Miley Cyrus says lack of ‘infrastructure' has left her with no ‘desire' to tour
Despite releasing a new album, Something Beautiful, in May, the singer said she is not interested in touring, describing the toll it takes on her mental health.
Speaking on ABC's Good Morning America, Cyrus said: 'I do have the physical ability and I have the opportunities to tour. I wish I had the desire, but I don't.'
She added: 'I also don't think that there's actually an infrastructure that supports artists.
'Artists like Prince, that are not here today, that lived such a high-intensity lifestyle out on the road, and it's really hard to maintain sobriety when you're on the road, which is a really important kind of pillar of stability in my life.
'And not only losing their life, but losing their minds. None of this that I create would ever be possible without the way that I think about things.'
The popstar was last on tour in 2022, performing at festivals across North and South America.
She added: 'I do think it's really hard to keep you know mental wellness.
'You have so many thousands of people screaming at you, so dopamine, you're feeling a lot of love, and then you totally crash at the end of the show and you start thinking that one person loving you is not enough, it needs to be 10,000, it needs to be 80,000.'
This comes after Cyrus joined singer Beyonce during her Cowboy Carter tour to perform their track II Most Wanted at a show in Paris.
She said: 'When you're standing beside her, you can actually feel her desire and her passion. That, to me, is a win. It's not a trophy, it's not something physical that you hold or put on a shelf, but it's something that I have that's a true win.
The singer also stars in a new film, Miley Cyrus: Something Beautiful, which will be available to stream on Disney+ from July 30.

Beyonce concert leads to chaos with post-show STAMPEDE that injures 11 as the outrageous cause is revealed
Beyoncé fans looking to get home after a concert this week in Georgia were beset by panic and widespread injuries after a stampede ensued at a nearby rail station. Concertgoers were leaving the final show of Beyoncé's run of Cowboy Carter concerts at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the early morning hours of July 15 when a shocking pileup ensued at the Vine City Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Station, according to Fox 5 Atlanta. The stampede, which occurred on an escalator going down into the station, reportedly left 11 people injured. has reached out to MARTA officials for comment but hasn't yet received a response. Stephany Fisher, the senior director of communications for MARTA, told on Friday: 'Just after midnight on Tuesday, July 15, 11 people leaving the Beyoncé concert at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in downtown Atlanta were injured on an escalator at Vine City Station. 'One person suffered a broken ankle, seven people were transported to the hospital with cuts and scrapes, and one person declined transport,' she continued. 'Two people requested medical assistance after reaching their destinations.' Fisher also relayed information from MARTA police officers, who suggested that the commotion was set in motion when 'a person began screaming and running, causing a stampede on the escalator that caused it to temporarily speed up and then stop suddenly.' She noted that the escalator had since been cordoned off from passengers to ensure no further injuries. Fisher added that both MARTA and Schindler, the company that built the escalator, were investigating what caused it to malfunction. In a statement, Schindler extended sympathy to injured passengers and said: 'At this time, we have no verified information as to the cause and it would be inappropriate to speculate.' According to local station 11Alive, MARTA police chief Scott Kreher and acting CEO Rhonda Allen revealed what they believe was the cause of the dangerous commotion. In video from the meeting, Kreher claimed that a 10-year-old girl reportedly began screaming after she saw a cockroach or 'palmetto bug.' Allen added, 'There was someone who started to scream outside of the station. She was startled by a bug outside, outside the large crowd.' The officials said that the screams spooked transit users further inside the station, where a mass of people were already lined up on an escalator, which was allegedly overcrowded at the time. According to MARTA's acting CEO Rhonda Allen, the quick movements of the people on the escalator, combined with the immense weight on the device caused it to speed up at first, before it came to a dead stop 'Imagine a group of people saying, "I want to get down, I want to get down," began to usher themselves down the escalator,' Allen said at the board meeting. One particularly gruesome clip showed a person's leg that appeared to have been severely lacerated in the stampede as it oozed blood. Allen claimed the escalator had been inspected just days before the calamity, suggesting