Taylor Swift recalls celebratory reaction to Chiefs drafting Xavier Worthy
During Wednesday's highly anticipated episode of the 'New Heights' podcast, the mega popstar — who had been teased as a 'special guest' in the lead-up — recalled her love for football culminating last year after she 'became obsessed' with the sport thanks to her boyfriend, Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce.
'I didn't know what a first down was, I didn't know what the chains were, I didn't know what a tight end was,' Swift, 35, said, laughing before Kelce thanked her for embracing the sport. 'I fell in love with it. I became obsessed with it.
'I became like a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, 'We drafted Xavier Worthy!' And my friends are like, 'Who body snatched you? What do you mean we drafted Xavier Worthy?''
Swift, who revealed that her new album, 'The Life of a Showgirl' will drop Oct. 3, explained that she has great respect for NFL players and the pressure they endure in the sport.

'I definitely became obsessed with sports because of [Travis]. I'm competitive on his behalf,' Swift said.
'… I love this new world that Travis has shown me. It's so fun, it's so exciting, there is so much pressure on these players … the pressure on sports is such a different type that I have such respect for everyone, everyone on his team.'

Swift and Worthy met following the Chiefs' 32-29 victory over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC championship game in January, where cameras caught Worthy's reaction to seeing Swift on the field to celebrate with Kelce.
'Oh s—,' Worthy said to someone off camera as Swift was hugging Chiefs coach Andy Reid. 'She's taller than me.'
When asked about meeting Swift, Worthy said at the time that the singer asked him being getting drafted by the Chiefs.
The 'New Heights' podcast, co-hosted by Travis and his older brother, Eagles legend Jason Kelce, nearly broke the internet Wednesday night.

The podcast glitched one hour and 44 minutes into the episode and went black, leaving more than one million people confused — and, of course, taking to social media to figure out what was happening.
It eventually returned, as the 'New Heights' podcast said on X that YouTube helped resolve the matter.
Elsewhere in the conversation, Swift called out male sports fans for complaining she's given too much TV time during Chiefs games.

Last month, Kelce dismissed a narrative that he and Swift are 'trying to seek attention' by having date nights in the public eye, which included an appearance at the Stanley Cup Final in June.
Kelce and Swift have stayed under the radar this offseason following the Chiefs' Super Bowl flop to the Eagles in February, a 40-22 defeat.

The All-Pro tight end has spent time training in Florida, and Swift said Wednesday that she joined him.
Kelce reportedly moved into a $20 million Florida mansion located in the exclusive Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club in April.

‘Freaky Friday' director reveals he wasn't invited back for sequel: ‘I did raise my hand'
Even the filmmakers got swapped. Mark Waters, who directed the 2003 film 'Freaky Friday' starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, has revealed that he was never even approached to return for this year's sequel. 10 Mark Waters attends the Netflix premiere of 'He's All That' at the NeueHouse in Hollywood, California, on August 25, 2021. 'I did raise my hand and say I'd love to be involved somehow, even in a kind of godfather aspect or executive producer.' 'But I was not extended an invitation,' he added. Advertisement 'I'm very supportive of them making a great new movie,' he told the outlet. 'It would have been nice to be involved, but now that I'm not, I sort of compartmentalize it for myself.' 'I need to devote my energy to keep making new, original things that are going to be hits, and people can remake them in 20 years,' Waters continued. 'So that's what I'm doing now. You can't worry about the projects that you don't do.' 10 Jamie Lee Curtis as Tess Coleman and Lindsay Lohan as Anna Coleman in 2003's 'Freaky Friday.' ©Buena Vista Pictures/Courtesy Everett Collection 10 Jamie Lee Curtis as Tess Coleman and Lindsay Lohan as Anna Coleman in 'Freakier Friday.' ©Walt Disney Co./Courtesy Everett Collection Advertisement The 'Mr. Popper's Penguins' director also revealed that some members of the cast wondered where he was when the sequel began filming. 'It certainly would have been fun, and I heard from quite a few cast members while they were shooting, saying, 'Where the hell are you, Waters?'' he shared. 'I have not forsaken you! I'm sorry.' Picking up 22 years after Anna Coleman (Lohan) and her mother Tess (Curtis) magically swapped bodies in 'Freaky Friday,' 'Freakier Friday' follows Anna and Tess after they swap bodies once again – but this time with Anna's daughter Harper (Julia Butters) and soon-to-be stepdaughter Lily (Sophia Hammons). 10 Jamie Lee Curtis as Tess Coleman and Lindsay Lohan as Anna Coleman in 'Freaky Friday' (2003). ©Walt Disney Co./Courtesy Everett Collection 10 Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan reprising their roles as Tess and Anna Coleman in 'Freakier Friday' (2025). ©Walt Disney Co./Courtesy Everett Collection The cast is rounded out by several returning characters, including Anna's ex-boyfriend Jake (Chad Michael Murray), teacher Mr. Elton (Stephen Tobolowsky) and Anna's little brother Harry (Ryan Malgarini). After the body-swapping sequel's release on Aug. 8, it received mixed reviews – including a particularly 'harsh' write-up from Time magazine. 'No one, as far as we know, actually asked Disney for a sequel to 2003's buoyant, surprisingly unsyrupy generation-gap comedy 'Freaky Friday,'' the outlet wrote. Advertisement Curtis later took to the comments section of the review to defend her and Lohan's new movie. 'SEEMS a TAD HARSH,' the 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' Oscar winner wrote. 'SOME people LOVE it. Me being one.'

Texans Pro Bowl WR Nico Collins debuts at No. 32 on NFL Top 100 list
Come on down, Nico Collins. You're joining C.J. Stroud, Joe Mixon and Will Anderson in the NFL's Top 100. Collins, who posted his second 1,000-yard season in 2024 en route to helping the Houston Texans secure their second straight AFC South division title, appeared at No. 32 in the NFL's Top 100 list, a a poll of the league's players that ranks the 100 best players across the sport. The fifth-year Pro Bowl pass-catcher is the fourth Houston player in the No. 100-31 spots in the top 100, joining Stroud (No. 39), Anderson (No. 46) and Mixon (No. 58). "Collins was one of the few Texans offensive players who lived up to the massive weight of expectations last season," NFL Network's Bobby Kownack wrote. "He surged out of the gates with three 100-yard receiving performances in his first five games. He likely would've made it four, too, considering he already had 78 yards on two catches at the time of his Week 5 hamstring injury. Although Collins wasn't quite as prolific upon his return in Week 11 and beyond, he remained one of the league's preeminent deep threats and C.J. Stroud's surest bet at success -- descriptions likely to fit him again this year amid a remade WR room in Houston." Before a hamstring injury sidelined him for five games, Collins was on pace to be the league's top receiver, averaging 124.6 yards per game as Stroud's No. 1 weapon. His five-game hiatus slowed down the offensive personnel and led to regression in the passing game. Overall, Collins finished with 68 receptions for 1,006 yards while averaging 14.8 yards per catch. Entering this fall, the expectation is for him to pick up where he left off while Houston takes another run toward the AFC conference championship.
