DPA, UNRWA discuss financial crisis, infrastructure projects
The two officials discussed the infrastructure projects being implemented by UNRWA in the refugee camps, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
They emphasised the importance of strengthening coordination and joint planning to ensure the efficient implementation of the projects, which has a direct impact on improving the living conditions of refugees.
The meeting was attended by UNRWA Deputy Directors Kunal Dhar and Butros Janho.
Khirfan and Becker also discussed the issue of sanitation in the camps, particularly in Baqaa regugee Camp, and stressed the need for cooperation among all relevant parties to address these challenges and to work towards sustainable and effective solutions.
The two officials affirmed the strong cooperation between the DPA and UNRWA, and their commitment to continuing joint coordination in following up on priority issues to ensure continuing delivery of essential services to Palestinian refugees.

Jordan condemns Israeli minister's approval of E1 settlement plan
AMMAN — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has 'strongly' condemned the approval by Israeli far-right finance minister Bezalel Smotrich a controversial settlement plan in the E1 area near Jerusalem, calling it a 'clear violation of international law and a threat to regional stability.' In a statement on Thursday, the ministry denounced Smotrich's endorsement of the plan, as well as his recent remarks rejecting the establishment of a Palestinian state, labeling them as "racist and extremist." The ministry also reiterated that such actions undermine the rights of the Palestinian people to an independent, sovereign state along the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and emphasised that Israel has no sovereignty over occupied Palestinian territories. Smotrich has said he will approve plans to build more than 3,000 homes in a controversial settlement project in the occupied West Bank, saying the move 'buries the idea of a Palestinian state'. The ministry spokesperson Sufian Qudah voiced the Kingdom's "categorical rejection" of the settlement plan and all other unilateral Israeli measures, saying that the move constitutes a "blatant breach" of international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334, which deems Israeli settlement activity in occupied territory illegal. Qudah also cited the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, which calls for an end to the Israeli occupation and affirms the illegality of annexing Palestinian land. He warned that the Israeli government's continued expansionist policies in the occupied West Bank risk further fueling cycles of violence and instability in the region. Jordan condemns Israeli PM's 'greater Israel' remarks as provocative escalation
AMMAN – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has 'strongly' condemned recent statements by Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu on his commitment to the so-called 'greater Israel' vision. In a statement on Wednesday, the ministry's spokesperson Sufian Qudah voiced the Kingdom's rejection of the Israeli premier's remarks as a 'dangerous and provocative escalation', warning they pose a direct threat to regional sovereignty and violate international law and the United Nations Charter. Qudah said the Kingdom firmly rejects 'provocative and delusional rhetoric' from Israeli officials, adding that such statements would not undermine Jordan, Arab states, or the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people. 'Such reckless statements and practices reflect the deepening crisis within the Israeli government and come at a time when Israel is facing growing international isolation over its ongoing aggression in the occupied Gaza Strip and West Bank,' Qudah said. The spokesperson warned that the 'claims and illusions' promoted by extremists in the Israeli government fuel continued cycles of violence and instability in the region, urging the international community to take a firm and immediate stance, condemning the Israeli government's inflammatory rhetoric and actions. He also urged 'immediate' international action to prevent further escalation and to hold Israeli officials accountable for statements that threaten both regional stability and international peace. Netanyahu has said he feels 'very' connected to the vision of a 'greater Israel', which includes occupied Palestinian territory as well as parts of Jordan, Egypt, Syria and Lebanon.
