Co-Axis Secures S$1.25 Million in Catalytic Capital to Scale Climate and Health Solutions in Asia
RF has committed S$250,000 over two years to co-fund impact opportunities curated by Co-Axis, with the support of C3H. RF will leverage the due diligence conducted by C3H and align with its investment terms and post-investment reporting framework. C3H is also committing S$1 million to co-fund Co-Axis impact opportunities focused on climate, health, and their intersection.
'We see great value in being able to co-invest in curated opportunities where the intent is clear, the due diligence is robust, and the additionality we bring is meaningful,' said a spokesperson for the Richardson Family.
'Catalytic capital plays a vital role in de-risking early-stage opportunities and unlocking additional funding,' said Mr Ryan Tan, Head, C3H. 'At C3H, we back bold, scalable solutions in climate, health, and their intersection. By harnessing Co-Axis and a collaborative ecosystem, we can accelerate capital deployment and scale impact where it matters most.'
Bridging the SDG Financing Gap Through Catalytic Capital
The global push to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 faces a significant financing shortfall, with estimates indicating an annual gap of approximately US$4.2 trillion[1]. This deficit is particularly pronounced in developing regions, where public funding for international development has stagnated over the past decade.
Catalytic capital – patient, risk-tolerant, and flexible – has emerged as a key enabler in bridging this gap. Unlike conventional investments, it is designed to unlock additional private capital and absorb higher risk to drive positive social and environmental outcomes. In Asia, momentum is growing: the ASEAN Catalytic Green Finance Facility is helping mobilise funds for sustainable infrastructure, while other initiatives such as the Climate Innovation and Development Fund or the Southeast Asia Clean Energy Facility II (SEACEF II) further signal a regional shift towards more innovative, impact-focused financing.
While still nascent, the catalytic capital ecosystem is gaining traction as more funders recognise its potential to transform how capital is deployed. Co-Axis contributes to this momentum by channelling funding into SDG-aligned opportunities with strong governance, measurable outcomes, and potential for systems-level change.

India wants US ties based on mutual respect
US President Donald Trump raised tariffs on Indian goods to 50% last week from an earlier 25%. (Getty Images/AFP pic) NEW DELHI : India said today that it hoped relations with the US would move forward based on mutual respect and shared interests, seeking to temper worries that ties were headed downhill in the aftermath of high tariffs imposed by Washington. A US defence policy team will be in New Delhi this month for talks with Indian officials and its arms purchases from the US are on course despite the strain in ties, the Indian foreign ministry said. A new friendship built between the two countries has hit a rough patch after president Donald Trump raised tariffs on Indian goods to 50% last week from an earlier 25% saying it was a penalty for India's continued imports of Russian oil. New Delhi has accused the US of double standards in singling it out for Russian oil imports and called the tariffs unfair, unjustified and unreasonable. At the same time, it has also indicated that the warming of ties that began at the turn of the century covers a wide range of areas and should not be seen only through the prism of trade, although it hopes that trade talks will continue and result in a deal. 'This partnership has weathered several transitions and challenges… and we hope that the relationship will continue to move forward based on mutual respect and shared interests,' Indian foreign ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal told a regular media briefing. Purchases of military equipment from Washington were on course, Jaiswal said, adding that a US defence policy team was expected in Delhi this month. Reuters reported last week that India has put on hold its plans to procure new US weapons and aircraft and that a planned trip to Washington by the Indian defence minister had been cancelled. The Indian government subsequently said reports of a pause in the talks were wrong.

Heineken eyes opportunities in increased tourism activities
Heineken Malaysia managing director Martijn van Keulen PETALING JAYA: Heineken Malaysia Bhd is eyeing opportunities from the increased tourism activities in the country, despite concerns on soft consumer sentiment for the time being. Its managing director Martijn van Keulen in the presentation of the company's 2Q financial performance said its results were mainly due to weaker consumer sentiment, which was in part affected by the continued external trade situation. 'The geopolitical situation is not helping especially with the talk on US-tariffs. Consumers are slowing down on the amount of money they're willing to spend on luxury items. The first half was rife with some challenges - the strong Chinese New Year season this had started strongly but the consumer sentiment faded a little bit in March to May. "Hopefully we will see consumer confidence returning eventually,' Martijn said. Its finance director Jana Martine Hanneman said while the situation was difficult with the struggling consumer sentiment, the company was committed to sustaining a dividend payout. 'There was a slowdown in the consumer sentiment in the first half and the weaker consumer sentiment had hit us in our results - but despite this we are invested in the long term future of our company,' she said. In 2QFY25, Heineken recorded a revenue of RM540mil which is a 5% year-on-year decrease compared to 2024 which the company says reflects a more cautious consumer sentiment. The group's net profit decreased by 9% to RM83mil in the said quarter from RM91mil in the same quarter a year earlier. This was affected by the softer revenue and increased cost pressures, Heineken said.