it had been in working order at the time. According to the manufacturer, 'It appears that the escalator was overloaded beyond design capacity causing the unit to briefly accelerate and the brakes to engage as part of the unit's multi-layered, code-required safety system' However, an inspection certificate on the escalator said the certification was set to expire in August, according to 11Alive. In a statement to People on Friday, Schindler said the malfunctioning escalator had been examined later on the morning of July 15, and inspectors determined that 'there was no indication of equipment malfunction.' Instead, 'it appears that the escalator was overloaded beyond design capacity causing the unit to briefly accelerate and the brakes to engage as part of the unit's multi-layered, code-required safety system,' the statement continued. 'As also indicated during the Working Session, prior to the incident, the escalator has undergone standard monthly maintenance with the most recent service taking place on July 10th, less than a week before the incident. The escalator was found to be fully compliant and performing as expected at that time. Again, we extend our sympathies to the persons injured and will continue to provide technical support and cooperate fully with any further investigative efforts.' In order to decrease the likelihood of such mishaps in the future, Allen outlined a plan to the board for more 'aggressive' transit staffing at major events like Beyoncé's concert. She said the extra employees would be better able to coordinate passengers and ensure that only the approved number are on escalators at a given time. MARTA confirmed to 11Alive that members of its police force were present in the station at the the time of the stampede. Beyoncé's July 14 show was the fourth and final of her Atlanta run of Cowboy Carter concerts, which began on July 10. She will next be performing a two-night run in Las Vegas on July 25 and 26.

Despite Colbert's success in ratings, the network still decided to axe his slot altogether, potentially representing a bleak outlook for the two Jimmys. All three late-night shows dipped in ratings over the last five years, and shows at the 12:35 slot were even worse off. CBS ended James Corden's The Late Late Show in 2023, citing that the later time slot was no longer profitable for the network. Similarly to Colbert's departure, CBS opted to end the program altogether and never replaced Corden. Viewing habits have changed in the age of streaming platforms like Netflix, making it harder for networks to attract advertisers - and the gigantic salaries of the little-watched late night hosts. CBS are rumored to pay Colbert $15 million-a-year for his doomed show, with Kimmel said to be on the same enormous amount and Fallon on slightly more at $16 million. But shows that once combined light celebrity interviews with gentle social commentary are now filled with constant jibes about President Trump and politics, with fewer viewers having a stomach for such sourness just before bedtime. Colbert helped to produce a less expensive alternative titled After Midnight, hosted by Taylor Tomlinson, but the show also struggled to gain traction and was canceled after only two seasons. Colbert's departure now signals CBS's exit from the late-night game altogether, ending a generations-long tradition of the three power players competing for number one. Founding host David Letterman hosted the program for over 20 years before handing it off to Colbert in 2015. During Letterman's stint, Jay Leno hosted The Tonight Show on NBC, marking a years-long battle between the two for the top show. Letterman and Leno's generation represented a golden age in late-night, but streaming and social media have made it difficult for the genre to endure. Paramount, CBS's parent corporation, has also undergone shakeups, with a deal pending to merge with Skydance. Skydance, fronted by Trump backer Larry Ellison's son, David, has proposed a merger with Paramount to the tune of $8.4 billion. The merger, which will need approval from the Trump administration, comes as Paramount agreed to settle a lawsuit with the president for $16 million. Just a few days before the news dropped of The Late Show's cancellation, Colbert slammed Paramount for accepting the settlement on-air. He called the payout a 'big, fat, bribe,' and criticized his parent company of not fighting harder against it. Paramount denied any political motivation for canceling the program, explaining that the decision was a 'purely a financial' one 'against a challenging backdrop in late night.' 'We consider Stephen Colbert irreplaceable and will retire the Late Show franchise at that time,' the executives said. 'We are proud that Stephen called CBS home. He and his broadcast will be remembered in the pantheon of greats that graced late night television.' 'It is not related in any way to the show's performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount,' the statement added.
