Iran says will cooperate with IAEA, but warns of inspection risks
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Saturday that Iran plans to keep working with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), although a new law passed by the Iranian parliament places limits on inspections.
'Any future inspection of nuclear sites will need approval from the Supreme National Security Council,' Araghchi told diplomats in Tehran, according to Reuters.
He also said that some nuclear sites have been damaged in past attacks and may be unsafe. 'The risk of spreading radioactive materials and the risk of exploding leftover munitions are serious,' state media quoted him as saying.
'For us, IAEA inspectors approaching nuclear sites has both a security aspect, and the safety of the inspectors themselves is a matter that must be examined,' Araghchi said.
He explained that cooperation with the IAEA has not stopped but will now be controlled by the country's top security body. 'The IAEA's requests for continued monitoring in Iran will be decided on a case-by-case basis by the Council, with consideration to safety and security issues,' he said.
Araghchi also repeated Iran's position that it would not accept any nuclear agreement that blocks its right to enrich uranium. His comment follows a report by Axios that claimed Russian President Vladimir Putin had supported a proposal to prevent Iran from enriching uranium. However, Iran's Tasnim news agency quoted an unnamed source saying Putin had not made such a suggestion.
Speaking to the state news agency IRNA, Araghchi said Iran is still thinking about the details of any possible new nuclear talks with the United States. 'We are in no hurry to enter into unconsidered negotiations,' he said. 'We want to be sure that the US will not again use military force.'

NATO chief Rutte to meet Trump over US arms plan for Ukraine

Graham and Democrat Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, who appeared with South Carolina lawmaker on CBS, said there is also growing consensus on Capitol Hill and among European officials about tapping some of the $300 billion in Russian assets frozen by Group of Seven countries early in the war to help Ukraine. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'It's time to do it,' Blumenthal said. Rubio said Friday that some of the US-made weapons that Ukraine is seeking are deployed with NATO allies in Europe. Those weapons could be transferred to Ukraine, with European countries buying replacements from the US, he said. 'It's a lot faster to move something, for example, from Germany to Ukraine than it is to order it from a (US) factory and get it there,' Rubio told reporters last week during visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu in an interview published Sunday in La Tribune Dimanche said that European officials have been making the case to the Trump administration to bolster air defense capabilities with any coming packages. He added that France is in a 'capacity hole' and will have to wait until next year before being able to provide Ukraine new ground-air missiles. Trump is also facing calls from Republicans and Democrats as well as European allies to support legislation in the Senate that aims to cripple Russia's oil industry and hit Moscow with US sanctions for its ongoing invasion of Ukraine. And the only way you are going to end this war is to get people who prop up Putin— make them choose between the American economy and helping Putin.' That revenue is critical in helping keep the Russian war machine humming as the US and Europe have imposed significant import and export bans on a wide range of goods to and from Russia, affecting sectors like finance, energy, transport, technology, and defense. Trump for months had threatened, but held off on, imposing new sanctions against Russia's oil industry. Trump made clear he wants full authority over the waiver process to lift the sanctions, tariffs or other penalties, without having to cede control to Congress. Under the initial bill, the president 'may terminate' the penalties under certain circumstances, but immediately reimpose them if the violations resume. Graham has said the president would be allowed to waive the sanctions, for 180 days, and could also renew a waiver. Rabinder Ghosh , a human rights activist from Bangladesh, on Sunday alleged that Pakistan and China are behind the atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh. Ghosh made these claims in an interview with ANI, stating that despite the violence, Hindus in Bangladesh wish to stay in peace. "We've received information suggesting that China is behind this, and Pakistan is also providing assistance. Pakistan has consistently supported the Bangladeshi Muslims, with their people and army arriving to help Muslims against Hindus," he stated. "This raises questions about the future of our country. The purpose of Bangladesh's existence is being undermined. It's as if Pakistan has re-emerged after 54 years, which is an irony of faith. It's becoming impossible for Hindus to stay there, yet they wish to remain and survive in the country," he told ANI. Ghosh alleged that forceful conversions of Hindus to Islam are taking place in Bangladesh, with many incidents of torture, intimidation, rape, and gang rape reported. "Many Hindu homes have been burned to ashes, forcing them to flee. As a human rights defender, we've investigated the matter and found 2,336 incidents occurred during Yunus' tenure," he said. Ghosh further alleged that no one has come to Bangladesh's assistance. "We achieved independence in 1971 to protect the rights of all citizens. It's unfortunate that this is happening, and no one has come forward to protect them," he said. Ghosh expressed disappointment that the international community, including the United Nations, has remained silent despite their repeated pleas for help. "The UN has not taken any action, despite our detailed descriptions of the situation. Women and children are being tortured, molested, and raped everywhere.
