV show, Simon Shelton Barnes, died in heartbreaking circumstances back in 2018, aged only 52 years old Ever since it first aired, children's TV show Teletubbies has been a firm favourite with kids throughout the country. ‌ The legacy of the characters Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa Laa, and Po was so strong that the show was rebooted in 2014 by CBeebies, due to the popularity of the original first five seasons that ran from 1997 and 2001. ‌ But the hit show was suddenly marred by heartbreak in 2018, when one of the actors who held the role of Tinky Winky in the first run of the show tragically died. ‌ Simon Shelton Barnes had just moved to the Wirral, nearly 200 miles away from his previous home in Bedfordshire, looking for a fresh start. But within weeks, he was found dead on a street in Liverpool. The trained dancer and choreographer reportedly had struggles with alcohol and had hoped that this big move to the other side of the country would get him away from some of the distractions he had found rife living near London. Close pal Jane Rees reportedly said that Simon had been struggling living away from his three kids, who were the centre of his life. And Stephen's flatmate Judith said at the time about his tragic death, "I'm very floored at losing him, he was just the best company." An inquest found that Stephen had died from hypothermia after going on a night out in January 2018. ‌ He was found with a "high concentration of alcohol" and froze to death on the wintery streets on 17 January, with the coroner ruling it was likely a combination of the alcohol in his system and the 3C temperature that had caused him to tragically lose his life aged just 52 years old. He was discovered "at the Port of Liverpool Building in a well between the building and street," just after 7 am. His former Teletubbies co-star, John Summit, paid tribute to him after the heartbreaking news broke, with the actor who played Dipsy writing on social media, "What a week! RIP Simon Shelton aka Tinky Winky: remembering the many good times. Rest easy." ‌ TV stars Emily Atak and Robert Dawes were family members of Stephen's - who had a "medical history of alcohol dependence" and both of them made devastating tributes to the actor after his death. Robert said, "It's been a very tough week and we are all trying to look after the family as best we can." Emily movingly paid tribute to her "wonderful uncle" by saying he was "the kindest and most talented man you could ever wish to meet," adding that he was "loved by all who knew him, and will be forever". Simon previously said about his major role as Tinky Winky, "We used to receive a lot of fan mail from kind and parents, I suppose we were a bit like The Beatles or Take That of children's television." Tinky Winky's orientation was also a question levied at Simon over the years. "People always ask me if Tinky Winky is gay," he said. "But the character is supposed to be a three-year-old so the question is really quite silly."

Kate Middleton releases new video celebrating the beauty of British summer

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video The Princess of Wales has shared a new message with a professional video of the UK's beautiful landscapes that helped inspire her through her cancer journey. For 2025, Kate Middleton spoke of how she has been comforted by nature over the past year, during which she received treatment for cancer. Spreading a message of love, she has now released a second video through the Kensington Palace social media accounts highlighting the natural beauty of British summertime. She wrote a post on X, signed off with her initial: 'Our lives flourish when we cherish the bonds of love and friendship. It has never been more important to appreciate the value of one another, and of Mother Nature. Here's to Summer. C' Her voiceover is played over video shot by Will Warr, from TopJaw fame, depicting an idyllic vision of British summertime without the raging wildfires. It does include awe-inspiring moments from the UK's landscape, a pollinating bee, huge trees, crashing waves, towering cliffs and children playing in sand dunes. Catherine says: 'Summer is a season for abundance. Just as the flowers bloom and the fruits ripen, we too are reminded of our own potential for growth. It is the time to ignite our inner fire and explore our own creativity, passions, and dreams. 'As we bask in the sunlit hours, friends and families come together; playing, connecting, being present. Embracing the joy to be found in even the most fleeting of moments and shared experiences. 'Our lives flourish when we cherish the bonds of love and friendship. 'So open your hearts; sing, dance, play. 'The days are still long, so simply love, and be loved.' The glossy production includes shots from Sheffield, Bradford, North Wales and Anglesey and the south coast of England. It comes after a furore over her message, which led to her picture being pulled from news agencies, in a row over manipulation which dragged on for weeks and led to a public apology. She told how discrepancies seen in the family photo were not part of some big conspiracy, but her 'amateur' attempts at picture editing. The princess came under scrutiny following her Mother's Day message last year, which included a photo of her and her children said to have been taken by William in Windsor earlier in the week. Questions were raised that the image – the first of the princess to have been released after she underwent abdominal surgery a few weeks earlier – may have been manipulated before it was posted on social media. It was withdrawn by international picture agencies later the same day. Kate publicly took the blame for the manipulated photograph and issued a personal apology for the 'confusion'. She said: 'Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. 'I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. 'I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother's Day. C.' The princess underwent a course of preventative chemotherapy after her cancer diagnosis and announced in September last year that she had completed her treatment. More Trending In January, Kate confirmed she is 'now in remission' from cancer following a surprise visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital where she received her treatment. A message on social media, also signed 'C', said: 'I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year. 'My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything. 'We couldn't have asked for more. The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional. Got a story?
