ESPN's College GameDay Asks For 'Special Help' With Lee Corso
As we near the end of Lee Corso's legendary run on "College GameDay" ESPN is looking for help from the show's audience as it looks to send him off the right way.
The 89-year-old analyst and former coach is calling it a career next month after nearly four decades on the air previewing college football's matchups and making his iconic headgear picks.
Corso suffered a stroke back in 2009 that slowed him down a bit but he didn't let it stop him from ultimately returning to the "GameDay" desk — even if his travel has been limited in recent years. It also hasn't made him any less beloved by the show's viewers or the players that he coached.
"Lee is the quintessential entertainer, but he was also a remarkable coach who established lifelong connections with his players," Rece Davis said of his colleague back in April.
"When GameDay went to Indiana last season, the love and emotion that poured out from his players was truly moving. It was also unsurprising," he admitted. "Every week, Lee asks about our families. He asks for specifics. He celebrates success and moments, big and small, with all of us on the set."
"He's relentless in his encouragement. That's what a great coach, and friend, does," the "GameDay" host shared. "Lee has made it his life's work to bring joy to others on the field and on television. He succeeded."
Now the Worldwide Leader is asking fans to share what the coach means to them by submitting a video message that could run on his very last show.
"As we get ready to celebrate Lee Corso's final show on College GameDay, here is your chance to share a personal message to Coach ❤️" ESPN posted to X. "Submit your video by August 15, more information here."
CFB Saturdays aren't going to feel the same without Corso. And to the network's credit, "GameDay" will not be making anymore headgear picks once Lee leaves the set.
Corso's final appearance will be August 30 when the show travels to Columbus for Ohio State's Week 1 opener vs. Texas. Auburn pushing to flip 2026 Mississippi State defensive lineman commit
Auburn football is looking to sway one of Alabama's top defensive linemen from the 2026 class away from an SEC rival. Hugh Freeze and his staff will have a strong chance to do so this fall. Jeffrey Lee of Rivals reported this week that three-star defensive lineman and Mississippi State pledge Kaleb Morris has scheduled a visit to Auburn. According to Lee, Morris will visit the Plains during the weekend of Nov. 1 when the Tigers host Kentucky at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Morris tells Lee that he is excited to take a visit to Auburn, which will be his first outside of attending camps with his high school team. Like so many other recruits, the key man in charge of communicating with Morris is defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams. Morris described his relationship with King-Williams in a recent interview with Rivals. 'Coach (King-Williams) is recruiting me pretty hard. He's a great person, a cool guy," Morris said via Rivals. "He came to watch one of my practices in the spring and did an in-home visit that day. We've been building a relationship ever since.' Auburn joined the race for Morris later than most other programs, and will compete alongside Colorado, Oklahoma State, and Miami in its attempt to flip him from Mississippi State. Morris, a native of Semmes and a senior from Mary G. Montgomery High School, is a three-star defensive lineman according to all major recruiting outlets. He ranks as high as No. 74 nationally among defensive linemen, and No. 32 among 2026 recruits from Alabama.
