Alex Bowman soars to Busch Light Pole in Bristol qualifying
Hendrick Motorsports driver Alex Bowman soared to his second Busch Light Pole Award of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season for Sunday's 500-lapper at Bristol Motor Speedway (3 p.m. ET, FS1, PRN Radio, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).
Bowman's No. 48 Chevrolet will lead the field to green after topping the charts at 128.675 mph.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (128.563 mph), Kyle Larson (128.511 mph), Denny Hamlin (128.460 mph) and Ryan Blaney (128.305 mph) rounded out the top five.
Ty Gibbs (128.305 mph), Christopher Bell (128.185 mph), AJ Allmendinger (127.903 mph), Carson Hocevar (127.758 mph) and Justin Haley (127.665 mph) completed the top 10.
Kyle Busch and Joey Logano both ran into trouble on their qualifying runs. On his second flying lap, Busch's No. 8 Chevy spun in Turn 4 but did not hit anything. Busch's qualifying time on his first lap was good enough for 15th fastest at 127.098 mph.

Logano got loose on the bottom of Turn 2 on his first of two laps, traveled up the track as the rear right smacked the wall. Logano was still able to complete both qualifying laps, but he will roll off the grid in 38th place (117.899 mph).
Stenhouse fastest in practice
Hyak Motorsports' Ricky Stenhouse Jr. topped the leaderboard in practice at 128.082 mph ahead of Team Penske drivers Ryan Blaney (127.571 mph) and Austin Cindric (127.140 mph).
Kyle Larson (126.737 mph) and Chase Elliott (126.520 mph) rounded out the top five for Hendrick Motorsports.

Brad Keselowski (126.495 mph), Denny Hamlin (126.461 mph), Kyle Busch (126.337 mph), John Hunter Nemechek (126.187 mph) and Alex Bowman (126.121 mph) completed the top 10.
After experiencing extreme tire wear in last year's Bristol spring race, Cup Series drivers dealt with similar conditions in practice.

This isn't a Carson thing I think it's in general, they're too young to know that it's cool to be like, 'Man, I f***ed that up.' Know what I'm saying? "And that's where I wish they would help themselves more. But again, I want to teach Carson how it is, quote, unquote. "I'm not trying to change him. I certainly don't want to get in car-crashing contests out there, right? And Ricky to me is a guy that, like, he's not going to wreck our car, he's going to go beat the hell out of him. You know what I'm saying? Which is how it probably should be, you know what I mean? But you can't get it until you go through it, right? So, it's like being a parent, sometimes your kid just wants to shut his hand in the car door to see if it hurts, right? Sometimes you just gotta let them."

Well, in a weird way, Fox Sports 1's The Herd has done that same thing in a sort of reverse order. Throughout the offseason, host Colin Cowherd has been critical of the Minnesota Vikings and J.J. McCarthy. The Summer has now come, which means that sports anchors and radio hosts are taking their breaks while the seasons are on a break, which is where The Herd comes into play as they bring in Jason McIntyre to guest host the show. During one of the shows this week, McIntyre expressed his belief in the Vikings, a belief that is the opposite of Cowherd's. "I am coming out right now and telling all of America I'm all in on J.J. McCarthy and the Minnesota Vikings, they will play in the NFC Championship this year. ... I am all in on this team." McIntrye could not be more excited if he tried when talking about the Vikings and he explained what made him go all in on this version of Minnesota football. "There's a couple things at play: Without any prompting, Aaron Jones has not stopped talking about J.J. McCarthy. The leadership — the dude's got it, sometimes you just have it. ... Jim Harbaugh, who knows a little bit about football, loves J.J. McCarthy. The team of destiny this year is the Minnesota Vikings." While Colin Cowherd is away, one has to wonder what he thinks of such an opposite take of one that he has been so vocal about this offseason.
