Death in Paradise star details filming 'exceptional' new drama with EastEnders legend
Death in Paradise, EastEnders and Bridgerton stars will co-star in a drama dubbed 'the new Big Little Lies'.
Emily Taaffe appeared in an episode of Death in Paradise
A new series that has been described as the 'next Big Little Lies' is coming to Paramount Plus, and it boasts a very star-studded cast.
The show, which is a drama about motherhood and friendship, is based on a novel from Sunday Times best-selling author Sarah Vaughan.

The series has already drawn comparisons to Reese Witherspoon shows like Big Little Lies and Little Fires Everywhere thanks to its overlapping themes - and the famous cast has already created quite a buzz.

The six-episode drama follows four very different women, who have nothing much in common except for their due dates.
Inglourious Basterds' Diane Kruger plays Jess opposite Bridgerton actress Shelley Conn, who portrays Charlotte.
Emily Taaffe, who has starred in many high-profile shows including Death in Paradise and Call the Midwife, also stars as Mel alongside EastEnders icon Jo Joyner, who appears as Liz.

Speaking ahead of the show's release, Emily discussed working on the 'exceptional' series alongside her talented castmates.
Emily Taaffe has also appeared in Call the Midwife
She reminisced about one scene that brought the whole cast all together, where she is thrown into a pool in Provence.

She said: 'It was a really, really fun scene to do but it was also special because it was the first time the eight main actors had all been together.
'It was just lovely to have the whole ensemble there - all four main women, their partners and kids.
'It just felt like we were truly in their world and for me that was exceptionally special.'

Emily also noted that parenthood brought her co-stars together, saying: 'It was lovely that each of the main cast, the director, the writers and the executive producers were all parents, so we had a shared experience to draw on.
'It was just nice to be able to show someone a picture of your kid and know they aren't going to be bored by it!'
Jo Joyner stars in Little Disasters

Meanwhile, EastEnders star Jo opened up about her character Liz, even commenting on her friendship with fellow soap star, Emmerdale's Zoe Henry.
She said: 'Whilst we were shooting, one of my closest friends Zoe Hentry put a pic on her Instagram of a long weekend away she was on with five NCT mates that she'd known for twenty years! So, friendships like these do happen.'
Speaking about some of the more taboo pregnancy topics covered in the show, saying: 'When this script was presented to me, I felt very strongly that I had to do it.

'I know the author Sarah Vaughan feels the same - that we need to get the word out there about these conditions so the next woman who's suffering from it doesn't think she's completely lost it and that, God forbid, there's no way out.'
The official description of Little Disasters from Paramount Plus reads: 'When Jess takes her baby to hospital with an unexplained head injury, her close friend and on-duty A&E doctor Liz must make the excruciating decision of whether to call social services, setting off an explosive chain of events for their friendship group.'
Little Disasters is coming soon to Paramount Plus.

Paramount Plus adds gory horror also perfect for romantic comedy fans

The film was released in cinemas earlier this year but is now streaming Heart Eyes trailer Paramount Plus has just added a gory horror movie that is said to also be perfect for romantic comedy fans. ‌ Genre mashup title Heart Eyes was only released in cinemas earlier this year before becoming a hit on Netflix in the United States. It performed well against its budget, earning around $32 million worldwide while it cost less than $20 million to make. ‌ It also features some experienced horror stars with Scream franchise alum Mason Gooding leading the cast alongside Totally Killer's Olivia Holt. ‌ Now audiences in the UK can see what all the fuss is about on Paramount's streaming library. Viewers can access it either by the dedicated app or as an add-on subscription via Amazon Prime Video. The premise of the film sees that for the past several years, a masked maniac with glowing, red eyes has wreaked havoc on Valentine's Day by stalking and murdering unsuspecting couples attempting to enjoy the day. When a cynical ad executive and her hopelessly romantic colleague become the next target, they decide to fight back and end the reign of terror. Heart Eyes registered a more than respectable 78% rating on website Rotten Tomatoes. Reviewers appreciated how it approached merging both horror and romantic comedy to successfully provide scares and laughs. One critic claimed: "Heart Eyes knows exactly what it is and fully commits to the chaos. The jump scares are effective, the comedy lands, and the action moves at full speed. It is a Scream clone in all the best ways, with just enough originality to carve out its own space." Another suggested: "Horror and rom-com fans alike are sure to have heart eyes for Heart Eyes with extravagant set pieces, intricate kills, witty one-liners, and heart-swelling romantic moments that celebrate the best of both genres." ‌ Someone else suggested: "A perfect blend of gory mayhem and romantic fun. While it lacks a compelling whodunit mystery, it more than makes up for it with two leads who share incredible chemistry." While another compared it to the Scream franchise, saying: "Heart Eyes is such a fun ride! It totally gave me Scream 4 vibes—smart, self-aware, and full of tension. The acting was great, and even the over-the-top or cheesy moments felt intentional in the best way." ‌ They continued: "It's got everything—gore, comedy, romance—and somehow balances it all perfectly, making it super easy to watch. I even caught a few potential Easter eggs that make me excited for a rewatch! If you're into horror that doesn't take itself too seriously but still delivers, definitely check this one out!" 'Heart Eyes is a remarkable cinematic experience that masterfully merges the conventions of a romantic comedy with the elements of a slasher genre. The film captivated me from the outset, and I wholeheartedly endorse its release in 2025. Oliva Holt is a mutha f***** SCREAM QUEEN!!! This film is deserving of unequivocal praise.'

EastEnders' Phil leaves Julie shaken in outburst as they clash over Nigel

Tensions between EastEnders' Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) and Julie Bates (Karen Henthorn) reach boiling point next week as Phil drops a bombshell about Nigel Bates' (Paul Bradley). Julie was recently reunited with her estranged husband Nigel, who had walked out on their life together in a bid to hide his dementia diagnosis from her. While she had planned to take him back home to Scotland to look after him, Nigel ultimately decided he wanted to stay in Walford with his old friend Phil, who he had been living with since returning to the BBC soap after 27 years at Christmas. Ultimately, Phil invited Julie to move in with him and Nigel at No.18, but things haven't exactly been smooth sailing between the pair. After a short trip back to Scotland, Nigel and Julie arrive back on the Square with their three pet chickens next week, and Phil is soon struggling with the new dynamic in his household. As Julie gets busy organising everything and making decisions, Phil gets annoyed that she's changing Nigel's routine. He's further agitated when the chickens keep everyone awake, making his relationship with Julie even more strained. When the pair both accompany Nigel to an assessment, he gets stressed by their constant sniping, which results in an almighty clash between Phil and Julie over their different approaches to Nigel's care. But Phil then has an outburst which leaves Julie shocked to the core, and she's left demanding answers about the revelation. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers?
